So, uh... If anyone happens to know where the holy sword rests, I'd be interested to know... for a friend, you see... a friend.

I find it hard to sympathize with Nene, though I do feel a little bad for her. Girl needs to get her demons in check before she really enters the point of no return. Senpai ain't just sitting around waiting for some competition to end victoriously before she does something. Leaving Amane to get slowly tortured while you two basically death flag yourselves just makes me shake my head.

  1. They're kids
  2. It's pretty responsible to not be around someone for fear of being toxic.

Yep, they're kids. That's why I feel a bit bad for her. But I still can't really sympathize with how stupid she is acting.

It's not really responsible what she's doing. She's seething with jealousy to the point she wished the person she genuinely loves was ugly or disfigured so she wouldn't be able to do what she does so naturally? You think she's actually going to become an even half decent person if she keeps that kind of complex without actually trying to better herself? Leaving Amane only postpones the problem -- If she gets that way over someone she genuinely cares about, imagine what she'll say or do to her colleagues as time progresses. Except she'll have nowhere to run when that time comes.

90% sure there's some stupid reason why she was trying to separate from Amane and is pretty much using Kou to further that end (on some level). I mean she's being pretty flagrant about showing this off to Amane to crush her hopes. I hate plots like this. How much you wanna bet by the time "summer ends" she's supposed to be gone?

Honestly I have two competing theories for this, neither of which I really like. One is that whatever weirdness going on in her life was what made her get with Amane in the first place. She didn't necessarily genuinely like her and was just using her as an outlet as someone who seemed to genuinely like her opposed to the superficial shit she probably gets at home/being a model. Maybe she eventually felt guilty or something leading to the breakup, and now we have a repeat performance with Kou, but perhaps it's even stronger since Kou represents both worlds, someone genuinely interested in her, and what she was doing.

The other is the more typical "don't want whatever bad trope going on in my life to mess you up so I'm going to scar you horribly in an attempt to 'save' you"

Really don't want either of those to be the answer.

I really don't want Kou and Nene to get together. I just don't see it.

Does killing off an off-screen character which no one was ever expecting to see, raise any sort of feelings among the readers?

I don't think it's meant to make you feel bad for her, it's meant to give you a sense of unease about the rest of them that a seemingly perfectly healthy young girl is now dead only a short while after being "sold", and the expectation that maybe isn't exactly uncommon given the reaction when reading the letter. Well, I mean the news is pretty terrible for Mio too, after all.

I mean the impression the story is trying so hard to paint for us is that this place is pretty shady, and now they're implying that there's a good chance "graduation" means you're simply being sold off to some sort of pervert who is likely to literally screw your brains out of your head, while the B class who doesn't graduate appears to sell you to a brothel...

But reading between the lines, this story is only ever really told from the perspective of these girls who feel extremely oppressed. Many/most did not have the option to go here and simply ended up there. The way I've been seeing this place is more akin to an extremely conservative catholic boarding school, admittedly on the atomic end of the spectrum. Even when the woman is explaining to Chizuru how the system works, she speaks in vague terms that I could honestly imply meaning nothing more than corporal punishment, though the imagery we're given seems to imply something more sinister. These B class girls talk about how they're taught to be subservient is pretty typical of that sort of institution.

Well, I can't explain the "practical skill training notice" thing that seems to pair up girls for sexytimes. That doesn't even make sense to me. I guess you could get better at kissing, caressing? I mean the partner is missing the most important part, there... So that's just kind of weird. Unless the girls are reading a bit too much in between the lines and going a bit off the intended course there.

I do hope there's a twist to this story and it isn't really as sinister as it really wants you to think it is.

The fact that they basically went out of their way to describe the husband as an all around good guy seems to imply to me they're going to make him a secret bad guy later, if only to justify even a little bit this woman cheating on him. You can't just have the main heroine be a straight up cheater now can you.

I mean everyone has their own opinions, so I will also state mine (feel free to ignore). First thing first this is actually the first time that a comment section in dynasty makes me so sick. Instead of enjoying or dropping this interesting and til now good manga, people start to put their real life issues into the characters and try to force their opinions and beliefs on the characters. In my case I love the direction of this manga so far. I love all characters, be it Nene, Amane or Kou.

And after letting out all my annoyance that stacked up since reading some of the latest comments, I will slowly go away and keep enjoying this work without looking back into this comment section ever again. Feel free to keep discussing =)

You should definitely avoid the forums on this site if you have any semblance of sanity. 98% of the discussions will over analyze every little thing and push crazy narratives the artists probably never even considered in their worst nightmares.

I kind of hate how Kou retreats into the whole photography thing to avoid the situation unfolding right around her. Was kind of hoping senpai's "joke" would actually give her some much needed awareness that what Nene is doing is kind of off if she wants to stay friends with Amane too. Love triangles between 3 friends is pretty messed up. Whatever the outcome of this I hope Amane doesn't legit get stuck with someone legit harming her to get what she wants.

It's seriously the creepiest

You seriously need more time in the internet.

but good god Shio needs real help..

If at this point isn't clear to you Shio is better with Satou than with anyone else, you need to read the story again.

You really think that? Let me rephrase the question: if this scenario played out in real life exactly as described, would you still feel that way? Or are you merely using the fact that this is just a manga to rationalize it that way?

Both girls have a history that makes the other a good fit to "feel better" around each other -- Sure, both girls could essentially lick each others wounds, but it is not a healthy relationship in the long run. It's one thing to rely on the experiences of others to help you find solace or closure in your own troubles -- that's why things like Alcoholics Anonymous can be so therapeutic to attendees, but it's another thing altogether when you let your insecurities and issues literally feed the focus of the relationship.

Shio is like 5 years old -- she hasn't even lived long enough to know what she needs, and the issue with her mom is still very fresh, so everything she does is pretty impulsive on her raw emotions. It's the same reason why we don't let adults sexually abuse children, even if the abused children are fine with it. The children might like or even love that affection, perhaps going even further in because it provides some catharsis in their lives, but it's not helping them. It may even scar them for life as they get older and realize what they have been a part of. There are intense parallels here to what Satou is doing to Shio and Satou hasn't seemed to realize this, though up to this point it looks like she is probably starting to with how she's been getting about the murder of her "friend".

The whole theme of this story to me is too much of a good thing can be bad, down to the very name of the manga itself. Satou is so hyperfocused on Shio that she'll do literally anything to keep things that way up to and including murdering any and all who get a little too close, and Shio is so hyperfocused on being needed/loved by Satou that Satou is literally her entire world. Fuck the consequences.

By help, Shio needs to see proper counselling, and make connections with individuals who aren't using them to mask their own issues. Children are tragically abandoned by their parents at young ages all the time. Shio's situation is sadly not rare. That doesn't mean getting essentially abducted by some random stranger who provides them with the affection they were robbed of by their parents is a good thing, even if they are absolutely loving every minute of it. It doesn't help that Satou is so paranoid about Shio being taken away that she basically treats her like a bird in a cage in that apartment. Shio being with with this kind of confinement is a symptom of a greater problem, not an acknowledgement that what is happening to her is okay.

Mind you, I haven't watched the anime because I wanted to get the ending as presented by the manga so I don't know how this ends. I'm going to assume not well.

Not gonna lie, I really don't see how anyone can truly hope for Satou and Shio to end up together alone somewhere. It's seriously the creepiest, most grotesque ending I could possibly imagine. I mean, I guess that's par for the course with the nature of the story, but good god Shio needs real help..

Cute series, twenty chapters is enough. I’d like to see an author’s outline or table of contents before committing to reading the series so I can understand the pacing.

The “Wait for me” bit is what made the series worth it. They’re adhering to the law before getting serious about the relationship.

It seems the ailment has been dealt with since they’re co-habitating the same apartment. She wouldn’t have left the hospital if she wasn’t cured.

I’d like to see more of mangaka’s work about “adult life” in the future.

No, she's still ill. The whole future premise is that they'll eventually find a cure for her, but she's not going to let herself be caged up in a hospital until it happens. She's going to enjoy the outside world she can now, and the rest at some indeterminate time in the future.

Locks and keys are a pretty prominent theme in this story. The jewelry box is the really obvious symbolism, I mean it says it on the front page, but when you step back and look at the notion of a lock and key as a whole, it does do a good deal of shedding light on how she's going to treat her feelings moving forward -- namely not hiding them. That means she's going to be open with Fuwako about how she feels about her. But Fuwako isn't just an unwilling participant. Arisa puts up a wall between them, and Fuwako just goes and breaks it down in an instant. "You gave me the key". She's clearly accepted Arisa's feelings on some level.

As for whether or not they get together, I do err on the side that they do simply because I like that notion better. Open endings are open for a reason, after all.

Such a strange and sad story. There's hardly any context but the little girl seems to despair and kill herself on at least one occasion, and has the worst luck in others. I'd love to know more about this one.

A new childhood friend character will appear in the story soon, who apparently knew one of the MCs for 7 years and calls them her "angel".

How much you wanna bet that she's specifically a childhood friend of Kurokawa, and she really is someone who used her to look better, and wont take her image change well.

All I need from the ending of this series is for Kurumi (and co) to survive. The rest of civilization could rot for all I care. She deserves better.

Wow, do they actually teach LGBT topics at school in Japan or was that kind of set up a bit of artist fantasy? I sure could have used that lesson here in the states when I was like 10 years old. Would have made my life a hell of a lot less awkward going forward.
