I'm pretty conflicted about this one. The art is really nice, the sex scene are hot, but the dialogues are lame.
"That's called 69, sempai"...
Way to get technical in the middle of lovemaking.
They're teenagers doing it for the first time. Teenagers do and say dorky things.
I don't think it's the effect the author was going for, though I may be mistaken.
It's just the hentai trope where the characters have to describe everything they do, feel and see. "You clit is so cute", "your dick is so huge", "I can smell your juices", "oh, we are doing a 69", "I can feel my insides burning", "your breasts are so soft", "oh no, you can't do that, it' dirty", "It's so embarassing..." etc, etc.
When they have sex, most people, or even teenagers, don't talk that much. They act and feel. Words can and should be used to communicate with your partner, but not in that kind of logorrhea.
It's obvious Maruta is a hentai artist. The dialogues are porn fillers, because only moans for 10 pages wouldn't sell.
But... I love the way he draws and both characters are cute in their own way. So I dunno. Less sex and more cuddling and feelings would have been nice.
Exactly my thought. Noticing this was by Sir "Bait-and-Switch" Maruta I was extremely skeptical of this, but surprisingly it wasn't as bad as his other works. Unfortunately, even if you weren't aware of his previous works, this definitely gives off a cheap heterosexual "hentai" vibe (albeit, disregarding the first few pages of each chapter) solely due to the abhorrent dialogue. You honestly half-expect some dude to bulldoze himself in the infirmary and start fucking the girls left and right as he exclaims "deez lez pussi so tiht".
Although, I may be biased due to the fact that my standard for Lots of sex
yuri is a bit higher in comparison to het smut. I started liking yuri in the first place due to the notion of it being the "purest form of love". Still, I'm not necessarily saying genuine het romance in sex-centered manga is impossible; it's just that in my experience it seems to be more uncommon or half-assedly thrown in for the sake of filler.
When I see artists such as Maruta apply their generic " SUPER!! fuckoo-festo doujin #69 " scheme to a potentially great short story such as this (nice art and sex scenes, interesting character designs), I'm always left disappointed.
