Unlike a lot of people here i didnt like Seju but i agree that this story was a dumpster fire and was always suprised when people thought it was written so well. There are way better stories out there.

Also neither Seju or Sumin really felt like they learnt any life lessons by the end of it.

I don't care about Seju that much, for me it was more that instead of wrapping up the story smartly they started adding in extra forced drama to keep the story going even longer.

In the end i think this is just a melodrama akin to old American soaps like 'These are the days of our lives' (I don't watch Korean dramas so can compare it to that) so the writing was never going to be that great.

Nah. I just sometimes randomly check comments, especially if it's series I used to read or I'm interested in reading. New chapter dropped so I checked comments out of curiosity, to see if people still complain about the same stuff. They do, which make me feel like dropping it was the right call.

You have some fun hobbies.

That's what forum is for, isn't it?

I do the same with WDTFS, its probably more common than one would think.

They should just scrap everything and start on a new IP. Take what they've learnt from their mistakes through out this manwha and write a new story. They have the capacity to write a complicated story but they need to have it planned properly from the start without leaving parts of the plot feel unresolved etc.

Some interesting stuff in here.

https://foreignpolicy.com/2019/07/04/why-young-koreans-love-to-splurge-shibal-biyong-millennial-fuck-it-expense/

"According to Statistics Korea, in 2015 seven out of 10 young people believed inequality was a major problem—and with reason: Among countries in the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), for example, South Korea ranks 31 out of 36 on income inequality, according to the latest available data. In 2018, youth unemployment reached its highest level since 1999, in the aftermath of the 1997 Asian financial crisis. Part of the blame for these problems lies with South Korea’s chaebol—giant family-owned conglomerates—which still monopolize much of the country’s economy and stifle entrepreneurship, leaving young Koreans competing to enter the hierarchical and gerontocratic world of chaebol jobs for want of any alternative."

"alggumba" is the twitter account for the team rather than their own personal artist accounts.

The writer still uses the same twitter account so at the moment it would just be speculation that the writer has changed.

How is it not part of the story? Does this manga have a plot I am unaware of?

Well the author doesn't tag it as SQ which is the tag use for the strip usually so it's technically not part of the story.

I pointed that out a few pages ago but it was easily missed within all that discussion. Everything originally gets posted to her Weibo account along with her other non-SQ strips but she will tag relevant chapters with SQ.

So this Chapter 189 ISN'T Their Story, right? Is it going to be removed (or at least listed as something else) at some point? People are getting confused.

It's still good though, and the translators went to the trouble of translating it, so I hope it stays on this site in some capacity.

Agreed—I think it’s a wonderful piece. It certainly looks like it’s not Their Story, though.

Yeah the author hasn't tagged it on Weibo as SQ so there is a high chance it's not.

I have a hard time believing that Sumin has an actual inferiority complex and not just low self esteem at that part of the story. Have to be careful when diagnosing mental health as symptoms are often shared. Which chapter in particular are you mentioning. (I only skimmed through Paradise as i have no interest in the side stories themselves)

And in real life what Seju, and maybe Sumin, needed is good psychotherapist and pills, not just sleeping pills and some island with hot girl, lol. But, yeah, it’s simple, nice story.

Both Seju and Sumin definitely could do with psychological help, but sadly it is South Korea which has quite a stigma towards mental health and has the second highest suicide rate in an OECD country.

That was always my big question with this story.
If both Seju and Sumin went for more than 10 years around this obsessive cycle, I find it pretty unrealistic how suddenly Sumin broke it when she found Sungji.
Seju still struggling is more realistic imo.

They both have different mental health issues and i don't feel like Sumin is portrayed as being cured of hers. Mental health is a complex issue, there are many types and then individuals experience it differently.

I've always read this as SOL with a sub plot about a GL romance. I think the blurb sometimes makes it feel like they aren't selling it as one.

Ah, maybe I should have explained better: the part I relate to about her is not her revenge on Seju, but rather the self-destructive way in which she handled the cheating. Trying to go out with a lot of girls, partying a lot, and also her “traumatic” flashbacks whenever she was with some girl etc.

I just want to say that the self destructiveness wasn't how she handled the cheating, it's how Sumin handled being physically and mentally scarred by Sejus brother. (Whether you agree with the way she handled it or not) Don't forget that originally Sumin tried to move on after the cheating by living by herself, and then was kidnapped.

Hey in Team GJ’s defense, ch 108 does perfectly capture the mixed vibe of enjoying Valentines Day with your new gf while doing things that deep down make you miss your ex.

Maybe the series should have been called What Did Your Ex Say

Yeah i think we read two different versions of chapter 108 :P

I read ch 108 more as "something is rotten in the state of Denmark".

Haha. It just feels too out of place for me to take it as a serious chapter.

But yeah you've made your position pretty clear on that chapter in previous posts. You don't have to go through it again ;p

OK, this is my question about publication. I was under the impression that WDTFS-proper ended with Sumin and Sungji getting back together. I also (randomly) saw some later chapters that seemed to me to be in the nature of epilogue and/or preview for another story.

(As I said, all the sources I saw were unofficial—right around the time I was considering a Lezhin sub, that brouhaha about them being assholes to their authors happened. So I pretty much lost touch.)

So what exactly are Paradise and One, and where did/do they appear?

Paradise is a side story prequel based on Sumin & Sejus relationship before the main story while One focuses on Seju after the main story and is the current side story. Then there is chapter 108 which is based after the main story and kinda comes across as a gag chapter and stars Sumin and Sungji.

I still think the authors are trying to milk the series for what it's worth. They call these side stories but they end up feeling more like extra seasons in the main story.
