The worst part is that considering how rushed the pacing was and that they even moved seasonal events from future years back, it really feels like they planned to milk as much as possible from the game and shut it down once interest fails enough from the start.

I want to have faith that it wasn't all a money pump scheme from the start, but we will never know either way unless somebody internal to the decision-making discloses. I feel like it wasn't though. The quality of content provided didn't start slipping until very recently.

Y'know what, after watching that video, maybe I should watch playthroughs of MagiReco on YouTube. Would certainly help me solidify my position as amongst the most knowledgable anime-onlys (if not the most knowledgable anime-only).

If you want to do that, definitely start with watching the main story chapters. As a warning, MR main story recordings are very messy. One person has recorded all of JP's Arc 1, with their own English subtitles, and some of NA Arc 1, but to date nobody has recorded all of NA Arc 1. There are people working on it though and once they're done with it, I'd recommend Muffinrecord for their videos. Muffin is aiming for a total archival.

It's still not going to be the same because some small details regarding the fights/enemies that show up will be lost, but for just getting the main story experience, it'll be pretty close. If you want to go deeper than the main story, it'll be an absolute catastrophe if you're watching things blind and out of order, so feel free to ask if you want pointers.

Of course once I get around to it, I'll be posting a few more videos too, but those will be catered to my personal preferences and not a complete archive by any measure.

This series is really emotionally draining. I've realized there's not very many fluffy, feel good moments. The author is great with cliffhangers and ending hooks, as well as generally resolving the immediate situation in the following chapter, but those constant cliffhangers and heavy content are this story's biggest strength, weakness, and now something I mildly dislike.

I hope there's a long break between this release and the next one.

Anyway, regarding the actual chapter, yay cool, Shiho's backstory. Hate third-party entrances as a way of introducing relationship conflict, even worse if it's a high school/childhood crush, but the sequence of events that leads to us sympathizing with Shiho was well-done.

Its kind of a weird logic to keep on fucking people to make her brain believe what happend that day was like any other day , i have known true rape victims and all of them are quite afraid of sex or being touched after that.
Like how the girl dont let her friend touch her but then was having sex with more dude thus letting them touch her.

i remember even having to say things like "im gonna hug you now , are you ok with that?" in order to not make the other person tremble in fear and be prepared mentally for a simple hug

Aversion to touch is one of the possible results. Different life experiences, environment, who the assaulter is, and so many other factors will change how people react though. Just as an example, one of the common things that can happen when children are sexually assaulted is that they can exhibit more sexual behaviors (then or later on in life), aversion to casual touch, or both. I use the example of children mostly because I can easily cite something for it, although it applies for other age groups too.

This survivor's story actually parallels the manga's story in quite a few ways. To sum up the similarities, she was raped in high school, did not officially report it, felt shame due to a culture that emphasized virginity/purity, and practiced unsafe sex as a coping mechanism.

There's more than one type of rape survivor and just want to weigh in on the other side.

Marisa to kill Reimu just to make a point. I've read a very believable story where Marisa committed suicide that actually moved me to tears. There's a decent story where she ascends to become a Magician youkai and kills Remilia in revenge because she thinks that Remilia killed Reimu, too.

There's lots of depressing Touhou doujins, so can't say this is for sure the one Anjelika was talking about. Passion For Your Sake does have Marisa attempt suicide though.

Manticore gets shipped with Nightmare. Also their ship name 夜蝎 means Night Scorpion and that sounds cool. As for Blue Poison, her main ship is with Glaucus.

That comic's hilarious. it seemed like their primary form of bonding was through sitting in the same dorm corner together and it sort of was. What a terrible doctor, leaving them sitting among the cardboard boxes. They don't even have anything to sit on.

Didn't know Manticore could get a monster-like hand? And why not, I could get behind this pairing without nothing anything about their backstories. This is only half-done, and there's supposed to be a second part.

Wow that shows half of my operators in the exact positions they were placed in. Probably is a common set-up.

Today's daily map risks are EXTREMELY hard. The 3 risk one that buffs Fanatics basically lets them oneshot most operators because there's another risk where every operator has reduced HP.

Good thing about today's map though is that risk 8 is relatively achievable without touching the risk 3 contingencies.

Found a low rarity guide for anyone who needs it! It's also mostly E1 operators so it's even easier to accomplish, though it relies on heat pump RNG so it might take a while to get it done. Here's the video. It says there's a 30% success rate but that's pretty good considering the team comp.

The only thing I could focus on in the beginning was the Touhou music. XD

After I learned it was being canceled, I logged in a grand total of 2 more times. Just deleted it entirely earlier today. Won't waste my time on the JP version, and I doubt I'll try any other mobile games again. Yes, you could say I'm salty with a side of extra salt.

MR was not able to live up to its full potential, which is an utter shame. The closure came out of nowhere given how active the community was and what could have been if the game had been managed a different way. You have a right to be salty haha.

I've been amusing myself with creating my own archives of personally impactful scenes as well as themed memo teams. They're as themed as I can make them anyway. Surprisingly, Iroha has no easily available passive memos that only feature her. She does have a bunch but they're all rewards for buying physical merchandise.

Have been recording both cutscenes and battles seamlessly, so as to replicate the in-game experience better. "Choreographed" the chapter 6-6-4 solo fight, as choreographed as it can get with only three turns of content. It's been fun! I think I'll upload any videos I end up recording to Youtube so they won't take up space on my computer.

I've also been following any serious archival efforts. MuffinRecord is the best I've seen so far. They're really serious about it. So much content, with the complete homescreen quotes being the most stand-out. They've already finished the IroYachi Final Battle lines just like what I was planning on doing. Bit worried if they'll finish the main meat of the story, namely main story, another story, and events, especially since their mental health has been taking a battering, but what they've accomplished so far is amazing. They've finished all of the MSS except two. Almost all 92 of them. Jesus.

At the end of the day, I switch between being content with how I'm making the most of things, and then sad at all the progress I'll lose, the specific combinations of girls and memos I enjoyed using. Part of me practically thinks that once the server shuts down and I completely move to the JP server, I'll just find something else to focus on story-wise anyway. The chances of me ever rewatching everything are almost zero. But for now, I'll let myself be attached. I've gotten bored and left plenty of gacha games before, but this is the first time one has been shuttered on me. Might as well enjoy what's left, while I can still call it “mine".

煌喉 is Blaze x Greythroat. Putting it into lofter got me pics of them. I'm not sure what 莫菲 is. Got me this.

After some searching I have an answer. 莫菲 refers to Mostima (莫斯提马) and “Phoenix" (菲尼克斯). "Phoenix" showed up in the Code of Brawl event with the code name Suffering. Some(?) of the CN fandom refers to her as Phoenix because that's what she seems to be based off of and a datamine of her file included a similar profile name.

Anyway if you want fanart of them, search for 舟莫菲 instead. There's very little, so it's amazing you find the incomplete tag in the first place lol.

Now for something cursed from /u/. I don't know why but I just find this ship gross even though they are not blood related and I even find incest okay like Taiyaki's works.

It's often a matter of presentation and expectation I think. Taiyaki's 1 x 1/2 for example starts off with incest as the premise and then goes backwards in explaining it. We are also immediately placed in the shoes of the main character and are privy to her feelings, which theoretically makes us more sympathetic to her from the get go. Ifrit and Silence on the other hand aren't blood-related but they have been primarily presented as a wholesome child-parent relationship (minus the human experimentation part). Her profile also makes it clear she's invested in the relationship between Silence and Saria and the relationship between all three of them, which would be sort of weird if she actually wants Silence for herself.

If things were different though, and it was hinted that Ifrit had a secret crush on Silence, a crush backed up with a "well-written" depiction of her feelings, how ever people want to define well-written, we might feel different about this ship.

Thankfully we will not need to re-evaluate this because Ifrit x Silence is a crack ship with no canon evidence. Saria x Silence is end-game and Ifrit is their child. End of story. XD

Also only now I realized those slugs lower your def permanently and how much of a bs it is.

It is utter bullshit. My ranged operators also aren't strong enough to take them down fast. I even tried using Manticore because I was hoping her 50% dodge ability and supposedly decreased chances of being targeted could keep her safe, but nope. The slugs still aim for her and take her down in two shots. There might be strategies that only need E1s but you'd have to search for them to see if they exist.

It is a lollipop. If you unlock enough of her profile, there's a part where her teammates go around telling everyone her quirks. You can also see it clearly in her card art.

Hey risk 15 is already really good. We've also got more than a week left.

It took me a while to understood everything, but from what I got in order to unlock challenges for daily map, I need to unlock them reaching certain lvl with risk on normal map? It says unlock at rank 1 and 2. Now that you said it and I checked again, I'm supposed to unlock them beating the daily mission?

Each map's challenges and contract unlock conditions are separate from each other.

Take today's rotating map, Desolate Desert - it has three ranks. To unlock rank 1, you just have to beat the map. To unlock rank 2, you need to beat the map with at least risk two. And to unlock rank 3, you have to beat the map with at least risk four.

Risk is increased by taking on additional contingencies, which are essentially conditions that make things harder for us. Each contingency has a differing amount of risk associated with it, from one to three. You just have to mix and match them for what type of challenge you want while still reaching the appropriate risk level.

I have no idea if this made sense so if it's still confusing, we can continue explaining more lol.

This is quite generic to be honest, but that's okay, it's not aspiring to be more than a fun yurified superhero manga. It is indeed very similar to Gamma. I personally would prefer having more of the angst and drama, but it's cute as it is. I'll see it through to the end.

Nice, you got 4s OG Homura back. I had shit luck with rolls, only one limited, 1s RikaRen, and I had to roll extra for them because I got spooked on the sixth day. Well MR will still be around. It's heartening to see multiple translation projects in the works.

Edit: Oooh I'm really excited now. Just looked more carefully over the translated content compilation a Reddit user put together. There's more translated works than I expected, including a complete translation of the recent third anniversary event.

Do any of the main characters have feelings for the other ? I don't mind slow burns ,hell, I read the LNs of Adachi and Shimamura and those were sloooow,but burned consistently and I don't want to read a manga where the characters act gay as hell but never confirm anything, I have been disappointed too much already.

Nothing is confirmed and the subtext tag is for real. The author has explicitly said she does not want to label this work as yuri, although she doesn't mind people thinking of it that way. To be clear, the author is also not trying to lead the readers on, this is just the story she wants to tell. It does get pretty gay at times, but if you're looking for explicit yuri this is not it. It is a story more about the relationship between two girls and the nature of the loneliness they share.

...does any reader still truly think Yashiro is a weird normal girl with blue hair? It's been clear from the moment she was introduced that she is an alien and does not adhere to our human logic when it comes to her appearance and body. Her and her brethren literally mold themselves into something that looks like a human.

Chapter two was looooooooong. Am glad I waited to read it. It's a little painful seeing Shima having thoughts like meeting with Tarumi is similar to cheating, because of how protective Adachi is. I hope that'll be resolved relatively soon. Oh and I also hope Shima will start letting her guard down more around Adachi. They're not 'normal' people by any stretch, but having to keep secrets and hide what you're feeling that often has to be tiring.

She's actually an upcoming vtuber from Hololive that got terminated/quit herself because she apparently 'leaked' her live2D models before her debut was supposed to happen (she posted a stream on twitcast with her live2D which was supposed to be monitored by her manager and she forgot to delete it) and there were rumors she had a boyfriend, which she denied and asked the 'fans' to stop harrassing him as they are just friends. This was just the beginning as antis proceeded to doxx her phone number and her adress and started harrassing her. Basically the company behind Hololive blamed Aloe for what happened and suspended her shortly after debuting for two weeks. Those were almost over when the statement came from Hololive that she'd be retiring from the company.

Being doxxed is a nightmare, and also I don't really get what she did 'wrong'. Did people just start picking on her for no reason? Because she's new? That is horrible and I wonder how much of the final result was Hololive suspending her and how much was her not having enough support to recover from this.

I'm kinda glad that the company behind Nijisanji (where both Kana and Tomoe belong to) responded to this with measures against online harrassment and hired/arranged a company to watch over them and create an online report system so if they were harrassed they could report it. I'm still very hesitant about their safety still, even though these measures were put into place. They can be this happy together and open because they can preserve their anonymity.

Kana has a medical field job too, so yeah, anonymity is really needed. Have they been subjected to any attacks in the past?

So, EN server seems pretty dead. Support points are way down, mirror battles are down, a growing number of my supports haven't logged in since the days following EOS announcement, and Discord is quiet on the EN front. But a good amount of people seem to have moved to JP, so the MR english-speaking community won't just vanish at least.

Playing NA MR feels sort of peaceful now. Like dust settling on the graves of the passed. Well that's a bit dramatic cause half of my supports are still playing, but I'm not unhappy with how things are. It feels a bit like when I first became enamored with MR, knowing nobody in the community but feeling sucked into the story and world of MR by its own merits. There's a gentleness to that loneliness.

I'm taking my time working through the remaining MSS and events, as well as rewatching certain main story parts. The Mikazuki Villa Christmas event had a really nice story. I'm glad they addressed Sana and Felicia's lack of family in it and I teared up by the end. Major plus that Iroha and Yachiyo were in their parent modes. Another point in its favor for having secretly excited Yachiyo as well as Yachiyo fangirling over Iroha.

I believe most people here have either moved to JP or quit entirely, but what are you all up to?

Edit: Oh and this method of preserving game snapshots is now a thing. Takes up a ton of space but it's cool somebody figured out any way of doing this.
