Wow, it’s actually really refreshing that Nakajima isn’t the first woman that Mihoko had semi-romantic feelings for. So often it’s the pursuer has experience and the person being pursued is completely oblivious to the advances of the other, and I think it’s good for both of them if she already has her attraction to women figured out, more or less.

It’s also interesting that there’s a real possibility of her being a lesbian, it’s pretty common in real life for women to only realize their sexuality later in life, even after having children and marrying a man, but those kinds of people don’t usually get represented in media.

Those new characters are interesting, even if they won’t appear again. I love this manga so much

Oh wow the body dysphoria is very relatable on a deeply personal level but I am kind of worried the dad might still be as sexist/heteronormative as before and would not let his "daughters" hunt/be boyish or marry/date other women instead of men. I wish there was a part clarifying he would have supported Chiaki's interests even if Chiaki wasn't trans. Would have been even more wholesome.

Honestly thats how a lot of parents are, even if they’re supportive. I wish there was a part like that too, where even if he wasn’t trans he could still find acceptance, but it’s definitely realistic that even accepting parents still usually have a lot of ingrained sexist/heteronormative ideas.

The cover where Chiaki is strung up on the meat hooks is so visceral and perfectly sets the tone for this. I’m really relieved that Chiaki got his happy end there, wonderful story.

I don't really agree with you here. Though Hiro may be "a person", she is absolutely not "a human person". Her needs are different than a human's, and there's nothing wrong with her being treated in accordance with those differences.

One thing is obvious that she needs the lab's resources to survive and grow, considering how often they talk about replacing parts or updating her programming. A human child doesn't need a team of trained engineers to keep it alive and raise it. Another is that, for the most part, she seems perfectly happy in the lab - she lives a relatively normal life, and she considers the team her family, which they each seem to reciprocate.

A better analogy might be a human child with a developmental disorder and an illness that requires her to receive regular surgery and continued care from a team of specialists. Also, she's an orphan. If any human were in that position, and lived a life similar to Hiro's, I think most people would consider her rather well taken care of.

I’m a little late to the discussion but alongside these very good points about Hiro. Right at the beginning of chapter three Chika invites Hiro out, but Hiro declines because she has an experiment that day. Chika responds “No, It’s fine, that’s pretty much your job.” so I think it’s fair to also say that her participation in these experiments is like a day job of sorts for her.

I’d love it if dynasty started getting more korean/chinese/thai comics. Right now I think that’s the biggest difference between mangadex and dynasty in terms of yuri representation

I don’t think they were free range, you never see them leaving the barn and they appear to just get fed inside their cages. Chickens are surprisingly tenacious, in fact on many islands like hawaii chickens are an an invasive species that totally destroys native insect and reptile populations by eating anything and everything.
