Btw, here's another parallel that I thought is as great as the one between ch 1 & 16 (Appreciate the fact that Yuu is holding onto the physical object of her love rather than grabbing for stars, which, IMO, symbolize her initial idealized love)
I think someone mentioned on a Youtube video that it also represents that it's meant to symbolize that she has finally accepted a love that is grounded and more real as opposed to the idealized impression she had. Yuu actually WANTS this relationship to work, and she's going to put in the effort to make it happen.
This is such a good message because real life relationships are not like the stories--they're complex, require hard work, and need constant, honest communication. This is why I enjoy this series so much. I've never seen this message in a romance/shoujo manga before, let alone a yuri one.

Vol 2 cover is still best cover, aesthetically-speaking, but this is a night scene by Nakatani so I do like it a lot. I also like that she started using particular scene from the vol itself as the cover rather than just drawing random illustrations like with vol 1 & 2, cuz man this scene, how it's composed here, along w/ the obi phrase summarize some of the major points in the vol rlly well.
Actually, each cover highlights a significant scene from the volume, and each obi too. It's been a while since I've read the earlier chapters tho, so I might not entirely recall the importance of each of those scenes.
V1 was likely Touko's confession at the end of chapter 1
V2 was them walking home together at the end of chapter 10, after they've come to a minimal mutual understanding of what Nanami wants, and Yuu accepting her requests, + "Is it okay if we hold hands while walking home today?" Plus Touko had just asked her to never change lol. Touko is feeling relieved and all, but Yuu's lie weighs on herself.
V3 and V4 were a bit more obvious in their references to the volume's contents, but yeaaah those scenes tho.
V3: Yuu realising what Touko's requests meant, and realising she couldn't cross those lines, even if it's what she would personally truly want.
V4: After Touko has opened up about her worries, I guess? Sayaka feeling close to Touko, Yuu feeling the distance she'd like to cross. The covers designs are wonderful imo, it all matters! :D
I also feel like V4's volume is kind of foreshadowing that some dark stuff happened in this volume, what with the revelation of how deep Touko's self-esteem and insecurities run.
Overall, not bad. Like...it's pretty mediocre, but it definitely is something that you can read when you just want to experience warm and fuzzy feelings.
Personally, I think the story arcs were a little out of place. I think Lily Love is one of Ratana's earliest works, right? So it's understandable why the story is kind of all over the place and why the drama sometimes felt off. Her later works are a lot more coherent. Maybe that's why she ended it with only 32 chapters and is revisiting this work with a spin-off. Maybe she'll be able to tell a more solid story with a firmer plot that way.
Okay...am I the only one who got a little confused? Maybe it's because it's in anachronistic order, but here's what I got so far and please tell me if I got it right.
Kotori confessed to Umi a while back, but Umi took it as just a platonic "I love you." Kotori then kept confessing and re-confessing to Umi, who kept taking it as platonic. This eventually hurt Kotori. HOWEVER, it turns out, Umi actually took it as romantic, but kept playing it off as platonic because she doesn't feel like she would be a good enough girlfriend for Kotori, whom she wants to keep protected. Additionally, Kotori's multiple confessions just kept hurting Umi because she felt bad that Kotori loves her so much, but Umi still can't bring herself to accept Kotori's feelings.
Am I right? I'm still trying to figure it out as I'm writing this...
Pretty much. She just wanted to protect her and realized that the reason why she was so desperate to protect her was because she loved her.
Ohh, okay, then. So it was really just Umi being a dumb-dumb, Kotori getting frustrated, and the both of them feeling guilty about unintentionally hurting each other. Got it.
Also, wtf is with this discussion about grammar and syntax? Like...just enjoy the Kotoumi, guys. We seldom get any wholesome doujin of these two.
Lol, I see nearly 2000 comments here. Is it somehow popular? Some drama was made by basing on this manga? Just asking, cause I'm not very in anime/drama things.
I highly recommend it because it's not like a lot of yuri/romance/shoujo manga and actually subverts some tropes associated with those genres. Some people find it frustrating because it's a slow burn romance, but a lot of people also enjoy that. It also gets surprisingly deep and emotionally complicated later on.

Mophead is hands down the best wingman ever. Not only does he help Sun Jing with her romantic endeavors, he even protects her crush when things get sticky.
WHY CAN'T WE ALL HAVE A MOPHEAD IN OUR LIVES???!!!
Exactly, and I think this is why Yuu is the better match for Touko. Yes, Sayaka does understand how Touko works and what her motivations are and gives her privacy, but this is ultimately not very healthy for Touko because it just perpetuates her cycle of self-loathing and her self-esteem issues. And it doesn't help that Sayaka is so caught up in her own jealousy and "I've known Touko longer than Yuu has" attitude that it prevents her from really doing anything to help Touko.
Yuu, on the other hand, eventually understands just how unhealthy Touko's motivations and self-esteem issues are and is doing something about it. Sure, it may not be something that Touko wants and she's doing it without really talking to Touko first, but she's doing it because she loves Touko (whether she realizes it or not) enough to do that. She doesn't want Touko to continue hating and punishing herself, and she'll be the "bad guy" if it means Touko has a chance for a happier life. Sayaka cares about Touko, but she's ultimately a little more selfish than Yuu.
Sayaka & Yuu are almost two sides of the same coin. They both know about Touko's situation and both have to hide their feelings & remain at a certain distance from her in order to stay by her side. But unlike Yuu, Sayaka is comfortable with the distance. It's good to compare last chapter with this latest one. While Sayaka initiated the conversation and even got Touko to talk about her worry with her, that confrontation just ended without ever going anywhere far, unlike Yuu's confrontation this chapter, which was really up close and personal. "I'm fine with you knowing," & that's good enough for Sayaka. She's fine with just knowing, unlike Yuu who decided that Touko shouldn't remain in her self-destructive behavior. Always the first one to learn, never the first to take action.
Your point just made me notice something about Yuu and Touko's relationship. Someone brought up to me that Yuu is changing Touko, but I don't think that's the case. Touko pointed out to Yuu a while ago that she loves her just the way she is, and Yuu has already realized the reasons why. However, that isn't the case with Yuu to Touko. She wants Touko to realize and understand that she loves Touko just the way she is, as well, and that for her to hate herself is to be unfair to the both of them.
And I feel like that's what Yuu is going for with this whole "changing the ending." Whether or not Yuu has fully admitted it to herself yet, she wants Touko to be in this relationship on equal grounds with her. She wants this relationship to be mutual, and if Touko is going to be in it hating herself, then Yuu wants Touko to realize that that isn't fair and healthy to the both of them.
It's so, SO good how there's this stress on relationships being an equal, loving partnership, and I'm so glad that Yuu has finally realized this to be the case and is doing something about it. Also, her doing something about it just shows that she WANTS this relationship to work. She WANTS to keep being with Touko, and she wants the BOTH of them to be happy. She has a strong sense of self-respect (that, in my opinion, a lot of shoujo and yuri protagonists don't have) and love for another person that it's making me feel so many fluffy things <3
(Also, I hope all of this made sense. I've been working all day @_@)
That's one small bathtub
They're students. Budget living is the only way to go orz...
"How can you say you hate something I lo..." The covered up word is obviously love. She finally admitted it, at least to herself. Now she's setting out to make Nanami stop hating herself, which is step 1 on the path to her being able to stop lying about her own feelings... You go Yuu! You might need Sayaka's help... I don't know if she'll be willing, though. In order to get her help, Yuu will probably have to admit her feelings to Sayaka, which opens up a whole can of worms...
Sayaka is so stuck up on her self gratification trip that she is the only one who Touko needs and can help her It will be hard to get her to admit otherwise. Especially with that other person being Yuu. She is in self denial as is that there is something more between Touko and Yuu than just Sempai and kouhai even though she does already realize that there is. She already harbors some jealousy towards Yuu and dear god her head would explode if she knew what they were doing in Yuu's bedroom this chapter.
Hmmm I wonder what Sayaka was imaging would happen if she had left Yuu and Touko alone in the bath together.

I wish this show had had more episodes to work with, many of its elements felt so half baked. Completely one note antagonists were probably the worst of it, but of course more Izetta and Finé would have been nice too. As it is, the interesting starting premise was squandered somewhat. And yet they somehow managed to fit in all the pointless but apparently mandatory shower and breast measuring scenes, sigh.
Ah well, I suppose we have doujin like this to fill in some gaps!
Exactly. I feel like if this anime had twice the amount they did (or even something like 16 episodes), it would have been a major hit. The writers had to cram all sorts of main ideas and plot points down, which gave it such a condensed and rushed feel sometimes and caused some loose ends to stay loosened. We could have had more development of the antagonists and supporting characters. Most importantly, we could have gotten more out of Fine and Izetta's relationship, In fact, I daresay the subtext would have been made actual canon like they did with Yuri on Ice.
Overall, it was a big idea with a lot of great potential, but the timing was what hindered it. Though it seems unlikely, I hope someone picks up on this show again in the future and does it proper justice.
A would be the go-to option and is quite predictable, but not unwelcome and would probably lead to sexy times.
B, on the other hand, opens up a whole other can of worms. A flustered, shy Mari would be super cute, and just imagine how Kanan would feel about that. She's probably be like, "I...I never knew Mari could be this cute..." and then sexy times with flustered, shy Mari ensues.
Either way, we gettin' sexy times ┐( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)┌
Steamy...WAY too steamy...but I ain't complaining! This art is freaking gorgeous!
Also, does anyone know what happened to Fumika on page 14? Did she slip or something?
Really enjoyed this. I really liked the small details, like Kanade's legs wrapping around Fumiko's waist X3
But more than that, I really liked the communication that was going on. Fumika checked in and made sure Kanade was okay, stopped when she felt like Kanade wasn't feeling right, and Kanade told Fumika what she needed. It was so much better than the typical smut/porn without plot you usually read. You can tell that they actually love each other. It's not just fanservice.
Yeah, if you pay attention to the dialogue, it sounds like it can just be two close friends giving each other chocolate or it's one-sided on Genji's part. But it seems like Blizzard is REALLY trying to push for Gency right now. Either way, I'm disappointed, but I'm not angry. If there IS something I'm mad at, it's Blizzard's poor way of not letting the audience know sooner so that the backlash could at least be somewhat less hostile and outraged. It's been a pain in the ass--on both the pro- and anti-Pharmercy sides--to deal with.
And yeah, there's a lot of "TRACER'S NOT GAY" stans celebrating the fact that Genji and Mercy are giving each other chocolates. Ugh...really lets you know what kind of people they actually are.
I think Honoka means that Kotori smells like sweets because she's thinking about food while Umi is thinking about how Kotori smells good in a more sensual way.
Or, alternatively, it's a lost in translation joke where maybe "sweets" sound similar or sounds like another word for something more explicit.
I think it's without question that Honoka is the best wingwoman EVER. Everyone needs a friend like her.
Goddammit, why are all the cute and fluffy ones always the shortest?! I really hope the author continues with this concept some day!
