It's usually worse than that, Every harem, with a yuri crush, I've seen, the yuri crush girl initially hates the protagonist, because he is coming between her and her crush. Then slowly falls into his clutches, becoming just another girl chasing after him. The moral of her tale is all you need to "cure" a girl of lesbianism is somebody with a penis to pay attention to her.

I thought a sequel would be impossible but thinking about it, a happy ending would be something like they are coming in terms with the realization that they'll turn into background faceless character after this, still refusing to follow "the rules" and when is about to happen, a new chapter comes with the announcement that they'll get their own spin off and their right to keep living their own world, wouldn't that be romantic?

I was picturing something similar. Magu-chan and Misaki-chan, are repeatedly warned by the other heroines, they will be removed if they don't give up, on each other and go back to chasing protagonist-kun. Facing the certain oblivion of being written off, they declare their love for each other anyway. At the last minute, they learn they can stay. It turns out their relationship is very popular so the get to stay as a Lesbian sidecouple. And everybody lives happily ever after. Well everybody except the poor heroine who "wins" protagonist-kun. She is definitely getting the short end of the stick if you ask me.

I'm not sure if the story is about a weird reality show style manga, or if all of characters are just seriously breaking the 4th wall, but I reality liked iit. I would love to see an actual harem story, where a couple of the girls end up falling for each other, and give up on the guy completely. I think that would make a (mostly) het harem series, actually bearable to follow.

If it's a girl, there's no easy way of telling -- so she can claim her feelings are purely platonic aesthetic appreciation. But, in reality, that's not a thing. There's always an erotic component involved when you grope and fondle another person's body, especially if you're a teenager.

I'm pretty sure it's just a way to give horny boys fanservice, witout soiling the girls innocence.

I love Mari and Akko. They were my introduction to yuri manga. I've reread the back half of the Girlfriends manga, at least a dozen times. It's the perfect mix of romance angst, and humor. It's even got that little touch of het, that lets the reader know Mari and Akko's love is the real deal, and not just some girls' school love game. I hope Morinaga Milk has a few more Girlfriends one shots in store for us.

A) It's fiction.

B) At least some of the female artists we all know and love are possibly men writing under femenine pen names, so, y'know.

C) Human beings are, in rare cases, capable of empathizing and writing characters that are fundamentally different from themselves. There are almost certainly men who write good yuri and women who write good yaoi, and everything inbetween.

D) This author is not any of that. Oh my god this author is SO NOT any of that. I'm telling you: Space alien.

You make good points. Well except, I have a hard time telling gender, by japanese names, anyway. I rely on the authors' baka-updates bio page to give me their genders'. It still doesn't change the fact that yuri written by a man feels like a lie, to me. I can't help it, it's just how I feel. I evidently am not the only one. Male yuri writers must be using feminine pen names for some reason.
I don't know if the author is an alien or not not, but he is definitely out of touch with his subject matter.

I've read some pretty steamy yuri written by woman. It's just as graphic as men's stories, but as a general guide line men take it over the top. I really can't explain it well. I just know it when I see. It may just be my imagination, fueled by gender stereotypes, though.

The picture of Mel snuggled in next to her master, eagerly awaiting her story, on page 2 of Master and an Autumn Day, was so cute and innocent. Mel seemed way younger than twelve. Later in the story when master had Mel on the the bed, I was totally creeped out by it. If Itou Hachi truely means to make Mel and the master a couple, she should stop portraying Mel so child like.
