The fact that Azurite is fucking ripped always manages to take by surprise when is shown.

No kidding. Beneath the adorkable exterior, Azurite is packing the physique of a professional kickboxer. Seriously, does this girl work out like 6 hours a day while marathoning anime or something?

I can't recall: has it ever been shown if her civilian persona is similarly ripped? If not, it may be just a part of her transformation, given how all blues appear to specialize in close-quarters combat.

@Arcane dropping the science on us, respect.

I finally get it, Blues are fucking dorks. They're so cute lol

Except Lunarite, for some reason. Was she miscast or is it all just a big coincidence? Also, I really hoped that when asked about her sword's name, Azusa would manage to say something like "It's just a weapon to fight evil, it doesn't need a name", but I guess a chuuni name worked just as well to establish her rep. :-)

Wait....the author is German???

Possibly, yes. Her website says: "I am a graduate student of postcolonial area studies from Germany."

tfw when you are paid to write a superhero comic but you'd really rather draw lesbian porn.

I mean, I have nothing against either of those things, and I am not against the combo, but in this case, I can't help but wonder, why combine them? How does the sex reinforce the themes of (super)heroic sacrifice and alienation from baseline humanity? How do their superpowers feed into the Bastioneers' sexual lives and preferences? The author doesn't care about those things, he just swings wildly between dumping world-building on one page and drawing bouncing boobs for the rest of the chapter. I mean, for crap's sake, this is the first chapter where we get to see the "other side" of the great wall (of whatever that barrier is called), but instead of treating it like a huge chapter-spanning reveal, he dedicated a good half of it to the leads bonking each other silly.

Really happy that the father survived in the end. Chiaki deserved to be happy, after all the suffering he went through.

"If you were a guy, I might wanna date you too"

Excuse you, Kase Tomoka? Care to explain yourself here?

I mean she is hiding the fact that she a lesbian (although she could be bisexual).

I thought she was exclusively Yamadasexual.

A "plantpersonsexual", perhaps?

When will this arc end? It's already over half the length of the entire manga.

Huh, I just went back and checked, and the ninja arc did indeed start in chapter 32 and we are at 67 by now... My guess is that this will be the arc where the Almareiks get defeated?

OK, the bear came out of nowhere, and the last panel was too lewd for this wholesome superhero romp.

Wow, this story has finally made it into an official series after 5 years in limbo. :'D

But what if Ruby has also already recognized her, but because she is a proper lady, she managed to stay professional and to keep both of their identities safe in front of an outsider?

Urg, Shark Vader...

Still beats the Disney trilogy, tho.

It is very likely that you are the only person on this forum to care. :D

I can't get behind this logic,

Because there is no logic behind this plot, just pure emotion and hormones. Let go of any expectation of consistent, consequence-aware behavior, and you may just enjoy this particular ride.

Also, I agree with everyone above that the biker girl is the only character worth my attention so far.

Austerity politics, in a thirsty-magical-girls comic? Oh Japan, what are you doing...

I wonder if the big theme of this story turns out that Kuzuryu's grasp on physical reality is particularly tenuous, which is why she can slip into imaginary roles so easily, and also perceives animals as sentient humanoid creatures.

ladies and gentlemen, the definiton of a useless lesbian.

I don't know if you could call someone who asked her crush out first truly "useless"...

Guys, I think we've reached peak yuri. Pack your shit and look for a new favorite genre: it just won't get any better than this right here.

If this story has a central theme beyond the Yuri, I would say is to find one's path father the one forged to you is no longer an option.

"A future is not given to you. It is something you must take for yourself."

I swear, they talk in this series so much, and explanations for everything seem so long-winded... I wonder if it's a translation thing or the original also felt that way (maybe it shouldn't surprise me, it's an adaptation of a novel :P)

That's pretty much standard fare in every work of speculative fiction I read outside of manga. This one is actually quite decent with its exposition, having delayed it until chapter 3 (I think) and gradually expanding it as the plot requires, instead of infodumping it all in the intro like 90% of mangas out there.

They worked so hard!

The problem with talented people is that they are often so focused on a long-term goal that they don't take the time to enjoy all the progress they are continuously making, burning themselves out emotionally and physically. I really hope the MCs don't end up that way...

Based is essentially recognizing someone for a strong yet principled take that you can see comes from within someone, typically with the implication that you agree with their take, or think it’s good.

So it's like saying that you agree with the principles someone expresses and/or lives by?

I gain more sympathy for the floating eyeball each episode

It is basically the beleaguered manager tasked with overseeing a horny, anti-social teenager at work that risks her life and social standing. I wouldn't want to be its (metaphorical) shoes.

Darn, that first page hit too close to home for me.

People that are obsessed with someone should never actually become a lover of that person. That's a recipe for total disaster. Shannon and the werewolf girl would be adorable together, and Maria and Dorothy just need to fuck already.

Based.

I've been meaning to ask you, what does "based" mean? I am really not up to date on internet dialects lately...
