Now I'm not an expert on shoujo by any means, but in the case of Citrus most of the complexity just feels like bad writing and unnecessary convoluting of the story by the author due to a lack of good ideas how to drive the story forward. Whereas I actually think there was a lot of depth in BiY, but not all of it was related to the main romantic plot, and it was in my opinion written a lot better and, yes, maybe also for an older audience since it was in a seinen magazine. (I don't think Yuri in shonen is actually a thing, except for fanservice purposes) But that's beside the point.

I know it isn't your impression, but yagakimi/BiY is shounen; all the sources I checked tagged it as such, and it even has comprehensive furigana in the Japanese version (reading guide to kanji, and on all kanji not just unusual/obscure stuff) - a strong indication of a younger audience that isn't fluent reading kanji.

My impression was actually that shounen yuri was milder, and in many cases was more for a "safe" (non-threatening to masculinity) way to explore the softer side of romance and relationships than titillation.

I believe YagaKimi was shounen soly because it was published in a Shounen magazine.

I think you misunderstand Orange post. The OneeLoli anthology and Eclair anthology are 2 differents anthologies and are not related, they are even not published by the same company. OneeLoli is published by Ichinjinsa and even serialized in Cmic Yuri Hime whereas Eclair where published by ASCII Media Work and not serialized.

For once, giving the potential cheater the benefit of the doubt paid off. Now, technically she slept with her new girlfriend and THEN broke it off with him, which, a little backwards. But you can tell she was seriously thinking about what to do since she went and called him as soon as she got home. And she's a teenager. I'll give her a pass. Comparisons to the previous series aside, this chapter makes me feel much better about where it's going.

Personally i don't feel better, precisely because they fucked before Youko break up. Not to mention making the boy like nothing more than just a plot device. He has done nothing, he was always ok for Youko to go with the other, we barely see him in 11 chapters, we never see them doing something together and worse of all, not only the break up was off screen (!!!!! Imagine treating something potentially big off screen) and you tell me he has accepted that her GF told her that she ditch him for a girl and he hold not grudge ? That's like plot convenienceat this maximum.
It's like a worse version of the BF arc in Girl Friends. At least, it's ending, not gonna lie that it's maybe for the better.
