It IS a oneshot- not sure why it says ch1 at top. The mangaka does say they want to do a ecchi followon set years later but its not in the works yet.

You can see the table of content in page 4. The mangaka said this series was supposed to be just an oneshot, but an editor contacted them so they made a couple more chapters to fill out a short volume.

Fall In Love With The Empress is another one, I don't know what the other one that's referenced would be.

I know of Female General and Eldest Princess although it is the general who is cross-dressing here (also has a dynasty tag). Else I only know of (het) otome games with that premise.

The other one I spoke of is 贵妃今天也要以身饲敌 (Today the Imperial Concubine Is Also Using Herself to Raise the Enemy.) Though in this one, the main characters is not the crossdressing emperor, but two concubines in her harem.

There are open endings and there is this. I have to give it to the author for not even attempting to resolve any of the plot threads.

This is the third yuri manhua involving a crossdressing female emperor that I know of. I wonder if there are any more of them.

Surprisingly no one has brought up this author's previous series, Koi to Uso/ Love and Lies, which managed to have an anime but got mixed reception. That series is het, but does have a gay character.
The premise reminds me of this oneshot called Trans Star which is one of the better genderbender works I've read, though I doubt the change is permanent in this case, since it's still published in a traditional shounen magazine and all.

Xiao (小) literally means 'little'. It's usually prefixed to a person's name to create a diminutive version of that name, not unlike adding -ie or -y to names in English. In this context of two close female friends referring to each other, it's the equivalent of -chan in Japanese.

Series to end in next month issue, with chapter 7 being the last one.

If not for the new chapter this month, I would have thought that Manio had abandoned this series. Still, missing four issues in a row this early on doesn't bode well for this manga.

This is decent as far as axed/rushed endings go. I was afraid that the author would go with an open ending, but we manage to have an unambiguous romantic conclusion here.

You understand why it took me 9 months to do that chapter, lol.

It's never pleasant when something you're working on is shat on at every turn.

I don't know when I'll do the next chapters, but I'll surely do, because not finishing something is against my work ethics.

Appreciate your work, but this series deserves to be shat on at every turn. Normally a series with shit writing can make up for it by providing guilty pleasure to its target audience. Meanwhile I'm not sure who the target audience of this steaming pile of garbage is. The mangaka should have stuck with writing smut shoujo with rapey dudes because it's clearly what they best at.
I wish Dynasty has more descriptive tags like 'shojo with yuri', 'shonen with yuri', 'ecchi with yuri', instead of just simply 'het'. There is a sea of difference between yuri works with some het elements (i.e Shoujo Manga Protagonist x Rival-san) and series where yuri is just thrown in to spice things up.

Three volumes is the standard length for axed series so I fear that's what's happening.

It won't be even enough to fill the third volume unless last chapter has 40+ pages. This is way too abrupt. Feels more like a downright cancellation rather than just premature ending.

Chapter 19 is already out. The official online platform is usually behind actual raw. The series is on short hiatus with Last chapter scheduled for August.

Being cut short helps with its chance of getting licensed, if you ask me. I notice that almost all obscure series licensed in English are on the shorter side (3,4 volumes or less). Scarlet got picked up by Seven Seas even though it was brutally axed with only 2 volumes. Meanwhile 10+ volumes series never get picked up unless they have anime. Publishers probably prefer short series because because it's less of a commitment and they can avoid diminishing returns on niche series.

I'm not going to speculate (here) but... it seems a lot of Yuri works with a certain tone have been getting the axe. A real shame because even if it's not the best having a lot of diversity is really nice for us Yuri lovers.

It's just recency bias. Manga get axed left and right on a weekly basis. Each series has its own circumstance (magazine, reader demographic, sales, author, editor...) so it's impossible to draw a trend out of individual cancellations. More yuri getting made also means more yuri getting axed. It's the nature of the beast.

It's here finally. This work won silver at last year Japan International Manga Award (the artist Monday Recover is in the photo). Relatively short too (6 chapters + extra).

The writer's name sounds pretty similar to the protagonist's, so I wonder if there is autobiographical element here.

And far too often, when people release a new chapter as an April Fools chapter, websites never actually update it with the real chapter, so you're just left with a joke of a chapter.

That's just the official online platform, not the place the manga is actually serialized in. Those sites are usually several chapters behind raws. The series is up to chapter 19 with this month issue of YuriHime, and actually ending next chapter.
