thanks for the analysis of the creepiest character in this series

i recently discovered that i can read… if the text manages to hold my attention. A great many thanks to Story About Buying My Classmate Once A Week for helping me with that.
Since then I've also read If I could Mail You a Book which was especially… relatable… simply because the characters are closer to me in age than to my daughter. And Purely by Accident, which was just a whole load of fun.

Then i remembered that an (Internet) friend of mine had written a book, and thought maybe i should give that a read. So now I'm reading I Feed Her to the Beast and the Beast Is Me is fuckin beautiful I want to cry
(and if, like me from a year or two ago you also can't read, the audio book version sounds fantastic (terrifying))

really happy to stumble over this.

Kira Kairi is a beautiful girl. Many people fall in love with her. She doesn't understand why. In the past, this has made her friendships with her friends difficult.

Kurata Hikaru is a poor girl without any skills. Her mother is very skilled at many things, but has experienced many hardships thru love. She becomes good at learning, and wants to use good schools to become rich.

Hikaru falls in love with Kairi.
She loses her ability to learn.
Hikaru confesses her love to Kairi, because she wants to be rejected and heartbroken.
Instead of rejecting Hikaru, Kairi suggests they become a couple. At first, Kairi wants to see Hikaru suffer, and fail, because she doesn't understand love and wants to destroy it.

But then she starts falling in love with Hikaru.
It's not clear if Kairi is more disgusted with herself because she's falling in love, or because she is by trying to destroy a person in love with her.

(n.b.: this text has not been peer reviewed by my six year old daughter, because I'm not sure her other mom will approve… or me, for that matter.)

For as much drama that’s in this comic, I really appreciate that Tong Tong’s little project here is just allowed to… work. She’s not overbearing, she’s not overly self conscious, Luxi isn’t uncomfortable, they just get to be sweet and kinky and they’re both into it. I can think of 50 different ways how the author could twist this to make it go wrong but instead it’s just cute. Honestly refreshing.

it only took me two weeks to realise that the 50 different ways things can go wrong here are probably all shades of grey.
