Perhaps, but I was never speaking of an equivalent. Just one change that I'm positive would steer the responses from this series being "cute" to something completely different given the elements in the plot.

I'm just gonna tell you what I told the NaruSaku fans a few months back. Don't be too sure it'll happen. It'll just be all that harder to swallow if it doesn't. Having a romantic relationship work out between the two for me would be the best case senario, not the inevitable end.

You're right. This was in fact a plot development done before. You know, like every plot development ever done in the history of ever. How dare this author not be the first person to ever tell a completely unique story without a single plot development having been done before.

But I dunno...I'm going to give Saburouta the benefit of the doubt that she wanted this chapter to be as predictable as it was, butttttt I have no clue if this direction will be for the better or not. I love this series on paper...but it just lacks a little in execution. Basically a far more benign version of Yui_7's works.

We shall see where this goes from here I suppose.

There's a difference between not being original and deliberately writing the same tropes that have been turning up in shoujo mangas for the past 15 years. It's gotten boring, 2-Dimentional and cliched, and like it or not that's a FLAW.

@ari-chan I'm not a scanlator nor do I speak Japanese fluently. That's why I'm here, reading like your are, asking for a bit of diversity. This pairing has quite a lot of fanart and doujin on this site. It's akin to the influx of MioxRitsu doujins from a while back that put me off the pairing for a while.

@Rye Yes I do know what oversaturated means, thank you. Do you? Also, what kind of logic is "don't like, don't watch" on a doujin website? I don't mean to put it rudely since I greatly appreciate the work but how does me not reading stop this pairing from clogging up the feed? I told you why I complained, I'm getting sick of seeing them. What I don't get is why you both take such offense to my personal preference. Not that I didn't expect it though.

At this point wouldn't it seem a bit of a genre change if they became a couple? At first that's what I wanted, but as I read on it just seemed less and less likely and I'd rather preserve the essence of the story rather than just fanservice. Then again, maybe I still wouldn't mind the yuri...

I haven't watched more than three episodes of the first season so I wouldn't know but the possibility of this being canon most likely depends on it's popularity amongst fans given that it's a web series. If it's not as popular as Weiss x the guy then it's less than likely to be canon.

on another unrelated note, every time we get a new chapter on DR, i cry a little because this hasn't been picked up by anybody in the states, if seven seas or even VIZ picked up this manga, that would be great, but for now, i cn only blame shueisha.

If seven seas picked it up, I'm not sure they could sell in the states. if they did, they'd have to sanitize the shit out of it to get it past many censors or paste a big fat 'ole NC17/17+ label on the cover. for example, Barnes and Noble "might" sell it, but like the last time I saw a series that was 17+ offered by B&N, it was promptly removed (damn, I cannot remember the title). Also, if 7seas had to tone down Virgin's Empire so it could sell in the states, I think all of VE's charm (due to the ecchi-ness) would be lost.

Wasn't Maka Maka sold in the states? I don't think this would be much of a problem. Besides, the possible low sales anyway...

Wow, talk about cliche. The author has written one of the most overused "drama" scenarios of ecchi manga ever. Blackmailing the girl in the main pairing into sleeping with some pervert using a piece of leverage that can be easily refuted by sitting down and explaining it or reporting it to an adult/police officer. And of course, the girl always chooses to go through with it. It's not intense, interesting and it's not suspenseful. It's plain STUPID and makes the characters out to be complete morons. It's next to the other stupid trope of having the main girl of an romantic ecchi manga raped by an asshole whose name and face she knows. What idiot would rape someone that knows their face and name? Well I guess it works out since that rape victim never reports it either. Stupid, stupid, stupid.

Too much Nonon x Satsuki. Would have been fine if it were only a couple pages but it took up too much Ryuuko x Satuski pages. Gets my fave nonetheless. Can't resist Ryuuko's "neesan" and siscon Satsuki.

Ever read a manga and not all the chapters were scanlated so you subscribe to be notified when a new chapter is released but that chapter doesn't come for months and you forget the entire plot and the fact that you even subscribed to the manga in the first place and had to reread from start? sigh

Not a big fan of YuiAzu tbh. Every other pairing with Yui makes her seem more feminine. When she's with Azusa she's almost always just an airhead.
