Not really. Cute girl series tend to star one of two related archetypes: The energetic, talented, and kinda dumb redhead, or a pink-haired girl who's like that but with more self-doubt

The aloof girl with long dark hair is older, more widespread archetype, but has become common for love interests in these kind of series even since people noticed that MadoHomu was popular

While I was expecting more Love Live, I wasn't actually expecting them to use PDP. This is a much larger gap between introduction and anime that with the other groups

Azur lane 11 and 12 delayed and there's not much they can cram in there tbh. Feels like the anime was more of an ad for the game than a retelling/original story.

Eh? I've honestly been finding it one of the more consistently enjoyable anime of the season. I mean, yeah, the writing is weak (though I like how weird the plot's been), but the music's good, the set design is great, animation is there when it counts. Just high-tier spectacle

For what i'm gather, it's seem your typical 3 girls group anime like we had with Joshikousei no Mudazukai not so long ago or with Yuyushiki.

I've actually read some of it, and it's pretty different from the typical CGDCT fare. There's no moe to speak of, and the sense of humour is more sitcom-ish

We do have some series with yuri potential coming up in January, though:

22/7 has always been kinda yuri on the animated side of things, and the visual a couple posts up makes it look like the full series will continue that. It also looks like it'll be decently animated and a legit drama, unlike a lot of idol anime

Railgun is introducing a character popular with yuri shippers. I'm kinda interested in the response to this, since the series is a relic from an earlier age, where yuri was rare and mostly a joke. Also this arc falls apart at the end

There's that LN adaptation with a long name (shortened to Bofuri) about a couple of girls in a VRMMO. Didn't notice much romantic in what I read of it, but it should at least be shippable

Koisuru Asteroid is readable on this very site. It starts with heavy subtext and I wouldn't be surprised if it goes full yuri eventually

Magia Record is probably not including the canon lesbian from the game, but I hear there's some pretty heavy subtext with the main characters anyway. I would note that it looks like it's not going to be a very close adaptation, but it also looks like they'll be emphasizing Iroha and Yachiyo's relationship more. Though honestly I'm just super ready for this in general

Show by Rock is back with a new main cast (and staff) and the PV makes it look like there'll be some subtext there

There was only one line that was changed between the male and female protagonists with Lillie in Sun and Moon, which was the Exeggutor Island rain cutscene. If the protagonist is male, she say that when she becomes a trainer, she'd like to travel together with them. While if the protagonist is female, she simply says that she wants to learn all of the things they know.

I think that was just relationship values. I played as a girl and remember getting the more intimate version of that scene

Since there’s not even a hint at an official couple yet, my guess is that it’s either the second option (boo, hiss) or the author actually hasn’t decided yet and Anna will end up with whoever comes up at the top of the character popularity polls after all the other characters had their chances to make their moves on her.

This is the sort of series that tends to leave everything open, but I do have to note that Anna is being pretty consistently paired up with Mei so far. Pretty much all of the incidental conversations are between the two of them, and we're getting semi-frequent reminders that they're attracted to each other

...You're definitely quoting people talking about Maidragon, but it's general not considered sexist and has no character named Shima, so I assume you're complaining about something else?

Maidragon came out in early 2017, and we have people here talking about it being announced, which would put this conversation somewhere in 2016. ...How did you even find it? Anyway, without any context we can't tell what you mean, so your complaint here is essentially meaningless

At least Chika and Mikan seem to have a healthy relationship? Neon and Nono seem to have ended up together mainly because Neon has issues she needs to work out (though said issues weren't really noticeable previously?). That said, I did enjoy the twins' screwed up relationship, but at least it the series wasn't pretending it wasn't screwed up

Hirose Madoka sure likes starting off with attempted kemonomimi yuri rape. Seems okay, though

Taru's a surprisingly fun, likable character for a love rival. On the other hand, I'm becoming increasingly unclear on what anyone sees in Shima

Sorta happy but also kinda dark? Which is pretty much what I wanted from a series where everyone is awful. The strangest part was how much of the ending is vague and open to interpretation

I think the intent is that Shio's achieved self-actualization from this and is now able to avoid the toxic relationships that defined basically the entire rest of the cast. But my preferred reading is that Shio is now looking for another Sato and is just going to restart everything
