Dubstep... yeah... but it wasn't really pioneering. It wasn't all new. It was more of a mixture of things that already existed. So not really groundbreaking.

Really nice to „hear“ the 80s from an American point of view. Always only had the European perspecctive when talking to others about it. There were even a few new songs – at least some I didn't really remember - so thank you! - like Gowan or Rush with „Subdivisons“ as well + Jon Anderson and Vangelis.

As far as Men Without Hats goes I always liked „The Great Ones Remember“ better (and the Safety Dance of course). Pop goes the World never really clicked with me.

Yeah, that feeling of something really being new and never heard of before... we don't really have that anymore. A little while back I watched a lot of old talk shows and documentaries of and about the 50s and 60s. That revolutionary feel... I didn't like Maria-sama ga Miteru much either. However, the omake was really fun because the producers proved their sense of humor with that. Showed that they didn't take the show as serious as it sometimes felt to me. So they basically knew that it was just silly sometimes... ;)

Gotta admit, I didn't watch Game of Thrones at first.
Just recently started and I was in the middle of the third season when my computer crashed...
So I had to take a little break... involuntarily...

I know the whole concept of zombies is kinda stupid. There's just no logic behind it. But if you can manage to get past that it is pretty fun. Always liked horror shows. I grew up with the Resident Evil games - played them waaaay before I was even allowed to do so ^^ And as a kid I watched every horror movie I could get a hold of. (^_^)b I was a weird kid...

Of course he’s in there! That’s the sole reason I mentioned that show to begin with! ^^ Accelerator, I mean. The rest of the show is really not my cup of tea... really boring if you ask me. But Accelerator only ever really shows up on Index so...
Here are the relevant episodes:
Season 1 episode 10 – 14.
He won’t really show up before episode 13 but the story starts with episode 10.
Episodes 19 and 20
Season 2 episode 6 + 7 (the story focuses more on Misaka and Kuroko but he’ll show up eventually).
Episode 17 – 24.
The reason I like Accelerator best is also because he’s the only one who gets some character development. All of the other characters seem to be immune to that somehow ^^

I love everything about Kill la Kill – that show was just awesome! Also loved Guts – just for being there ^^

It’s much better than the anime. And the story is completed as well.

Gosh... Sword Art Online... I forced myself to watch the first season. The one good thing I can say about it is that it was a “fast watch” as I like to call it. So it doesn’t feel like an eternity to make it through... But apart from that... there was nothing good about it. I can see why a lot of boys would like it. Too much silly fanservice for my liking...
I really don’t understand where the hype came from – but I gave it a try at least.
Talking about Berserk: the ending of the original tv series (1997 - 1998) left me feeling so uneasy... That whole Griffith thing… cruelest stuff I ever saw in anime…
Oh and talking about nostalgia: I’m still a One Piece fan when it comes to that ^^b

Well… I’m not so fond of Germany either. But I can’t really complain since we’re doing pretty good so far.

Yeah, give it a shot! It’s only 12 episodes so you won’t be wasting too much time either ;)
I also like the old GitS stuff better, both movies (1995 + 2004) and both seasons of the Stand Alone Complex tv series. I’ve only watched a few episodes of Arise.
Texhnolyze is cyberpunk, so maybe you should give that one a try sometime or another...
I always liked the twisted atmosphere it has. (I’m a real sucker for good atmosphere, I know...) And I loved the whole idea behind Psycho Pass. It’s just such a complex and mindblowing concept. The show probably could have been a bit better but it’s still a little masterpiece in my opinion. Most innovative story concept in recent movie and tv history.

Serial Experiments Lain is perfect when you wanna dive into another world for a while. Works best if you don’t leave the house for a few days. That’s what I did last time I watched it. I even kept the curtains closed and talked to no one. Only listening to techno music and in the middle of the night I watched this show. It’s better than drugs ^^

It doesn’t help much, when the people teaching a language are not native speakers themselves... I used to have the same problem with my English teachers, so I know exactly what you’re talking about. Some were even worse than the students when it came to pronunciation...
Video games helped me learn how to speak properly ^^b
And German is a language with a lot of edges, kinda. Not the kind of language that just rolls off your tongue. That doesn't help at all, I guess.

Ghost in the Shell and Cowboy Bebop are two of my all time favorites. So are Serial Experiments Lain, Monster and Texhnolyze. Oh and NGE of course. And Devil Lady... I always had a week spot for that one... Garden of Sinners, Blood – the last Vampire, Perfect Blue and Paranoia Agent. Witch Hunter Robin. Berserk maybe and Bubblegum Crisis.
One of the movies no one seems to know: Tekkon Kinkreet – it’s sooo good!
In recent years it’s Attack on Titan and Psycho Pass. Oh, Fate/Zero too.
If you wanna laugh it’s Arakawa under the Bridge (I laughed so hard the first time I watched this one that I woke my neighbours in the middle of the night ^^) and Level E, oh and To Aru Kagaku no Railgun ^^b
For the romantics: 5 Centimeters per Second (a masterpiece), Nana, Paradise Kiss and Honey and Clover.
If you wanna sob like a baby: Wolf’s Rain (I named my dog after the flower maiden ^^) and Tokyo Magnitute. (I cried way too much – the next day people asked me why my eyes are swollen... (^_^”) Just said I didn’t sleep so well...) ;)
If you’d like to go for a road trip: Michiko to Hatchin! ^^
For everyone who likes crazy: FLCL and Kill la Kill

And as for video games...
I’m more of a console gamer never played any computer games. And I’m more of a retro gamer as well... don’t play that much anymore unfortunately... can’t find the time...

For me, one of the greatest games ever made definitely is Silent Hill 2.
Awesome story, outstanding atmosphere and great music.
Metal Gear Solid, GTA Vice City (I loved the 8os theme!!!), Final Fantasy VII – X, the first Resident Evil games, Vagrant Story, Galerians, ICO...
I always had a thing for the Yakuza games as well... ^^
Heavy Rain left quite an impact too. Alice: Madness Returns.
Super Meat Boy, of course! (^_^)b
Every now and then I like to play a shooter like Far Cry or Black.
The Last of Us and the Walking Dead game are great as well. But I’ve never finished those two. Just played a little at a friends place. Gosh, I gotta play again!!!

Well... I think you can see by now that there is not ONE favorite but rather a few ^^b

Now that you mention it… it’s really called „die Kartoffel“ (potato - female pronoun) and “das Mädchen” (girl - neutral pronoun)...
Maybe that’s because they used to treat women more like an object than an actual person back in the day... Farmers must have had more affection for their potatoes... ^^

That happens to me all the time – mostly when I leave the house to walk the dog.
I peek outside the window and think “Still looks good, let’s go” and the moment I actually leave the house – it doesn’t look so good anymore all of a sudden! ^^
And it really makes me laugh when I come back home after a while and it suddenly stops again o_O
Sometimes I really think the gods like to make fun of me ;)

I’m just glad I never had to learn German later on. It’s much easier just growing up with it. I know how hard it is for foreigners to learn German. English is a little easier in that regard...

For everyone who doesn’t know him, Oliver Kalkofe makes fun of the stupidity on German TV. He takes a clip of a TV Show or a commercial and then pops into the picture, dressed up just like them and lets loose. Hilarious most of the time!

And yes, Oliver Welke and the Heute-Show is pretty good.
