Seriously, Japan's society sucks when it comes to this sort of stuff. Out of sight, out of mind, and if you dare beg for special treatment you get ostracized for your selfishness no matter what.

It's actually more complex than that. I read about Japanese welfare and it's actually very advanced and they try to make as many places as accessible as possible to disabled people. For example paths for blinds are very common there. But the disconnect is that, while laws are very generous to people with issues and government is trying its best to accommodate them, people's attitude towards people like that sucks in general.

You expect a serious and responsible romance in comedy manga about collage student lusting over preteen, where entire premise is based on the fact she's creepy af and preteen is grossed out by her behavior? I mean, in the very first few chapters Miyako buys Hana by offering her sweets, while manga acknowledges that's exactly the thing kids are supposed to avoid. If you still reading it after it with hopes for something wholesome, then I'd reconsider your approach to consuming media and what kind of expectations you have from it.

Also MagiReco is a spin off for MadoMagi and I'd argue 2 main leads resembling Homura and Madoka (in design and relationship) is more than intentional. Also MadoMagi was already blatant text and MagiReco has canon lesbian character and made story even gayer in general, so I can't really see it as subtext either.

Not disagreeing with what you wrote, but I think it applies to any conversation. It's so easy to misunderstand and misinterpret other person, especially when your expectations and norms are different or you don't know them that well.

It's irrelevant? I'd understand if you assumed that she left him for no reason and there's chance she might repeat it with Nagi. But we're clearly shown that she had good reasons to cut all contact with him, so I don't think there's any fear of her doing the same thing to Nagi.

The dude mistakes Chihiro for a boy, and when she corrects him, he determines that she must be a man who is in the process of transitioning simply because he can’t see her boobs, which means she couldn’t simply be a woman. That's exactly how I understood that too. There's no way she can be a woman looking like that. The only explanation is, it's a man who wants to be a woman, so he's pre-op (no boobs) transsexual. He still see her as a man, not a woman and tries to rationale why man would call himself a woman. The insult is that he can't see Chihiro, a biological woman, as nothing other than a man.
