hlama, you are forgetting Seju's step mother, ch19. And none of us knows what's in the father's will to make him make a plan and hope for it to workout, so he could face Ahn Chahee after death. In fact, we don't know why her brothers sent the assassin.. and it's not what she said in ch71 (the assassin followed Seju from ch66)

Sungji's big role is yet to come

if you think about WDTFS as a simple love triangle then that's a very simplistic way to look at it.. let's see why:

1. Seju & Sumin: take Sungji out of the "triangle", would they work out as a couple ?
2. Sungji & Sumin: take Seju out of the "triangle", would they succeed ?

Till now the story proved itself to not revolve around Sumin's choice of which girl she loves the most. Whomever Sumin chooses to be with, both relationships are doomed to fail.. the problems are from within each couple and not simply because of the third party's presence in the story. What we are looking at, is a healing process not a love triangle. Please, keep this in mind.
Sungji's role is not to be a mere girl that Sumin dates to forget her past by Sungji's kindness and love.. but Sungji's real role is to connect, heal and mend the two. Things will not end the way Seju wanted it to.. now it's different.

"family": once chairman dies and the fortune is distributed, there will not be any incentive in harassing Seju; hurting her may backfire. Likewise, Seju can cut all ties with them.

once the chairman dies, there is no one to protect Sumin or Seju. The chairman himself mentioned how he looked out for Sumin in ch58. No one can endanger their lives as long as he is alive. Whether Sumin dates Seju or not, this is irrelevant to the Baeks now.. remember, Sumin inherited a big chunk as well. If the chairman dies, both have to leave.

Food for thoughts:

• Even though Sumin initially declined in ch58, you see her almost discussing this topic with Seju in ch62. (she accepted but held it off? why?)
• why isn't Sumin motivated to find another job up till now?

indeed wanted to create a perfect girl image for Seju, someone has it all, beauty, money, smart brain. She even has a model figure, the tallest among the three(1m72), basically a super perfect girl.

Seju's perfection is very intentional to signify two important things:

1. To give you strong reasoning to why Sumin felt inadequate.. why she had the inferiority complex in the first place which participated their break up.
2. Seju's inability to move on is not because she can't find someone who loves her. But because she want and needs Sumin's love only.

Nora, leaving the ring to Seju is the safest place to leave it. To someone who takes care of Sumin(chap1) and passed on the responsibility to Sungji(chap.14). Did Team Gaji showed that Seju has no intention of returning the ring? Contrary, she showed the earnest to return it.(chap 54,55)

I read it maybe 14 times just today.. or yesterday.

Sungji: it's not that I lost it, I left it somewhere by mistake. I'm sorry, I will definitely go get it.

(she wanted to go get it back.. why leave it on purpose "regardless if she trusts Seju to give it back")

Also, if Sungji left it intentionally, how could that mean "leave Ms. Seong, CEO-Nim" when in fact it signifies abandoning promises she made with Sumin!

I commented on mpgpeg in page 363 and mentioned this fact about Sumin immediately taking the ring off. This area is open for interpretation.. there is no panel to prove whatever I think about it. If you wanna read a pure subjective opinion.. I could do that too. However, I would like to do a backward induction kinda of way to look at it, so instead of how Sumin took her rings off, we look on how she put them on in the first place. ch52, the rain scene.. when Sumin was drying Sungji's hair.. the periodic gap is a memory that Sumin had.. it's ch2, it's Seju's wet hair.

In ch50,
Sumin admitted to herself.. Sungji is too good for her.. the one who will be be there to hold her is Seju, the one she is in love with is Seju.
ch 51:
Sungji: "you gave me your heart"
Sumin: "did I really ?" in a bubble
Sumin: "will I be able to let you go" in a bubble.

with all the above ideas, she put the ring on Sungji's finger the very next day.
The ring symbolises promises & trust.. why was it so hard for Sumin to keep it on.. did she really mean these promises no matter how much she tried.. is she able to fulfil them?

btw, the ring is given normally on the 100th day of dating between a couple.. it was a very effective tool in calculating the timeline in which helped me earlier to spot when Seju's birthday was exactly back in ch78 XD. Not only that, but also the actual period during which Sumin and Sungji dated.. 4 months and a half now. This by itself ,along side what happens during this period, is a justification to whatever mpgpeg thinks of the ending.

Foxy lady, mmhm.. when I think about it from where you are looking at it, it makes sense. However, Leaving the ring intentionally signifies abandoning the promises she has with Sumin.. regardless of what those promises mean to Sumin. Your point has so much reasonable sense to it.. but would still contradict with other sensible points from where I currently stand.. I am trying to find a middle ground between these two meaningful views.. but lately, I've been failing at that XD.

Sumin and Seju used to sleep together at Seju's house 10 years ago.. in fact, their first time was at Seju's. ch8, ch72. The choice of the house to be near "Seju" is not the only matter in here.. Sumin's arrangement of her bed.. the view she looks at every night reminds her of Seju's house 10 years ago and the feelings associated to it. She can't let go these memories and feelings.

In chap. 53, Sungji used the ring and left it (she did not forget it)to signify that "Leave Team Leader, bad CEO-nim", so why not used this to open up the third season with Seju's involvement? It is more fun this way, right?

I think she did forget the ring and was very upset about this fact.. and hence, she came immediately to pick it up as Seju sent her a message.. if she meant to leave it, she could've sent an SMS saying: "oh.. you take it!"

I don't know if you missed previous posts we discussed ch54 and why did Seju ask for sex. In my believe, Seju didn't originally plan to make Sungji witness that from the beginning.. nor could she expect how the conversation between her and Sumin will turn to be. I also believe that Seju sent the message to Sungji even before Sumin arrive to her office.. and upon Sumin's confession, everything changed. Sex at that moment didn't come to make Sungji witness it, but also to prove something to all the three. you may find this post meaningful

I will list those two facts, because why not:

1. ch25, Sungji was so shocked of Sumin's lusty touch till Seju provoked her.. Seju's provocation was the turning point in which Sungji became so eager to have sex. starting from ch29. (why not 26,27,28 though :D )
2. was there any truth in Seju's reasoning to why she told Sungji what she told her in ch55 flashback of ch27 "because I pity you" ?.. well, YES. read ch27: "she is drained from love that she can't give or receive" ch45:" Sumin was always in a relationship with no future.. she will always comeback"

Seju knew Sumin for at least 17 years.. and witnessed 31 breakups.. a number that Sumin can't even remember.. so yes! She pities Sungji.. and there is a truth in her perception. And after 31 breakups, Seju isn't an idiot to imagine that Sumin would marry her if Sungji would just walk away in ch27. So why pity Sungji and warn her? mmhm.. depends on how you look at it.

Neither Seju nor Sumin will bring it up. Sungi may bring it up, but it will not happen in the present of Seju, so the perspective will still be one sided. In the end, I don't think the incident will resurface.

oh, let me throw this delusion as well: delusion#1, ch17.. when Sumin was with the redhead.. yes, the strap on scene.. she wasn't only imagining Seju, but she has a mental image of Seju & the bartender in that position.. and that Seju liked it.. "it's in her imagination" and thus she barfed and was traumatised. I wanna say that: ch17, ch49 brought the incident one way or another. ch72, Flashback, first panel.. Look at the view, the bed positioning even the table side.
now take a look at ch51, 5th panel, Look at the view, bed position even the table side.
The is the answer of Sungji's question in ch12 on why Sumin choses to sleep in living room when she has a bedroom upstairs. Compare both panels and you will understand why Sumin's likes it this way!
again, I give credit to Foxy lady for pointing this out to me.

And yes, I do not see how anyone could argue against their connection at this point.
