I've heard of cases like that and sadly they definitely do happen. I was simply a little surprised by the assertiveness of some of the students in this story.

And Nanoha is Japanese, so might have picked up some PDA conservatism (Japan is way less touchy in public), though OTOH her own family is pretty lovey-dovey.

I just re-read this. Still fun! If a frustrating ending... kind of want to see Mitsuki become Ayaka's rich (well, secure) lover, but it's left to our imagination.

Probably the biggest tragic element is that if Mitsuki had been honest during the sleepover, things might have taken a rather different tack. Ayaka was being pretty physically pushy there, and yeah highlighting "you're rich! (or rich enough)"

Based on https://dynasty-scans.com/chapters/pretender#38 and not having "decent parents" I don't think Ayaka meant to call her father. But based on https://dynasty-scans.com/chapters/pretender#33 I think she wanted to sound like she was calling her father, to drive off a pushy guy.

As for not walking properly, sometimes people fake that. In college, I had a good friend, whom I'd see at big parties almost falling-down drunk, draped on/clinging to her boy. I was very worried for her, mostly for simply being that drunk. Except, one time, I saw her detach from the boy, and walk in a straight line across the courtyard. So apparently not so drunk after all. And my friend was not a full-time manipulator like Ayaka.

In short, you can't always tell. Though the fact that Ayaka didn't notice Mitsuki rifling her purse does suggest being fairly out of it.

Sadly, most of them felt too mean or too silly for me. The first one (Rein's boobs) actually felt the most natural, surprisingly, then Vita/tsun/Nanoha. Others had nice touches, like Signum in the bath, or Fate's seaweed/mom reactions, but didn't land well as whole chapters.

I'll keep reading to see where it's going, but my expectations have been set low. Is she supposed to live on snacks all school year? And keep scurrying around to eat them? It's like Yukiko put in just enough effort to draw attention to how little effort she put in making this make sense.

And ngl, it's kinda funny that yuri fans were the ones who saved this series from cancellation… only to get “rewarded” with the spotlight shifting to a het romance lol. But hey, each to their own I guess. I just don’t get why some people can’t understand that some yuri fans only want (and only care about ) yuri romances in a... yuri story.

I dunno, almost every incest story either a) magically works out, or b) ends in tragedy, it'd be kind of nice to see "person struggles with difficult feelings and finds a way to move on" for once.

My Unrequited Love was mostly struggle, with a magic work-out at the very very end, IIRC. Though, oh right, that wasn't actually incest, just age gap and incest-adjacent (falling for her sister-in-law.)

Anyway, good point. Even if Miki being that into Aki isn't particularly likely... given the earlier "feelings, what are they" themes of Whispering, I was expecting something like "Miki didn't actually know what romantic feelings felt like, and thought her attachment to her sister was romantic".
