We are all already jumping to conclusions here as it is. It's just statistically more likely that he is just gay than being a trans person. And tomboys are a rather common trope in yuri too. So maybe don't act like not jumping even further away with predictions was a problem? The main reason people voiced these predictions is because that's just more likely and they didn't think of an even odder twist with so little to go on.

If this doesn't turn out to be a trans man or woman now, then you'd kinda look really silly for acting disappointed in people's normal predictions like this, just sayin'. Wishful thinking is fine, but I'm not really happy with these kinds of backhanded remarks.

I feel like I've been a little misunderstood here. Again, I'm only a little disappointed. I know this is all speculation, and honestly? I'm only disappointed because I've had some pretty good experiences when it comes to transgender issues on Dynasty. If this were some other manga site, I wouldn't be at all surprised. Hell, on some sites, I'd honestly expect far worse.

And also, yeah, that's statistically more likely... but it'd also totally ruin it for me even worse than when I just thought it was kinda boring. I won't get into the actually transphobic implications of the trope because I'm not nearly good enough at explaining things like that, but needless to say, I'd be hurt if it did go down that road. Not hurt enough that I'd call the author a bad person or anything, but hurt enough to be like, "Oh, come on, seriously?".

In retrospect, I was probably more concerned about that possibility than about people speculating about the possibility and took it out on the wrong target, and for THAT, I apologize. Although, I will say that the "backhanded-ness" was completely unintentional- what I was TRYING to do was voice that I was discontent, but not SUPER discontent. And honestly, one of the only reasons I even DID post it is because I've had no spine for most of my life and I'm trying to force myself to just be a LITTLE bit more reckless. The consequence of that is sometimes making myself look silly, but I've decided I'm willing to live with that if it means not taking five days to decide to do literally everything in life.

(PS: Assuming you ARE the BugDevil I'm thinking of (I mean, same username, an interest in yuri, and a Neptunia icon definitely indicate that), I like your NepNowa fics. You're, like, one of the six people I follow on FFN.)

Okay, 1: That cliffhanger completely boosted my feelings on this series. Before, I was just reading it because, "Eh, it's yuri, might as well read it", and some of the earlier chapters were actually an absolute slog to get through, but now I'm actually interested.
2: I'm kinda disappointed at how everyone's going "Is he really a girl?!" instead of "Is he trans?!" because. Like. He's pretty clearly at least PRESENTING as male. And the idea that trans themes might come up is a big part of why my interest has been so heavily boosted. I'm not SUPER disappointed or anything, it's not like this is outright transphobia, it's just a little annoying as a trans person to see people talking about boys "secretly being girls" in reference to the idea that someone who presents as male might actually have a vagina.
3: BUT, a way to make him "secretly a girl" that I actually WOULD be totally into would be if he's actually a transWOMAN who still hasn't come out of the closet to anyone including her family and friends and thus is still presenting as male for now. It'd make the whole "watashi" thing a bit more appropriate, too (since, if he IS a transman or just gay, I'd interpret the "watashi" thing as a well-meaning but flawed attempt at hinting at that). And hey, maybe some of you actually meant this when you talked about him "secretly being a girl," in which case you're cool.
4: On the topic of "guys using watashi," I've seen plenty of male businessmen and politicians use it. After all, it's typically the most "formal" one. When I was learning Japanese in high school, our teacher generally encouraged us to consider "watashi" the default, and also discouraged using "ore" at all; in both cases, it was because she didn't want any of us to make any accidental faux pas by accidentally using a pronoun that wasn't formal enough for the situation.

I don't even feel like reading anybody else's feelings on this, I'm just gonna say my piece and MAYBE check to see if anyone's responded to me.
This looks like a dumb harem series. A really, REALLY dumb harem series- I mean, Kano falls for her just for buying her a strawberry milk? That's idiotic even for a dumb harem series.
But, I don't mean this as an insult. This is EXACTLY the kind of thing that my brain wants when it gets a craving for a dumb harem series. It's pure, brainless fun.

The transgender canon still works beautifully with this~ Author could go into what impressions made them think the other were male in the past (beside looks) giving it a sort of futari monologue spin, but I feel like that would threaten to break my transgender canon.

Oh MAN I can't believe I didn't even THINK of it being transgender until I read this comment. I feel like a failure as a transwoman. Yeah, that'd ruin the whole "taking the tired trope to its logical conclusion" thing that I already love this manga for, but I wouldn't even mind because MORE TRANS YURI YAY.

The first panel of page 21 implies that Nekozaki is actually at least somewhat popular.
Which is good. I really like "popular person x unpopular person" romances, at least as long as the popular person actually has a personality and isn't just some bland trophy for the unpopular protagonist (hell, I actually prefer it when the popular one is the protagonist).

Nintendo does let you be gay in Fates... as long as you're happy with the THREE specific gay options (and TWO of those three are version-specific). But, at least the main lesbian option is basically Tharja 2.0, so there's that.

I know it'd be extremely out of character for Kaede, but whenever there's a scene in a yuri manga where some straight girl is trying to accuse one of the protagonists of trying to "steal her man" or whatever, I always fantasize about said protagonist getting frustrated and shouting, "I'm GAY, dammit!"

Oh, hey, I actually follow the Anti-Bully Ranger on Twitter! It's kinda nifty seeing it on the credits page like that.
And yes, the Anti-Bully Ranger exists just to post "don't bully!" once a day.

^I'm pretty sure it's supposed to be "baked for me." IIRC, Ticcy's first language is Italian, so the occasional spelling error is understandable.

It's not really that surprising that Minakata Sunao's done Yagakimi fanart. Nakatani Nio's done plenty of work for the "Small Riddle of Evil" series.

I love all the little things the fish have to say. In this chapter in particular, I really liked the "Hey, newbie!" "Se-senpai!" exchange.

This wasn't as fun as the first one (the first one was great because it took the 'My childhood friend was a girl the whole time!?" trope to its logical conclusion, and because it totally skips any drama that its premise would suggest (and, like, I like drama, but it's also neat when a story just decides, "Fuck drama, I'm just gonna do it!")), but it's still cute and hey, it's only four pages, so cute's all it needs to be. I honestly wasn't expecting anything more than what I got- I mean, maybe more polished art, but I didn't even notice the dip in art quality until I read the discussion- and this was something that there'll never be enough of, anyways (that is to say, girls defending their girlfriends from creeps).

This is a great example of how I prefer men to be used in yuri stories.
In fact, I honestly want to see more of this- not just for the YuriMoko, but for a guy having to deal with his freeloading older sister and her girlfriend. Or, really, any story involving a girl getting close to her girlfriend's family.

I actually went and read it through after realizing the twist, and noticed that there are a whole bunch of times where it SEEMS like she's participating in the conversation, but she really isn't, like:
Chihiro's Mom(?): Hey, the bath is ready!
Natsu: I'll wait in your room!
Chihiro: Okay!
Like, Chihiro SEEMS to be reacting to "I'll wait in your room," but was actually responding to "The bath is ready.".
Clever.

Okay, this is the second time today I've read a yuri manga where someone went, "Why do I like her? Well, she's kind... and helpful... and always knows how to make me smile... oh, and she's got really sexy legs!".
This can't be a coincidence.

Showing a guy ripping his pants off at the end of a yuri manga whilst a female character from said yuri manga is blushing over him taking his pants off... kinda ticks me off.

Kinda agree - but only because I don't get what it is referencing or what meme it is etc so its just some meaningless stripping guy in a yuri manga lol. But since some people think its amazing it must mean something lol.

It's a popular reaction image, usually used to show that you're aroused (or otherwise enthusiastic). It's kinda like that "My body is ready" thing.
So, that's why it's great. She's not blushing over the guy, the guy is being used to represent her own emotions. That's why he's in her dialogue bubble.

I like this.
Like, there's the problems with bully/victim ships, yeah, and there's the "Hollywood Homely" trope in play, and the popular girl is a little too bitchy to forgive... but, three things make me really like this:
1: I just really like the whole "the school's alpha bitch learns to be a decent human being" trope. I watched a lot of the early seasons of Buffy the Vampire Slayer as a kid, and Cordelia Chase's character arc was always my favorite. She's, like, the bully alpha bitch (a trope that I was familiar with even then because it's so ubiquitous in media about highschool, especially in America) when she's first introduced, but she keeps learning things that make her act a little less awful, and by the time Angel starts, she's become this fairly down-to-earth girl who makes Star Wars puns about her ghost roommate.
2: I really like Gyarus, but pretty much all content about gyarus is either mocking, het, or Galko (and Galko is great, without a doubt, but it's kinda doing its own thing without pandering to my desires). So, there's not nearly enough Gyaru yuri in the world. And what little gyaru yuri there is is mostly Citrus, which doesn't count to me because A) she's just a poser, and B) I don't even like Citrus anyway.
3: And finally, the first chapter- the one that's actually from her point of view- kinda comes off to me as pitiful rather than hateful? Like, I don't read that and go, "Christ, what a bitch", I read it and go, "Christ, she's got a really fucked-up view of the world, and I feel sorry for her- she's clearly been brainwashed by certain aspects of society. If only someone would open her eyes, she'd be nicer AND happier.".
Though, uh. Eight pages of discussion already. Man, people certainly have opinions about this series.

Okay, this... made me feel things. Not just the fluffiness that good yuri always makes me feel- in fact, it was a bit weak on that front- but rather, how much I related to Moritani (Moriya?).
Like, I first discovered this series in 2014, but it wasn't done yet and I lost track of it pretty quickly. I think I rediscovered it again at some point, but once again completely forgot about it.
But then, I found it now, and it suddenly means a whole lot more to me than it did the first two times.
Mainly because of the scenes where Moritani gathers up all of her courage and determination and just DOES something that she's scared of doing. It reminds me a LOT of how I've been trying to deal with my own mental health lately. Like, she often scolds herself for coming up with excuses not to do things that she really wants to do because she's scared, and... I know that feeling. And I know how liberating it feels to finally throw the consequences to the wind and just DO IT. How it makes you feel less helpless and more like you really can live a normal life despite your poor mental health. It's hard, it's insanely hard, but so worth it. It makes me feel alive in ways that I haven't really felt since elementary school.
ALSO: Moritani can stop time for a whole three minutes. This means that she could TOTALLY kick Dio Brando's vampire ass. That makes this feel even more empowering.
BUT: I will admit, I kind of went, "Oh, come on," when she started losing her power. Because, like, they framed it as a scary thing that the audience should be worried about... but, like, it's super obvious that the reason she's losing it is because she's growing out of it. I like that she did grow out of it, but I don't like the way they tried to frame it as a scary thing even though the plot twist that it was actually a good thing was super predictable.

Glad to see some RWBY doujins, even though I have given up on the series completely now. It's going down hill after Monty left. Volume 3 may seem fine, but it really is just a poor attempt to grab the fan's attention and it is also full of plot holes enough to cover the universe. On the other hand (the yuri one), I don't think we will get any lesbianism out of this series since they have male interests for Blake and Weiss (the girls seem to like them, too) and Ruby is a chaste hero.

Well, I know it's bad to ruin the fun but I have to get it off my chest, and I really don't want anyone to start hoping for the yuri that most likely won't be there. Whether to watch the show or not is up to you (it's good until vol.3), but I really don't recommend it. We can enjoy doujins without watching it anyway.

I can't help but feel uncomfortable with your insistence on referring to Monty's absence as him "leaving" when the actual reason he's gone is that he died. Like... that's a pretty important detail. Saying that he "left" kinda implies that he was fed up with it and left to go work on another project or something, which would support your criticism of RWBY, but it's... not true. He's not there anymore because he very suddenly died with only about a week's warning.
(I personally don't have any feelings on your opinion of RWBY- the last episode I saw was the Volume II premiere (I didn't make a conscious decision to stop watching or anything, I just kinda fell out of the habit of keeping up with it)- I just, y'know, feel uncomfortable with the untrue ideas that the word "left" implies, intentional or not)
