^As far as my memory serves that sounds about right. I think it's the idea of the skin being "permanently marked", that makes it supposedly tainted according to beauty standards in many countries. Though I'm not sure if missing limbs/eyes markets that well with a general audience either.

Also I mean when it comes to Scars, I'll always stand by that Balalaika in Black Lagoon is hot as hell.

I don't think it's "because Anime logic", it's more that no scars likely markets better with a wider general audience, and takes less work. Personally? I love scars and definitely want more.

@Avempestad2: I mean everything must come to an end, I think it's nice when ended series still get fanart. It reminds me of the good times I enjoyed, plus it keeps the series alive through the fans and it also introduces new people to the series.

Hmm
Question:
Will this be vore?

Cause I don't do vore

Maybe it'll just be eating out, in the traditional after midnight TV sense. Turns out the whole thing was a misunderstanding, entirely stemming from the mermaid being too embarrassed to say it.

Edit: I mean let's be honest here, isn't this a goose with a gold egg situation? If the mermaid kills her and completely devours her that's it, however if the mermaid keeps her alive there's numerous ways to "taste" her. It seems more practical to keep her alive for the long term.

Maybe I should drop this since there's cheating involve... And the mc doesnt look like she'll act better.

Well as the saying goes, "There is a point where we needed to stop, and we clearly passed it. But let's keep going and see what happens".

Okay, wait, are they seriously acting like her crippling character flaw here is how indecisive she's being, that she doesn't know whether she wants to choose her loving supportive girlfriend who she cheated on, or her long-reviled but sexy ex with whomst she cheated? Like, she's not being decisive enough, and that's why she's such a disappointment to everyone? Am I reading that right?

Yes, you are indeed reading that right. I even think we're supposed to be sympathetic to poor Liz because her romantic dilemma is interfering with her plan to save the world, or set the world free, or some such shit.

I don't think "readers hoping desperately for the (terminal) intervention of truck-kun" is exactly the level of "sympathy" they're aiming for here.

This whole thing is frustrating at best, and really feels like the author has no clue why Liz isn't sympathetic in the slightest.

I really hope this series has some twists and turns, with an ending that's not as straight forward as the starting presentation. At the moment having your series be, mermaid helps girl get over the trauma of her family's death, and then murders her afterwards, isn't exactly compelling for me at least. There's some interesting themes here, and nice art, so that's why I'm still reading and curious if the series will have some dramatic shifts.

Honestly reading this series feels like waking up in the middle of the night to pee, hurrying to the bathroom and ramming your toe into the corner of a table leg, only to stumble backwards and step on a bunch of legos, and at that point you just start peeing yourself. It just feels really bad.

This is a vivid and remarkably believable scenario...

I feel like Maki's just gonna show up later looking like a guy after her "Is it because I'm a 'girl', right?" line.

Haha, thanks.

~

Something that's also bugging me about this chapter, it sounds like SHE has to choose who to date/pursue. When at this point she'd be lucky if either women chose to be with her. I don't like the idea of, "oh whoops I cheated, let me just pick which person I want to be with". It feels like the world revolves around her in an unnatural and absurd way.

Man I really like Ataru, she's in love with Sakuma but doesn't want to ruin their friendship and start useless drama and likes seeing her being happy while she's with Wanko, and she isn't awkward or anything, she's still happy to be there and be their friend.

No I'm pretty sure she's kinda glum about the situation actually. But she's also enough of an adult to "grin and bear it" and try to put it aside.

She seems kind of "glum" in general, some people just come off as a bit glum without intending to.

~

Also as for the newest chapter, interesting to see the teacher rejection.

As people said, Ame and Gura have good chemistry as friends, and their collabs together are fun. So people draw ship art of them. Also to explain another popular Hololive ship though, Kiara and Cali. By Kiara's own decree "Takamori" is the official ship name and Twitter tag. Kiara actively and constantly flirts with Cali, plus Kiara requests ship fanart and follows some of the biggest artists of the ship. In my opinion one of the cutest interactions between them semi-recently was Kiara singing "I really like you" on a karaoke stream, and she dedicated it to Cali. Turns out Cali was watching and responded in chat, which lead to at least Kiara getting very embarrassed and flustered.

@wsedoiugly Oh? What reaction? I've heard for awhile that they're close friends IRL but that's as far as it would actually go.

Man, I'm never gonna get tired of how bad Dynasty users are at understanding basic human behaviour.

Not sure if I'm included in this, I mean I'm pretty awkward at times, but it's interesting how there's so many different perspectives about human behavior on here. There seems to be many different ideas on what's realistic behavior and what's unrealistic, often each has a perspective clash with how much they differ.

She could have also said something along the lines of "It's rude to treat homosexuality as a costume you can put on when convenient, since actual lesbians can't just turn it off and face actual persecution for it."

Because that would totally have been in character and all.

Especially addressed to someone she has (tenuous) hopes of getting in the sack.

Plus again she doesn't seem bothered by playing up their relationship to the public. She just wishes the relationship was actually real.

Edit: Also a lot of people in Entertainment industries play up relationships for the public, including hetero relationships and even just friendships. People love romance and gossip, people also love wholesome friendships. It's a good way to sell yourself and the person/people you're working with.

Oh so older sister is indeed gay, poor thing is being made to pretend to be gay with the actual person she likes.

https://dynasty-scans.com/chapters/the_two_of_them_are_pretty_much_like_this_ch36

Seems mutually agreed upon by the two of them, nothing made or forced.

Would appear the other voice actress is even aware of it as she mentions she won't let her have sex with her in this chapter.

I don't know... the impression I get is that the other voice actress thinks this one is still playing her role when she suggests they sleep together, and this one doesn't want to risk their current relationship by pushing too hard.

Of course, I could be wrong.

In other news, I've forgotten just about everyone here except Wanko and Sakuma. I need to reread.

I think it's as "Red K." said: "I don't dont know if I'm interpreting this the wrong way, but the vibe I got is that the light haired girl likes the black haired one (forgot their names) but the black haired one dosent know it, and strictly does it for business. Im thinking about like those two girls from Lily Marble, Hikari and Moe, if anyone has read that, where there playing a gay couple but one of them is actually in love.", hopefully I'm understanding their message correctly.

I keep getting the character names confused, but the both of them play up their relationship a bit to tease their fans. Short black hair doesn't realize her friend is ACTUALLY interested in her. I don't think either of them are being made or forced to do anything. It's something short black hair thinks is for fun, but doesn't realize that her friend actually wants to date and is hurting a bit from having to keep a certain distance.

If your wood floor is giving you splinters, I strongly encourage you to get your floor fixed/polished. That's not normal in the slightest. Also these two are constantly getting combat injuries, I doubt a little soreness/pain from floor sex would even phase them.

After all the Mochi Au Lait stories on this site, I'm more amazed that people on here are still freaking out over incest than I am about the mother approving.

Oh boy, this is gonna turn into a Itou Hachi comment section, isn't it?

It already has. With people claiming this is basically slavery, mentioning pedophilia, wish fulfilment, and so fourth. I'm sure we can go deeper with the Itou Hachi comment type sections, but yeah this entire series is going to be full of the usual comments.

The game never focuses on romance, and was never going to make any of the ships an actual thing regardless. Also yes a game designed around releasing new characters from the start, that's successful, will keep releasing new characters, that's not at all surprising. So to me it sounds like you set your self up for disappointment. The best thing about ships in games like it, in my opinion, is playing more of it to see more character interactions to fuel the ships, and appreciate the fanart more. Same thing goes for so many shows, books, and so fourth. Almost all media won't fulfill the average audience ship, especially same sex relationships. If I gave up entirely on media because my ships weren't fulfilled, I'd be consuming 1/100th of the entertainment that I do. As for the self-insert protag, there's also (again my opinion) a lot of fantastic same sex ships that revolve around both protags. So I can't and won't complain there.

I thought it was khara but it was the bird. Nooo I don’t want her to die

Ah I didn't realize it was the bird, I also really don't want her to die. I've been keeping a certain distance between me and this series since the start, since I know the author likes to get extremely dark in some of their works. Seeing a character about to be burned alive in this otherwise goofy series is...horrifying and honestly upsetting. I'm personally not a fan of the author going in this direction.

@Jayxnoir kindred spirits on the roof is by far the best imo- its expensive compared to regular vns- BUT thats because its not like 6hr long more like 35 and very well produced. It has multiple ongoing couples, and is voiced very well.

Be aware its more like a kinetic novel than a 'game'- very few choices, but its a great VN- assuming you are ok with schoolgirl yuri. It might be the only yuri game on steam with an 'overwhelmingly positive' review rating.

OshiRabu: Waifus Over Husbandos is very nice too imo.
Hmm, Lilycle Rainbow Stage!!!, the flowers series, Yumeutsutsu Re:Master.. I forget the names right now but Im sure theres other great ones.

Join the steam group Hella Yuri - its got about 30k members- it is just for finding and listing games with yuri.
Go to the curator tab then click view store tab. On the left you'll see the lists or different types of games and recommended games etc, and they will bring up the lists, with a line or 2 for each game.

P.s there are tons of other sorts of yuri games not to be ignored if you like those kinda games- like dating sims and rpgs.
Lots of good yuri in the rpg catagory!

Some rambling thoughts about Steam reviews. There are decent amount of Yuri games on steam that have 90-100% positive reviews but are listed as "Very Positive". For example "A Summer's End - Hong Kong 1986" is Very Positive at 383 reviews at 98%, recent reviews are Very Positive with 15 at 100%. I think it has to do with the quantity of reviews, but Steam's review system is weird honestly. Kindred Spirits has Overwhelmingly Positive with 702 reviews at 97%, no recent reviews listed. The first Flowers game is Overwhelmingly Positive with 880 reviews at 97%, however it's recent reviews are only Very Positive with 22 reviews at 100%. Waifus Over Husbandos is Very Positive with 2,791 reviews at 88%, recent is Very Positive with 17 reviews at 94%. Which makes me wonder with more reviews than Kindred and Flowers combined if Waifus would have an Overwhelmingly positive rating around 95%, if it had about 700-1000 (maybe up to 1500ish?) reviews like the other two games. I'm notably in the states, and unfortunately I don't know if these reviews and statistics are different for other countries.

Anyhow, sorry for the rambling. I personally find review information interesting, but I might be the only one that does. I think the TLDR version is that the review system on steam is wonky. Plus well the whole user review system is flooded with all types of reviews, for example there's helpful in-depth ones, meme ones, there are often many that are only 1-3 words of praise or hate. I'd say if you're uncertain about a game then waiting for a sale isn't a bad idea, but Steam also has a decent refund system (if you've played a game under 2 hours, and I might be wrong but I think within 2 weeks of purchase?). Also I'd definitely second the recommendation of the curator, "Hella Yuri", they have helpful information about a wide range of games.

In closing, getting back to the manga at hand. These two are so incredibly wholesome, and somehow they only get more wholesome as we progress. Thanks for all the hard work on this series!
