The Athenians (supported by their Eretrian and Plateian allies) won a surprising victory against the Persians at Marathon, which was 26 miles away from the city of Athens (albeit still within Athenian territory), and the messenger ran back to Athens, delivered news of the victory, and then dropped dead from exhaustion. As a great history enthusiast (maybe even the greatest on Dynasty), that's how I remember the events.

Yeah it all goes back to ancient Greece. After winning an important battle, the Greek general sent a runner 26 miles to Marathon to let them know they one. In the story the runner died after delivering the news. The two tenths of a mile was added later because the king of England didn't feel like walking to the finish line. This is the shit you learn when you have a hard core runner in the family.

It's a 5-8k run - so doable in under an hr for the 5k, maybe a little more than an hr for the 8k. I think the idea of going from only having PE class and being otherwise sedentary to running a full marathon (~42k) would be crazy and result in injuries or it would take literally all day.

It was the bit about the harmonic wave that got me. However I'm not sure the liquid shoshing in a bottle couts as a harmonic wave. If I remember right, it's when you add energy at just the right moment to build the wave bigger. So unless you're somehow shaking the bottle in time with the slosh, harmonics doesn't come into it.

I'm pretty sure harmonic waves include any situation where the restoring force is proportional to the displacement, while what you're describing would be a forced harmonic wave, or some kind of resonance situation. I might've used "harmonic" incorrectly. It's been a long time since I took physics in school. Maybe I just wanted to look smart on the internet.

Since you have to raise the bottle to drink, the liquid doesn't just immediately flatten out to be level. The movement causes it to slosh around for a while as a harmonic wave, with the surface tilting one way then the other, before flattening out. Try it and you'll see what I mean.

That stripping scene legit made me say, "um, what" out loud. What the fuck was that even. I guess the author wanted to portray some "deep" "emotional" moment between Haruki and Aya but it just comes across as stupid, pretentious and invasive to me. Haruki is so repulsive and creepy.

And Mochida. She was just an annoying teenager before, but she just crossed the line into unlikeable territory in this chapter. Seriously, these two should just fuck each other and calm their titties. And stop messing with the main characters.

That’s exactly how I felt about Haruki stripping. I felt uncomfortable because it was so random and Aya barely reacting and quickly agreeing to strip was absurd. We all agree that Aya is easy but she resisted Sei more, she pushed her away and resisted her affections. There was a build up for their feelings before getting nude and sleeping together. Here we have Haruki confessing AFTER getting nude. It’s awkward and doesn’t play well. It just doesn’t make sense that Aya agreed to just strip. Getting me a little angry of how this played out and I’m not looking forward to the future chapters as much anymore.

Honestly I'm somewhat grateful of the absurdity of that scene. It's like they are living in some kind of weird ultra sexualized alternate universe. It somehow makes me feel a little better about rooting for a romance between a sexual predator and her victim.

And I don't agree that Aya is easy. That is dangerously close to victim blaming.

I think that the "hypothetical gender switch" is often of limited utility when thinking through issues in yuri manga, because if the gender of one of the characters in a relationship gets changed, pretty much the whole ideological configuration of the imagined world would change along with it.

The probability of characters taking various actions changes, their attitudes toward those actions shift, and the social options available to the characters are transformed as well.

(Although with johnb, I suspect it's mostly a fundamental "yuri good, het bad" mindset at work.)

Why do I want Aya to end up with Sei. Sei is an teacher f#%king a highschool girl. Practicality raping Aya unitl she likes it. Not to mention taunting Aya's friend with those pictures. Sei is pretty much a hentai style villain. If Sei was a guy, I would want to beat her with a tireiron. But because Sei is a woman, I'm rooting for her.

No I don't think that's right. I would see a man doing these things to Aya as stealing her innocence, corrupting her. However, I just don't get that feeling when it's with a woman. It's like all of the things Aya has done with Sei doesn't count. To put it in manga gag terms Aya should have no issue with getting married.
