In any case, I have trouble believing that a judging panel would give an art award to Nikaidou if this sort of doodling is the best of her ability. And it took her an hour, too! I could have done better in ten minutes, and I totes suck at art. :-/

I'd say that her excitement over working with the artist she admires and loves so much is wrecking her skills somewhat fierce.

I think Asuka just for some reason really wants to be close to tomoko, but tomoko's idol complex towards her kind of puts a barrier between them. Asuka's trying to relate on her stuff, picking schools together, studying together, its not working. Asuka's logic seems to be: "oh, you did (lewd thing) with your 'real friends?' Well do it with me too so we can be friends." But she's coming on too strong, and it just pushes Tomoko back.

This is definitely the right read of their relationship but I think that romantic interest os the only possible explanation for Asuka's actions that isn't contrived to some degree.

I just realized that Tomoko is thinking of Asuka's melons in the sixth panel.

^^^^^ The comments on several manga sites reveal that a lot of people would rather have their brains blown out than admit that Asuka and Tomoko are in some kind of yuri dance together. What do they need? Does Tomoko have to wrestle Asuka onto the ground and go down on her?

Reminds me of the people that said that Valkyrie Drive wasn't a yuri show. Seemingly women sexually pleasuring other women was something straight girls did wherever those people came from.

Is kind of amazing how Asuka has gotten progressively gayer both in the manga proper and in fanart.
