I think it's mainly a pacing problem. The manga is constantly rushing through the plot instead of letting things breathe.

Take this chapter where so much happened that I think it could've been split into 3 chapters:

1. The MC learning her senpai was in love with her and then the senpai beginning to learn magic.
2. The LN length conversation with MC's mom then the scene with Kana.
3. Little Mermaid practice, MC talking about it being her last play, and senpai's realization about the love spell leading to her meeting up with Kana

^Does what matter? If it's about consent, see my first sentence. By literal definition, it is dubious regardless of whether I like the tag here or not.

If you're referring to Kana not being in love because of magic, it matters insofar as this is now the primary conflict of this manga. It remains to be seen whether the author is able to conceive a way to realistically convince the MC that her thinking is wrong. Or of course whether this development happens at all.

I think it's too early for the dubious consent tag. But I guess if we interpret the word literally, it is "dubious" that Kana is loving her of her own volition.

At this point it's not clear to me that magic is causing Kana to love her. The tag makes me think I'm getting spoilers from someone who knows something about future developments.

My guess is "the twist" is that magic isn't the reason Kana loves her, despite the foreshadowing from her dad's worries and the thoughts of the MC and theater senpai.

This is a whole different level of butchering though. To cut the first kiss from a romance anime almost goes beyond incompetence and into the realm of malicious.

On a brighter note, everyone's favorite Deer anime is the wonderful, unhinged adaptation that we all expected. Looks like we'll be getting some nice subtext.

The VTuber anime's MC is such a degenerate drunk lesbian and I love her. I know practically nothing about VTubers but still found it entertaining. Looks like she'll be flirting with the other VTubers and making lecherous comments quite a bit

^Was definitely fixed subs where I watched it because there wasn't any mistakes like that. Was either aniwave or gogoanime.
Browsed through a reddit thread and saw others who also had subs with no problems and were confused about the discussion.
Guess we'll see how things go next week.

@Fluffycow I don't know anything about that twitter user or this "Remow" they're talking about but what jumped out at me is they say it "might have" been done by AI...so I'll take their scoop with a grain of salt.
Ultimately seems it's a non-issue since there weren't any problems with the subs from what I could see while watching and I haven't seen any complaints elsewhere. The episode was great and I kneel before our new deer overlords.

So Ema is a delinquent yet pious exorcist who's family lives with a vampire...that sure is an interesting combination. She also whips herself and learns how to wrap bandages from a mummy.

Not sure. I stopped reading at volume 3 and left a note on my novelupdates list that the translation goes to shit with that volume.
So, good news! If you're taking issue with the TL in the first 2 volumes...it gets worse! ;D

Y'all have some good ideas for Matsuri. Still don't think we're going anywhere with her but I'm all for it if the story goes that way.

Maybe my mind is too Shuukura saturated but I don't think the story will stray far from the 2 lead characters. I suspect she'll just be used as a way to advance their relationship similar to how she was this chapter.

Kudos to Wakaba for keeping her verbal reactions to the minimum.

Poor Matsuri, though. Not sure if ai was used or not, but if so...... oh, doomed yuri.

It makes me feel better to imagine Matsuri is representing the bane of yuri readers: the old "just gals being pals and super affectionate". Think of her as Reina or Kumiko or someone like that.

Seen a lot of Bocchi comparisons which I understand, but I'm seeing Watanare with this group dynamic.

The MC is Renako who failed to make her HS debut pretending to be a popular extrovert.

The vampire is Mai with her high level charm, but she's not rich or as unbearable.

The simp is Kaho. An easy one to one comparison.

The exorcist is Ajisai when interacting with the MC and is Satsuki when interacting with the vampire.

It's shaping up to be a fun little gag manga but I wonder if there's too much going on with the whole school being full of various types of semi humans.

If I read the words "I hate you" just one more time in this series imma stop reading

Maybe it'll help if you just mentally substitute the "I hate you" with "I love you", since that's more or less what they really mean when they say it.
