Really nice short. I love Yadokawa in general though. Who wouldn't swoon over free/discounted sweets?

kind of incredible that the TL note literally states that the title is a reference to how people signal having a girlfriend and it's about two women yet let alone yuri, this isn't even tagged subtext.

Oh, I didn't notice the tags. You're right, even without the TL note, this one is clearly at least subtext (especially since the title seems to be from the perspective of our MC). The dialogue about the boss, was pretty heavily suggestive, if not outright screaming at us.

This is all really interesting. I don't feel like that final smile was genuine. Also, considering how much is left, I really wonder how this will all pan out!

Another amazing chapter. Everything the story has built up is used to characterize the interactions between the 3.

I still enjoy the story but at this point Mai is like an industry plant, and with barely any marketing. We're just supposed to want her to win out based on....?

Is it really any wonder that many are supporting actual developed character relationships over empty pinning for someone we essentially don't know, based on a non-crush from when they were basically toddlers?

The setup and choices of this manga have seemed suspect the more it's become clear that we really are supposed to view Mai as an end goal, rather than a catalyst. "I Won't Sleep With You for Free," is almost the same type of story but handles this specific issue much better.

I do feel like introducing nanao, while positive in the short term, kinda went too far and is detracting from the entire idea of the lesbian brothel escapades the story was built around.

This has been my feeling as well.

I didn't expect to see so much intense hatred for this series when returning to the forums with the new chapter. I'm surprised but everyone has their opinions.

It's mostly just one person, whose interpretation of the events of both versions, I'd disagree with but there's way too much to respond reasonably. Yeah, though preferences and opinions will always vary.

That aside though the new chapter was fun, the cuddling was cute, and I hope the woman spreading the nasty rumors falls down a well or something haha

She seems hilarious. I mostly enjoyed our Nun's complete disinterest towards those advances. She really danced and twirled her way out of that one.

Out of all the couples, they're my favorite. I like them all but these two have a dynamic that I enjoy the most.

Buying a car for the two of them is a big step; considering a home, is another. Seems like before that conversation, Asako hadn't really thought about how serious their relationship has become. She's treating Miyako like a life partner without realizing it.

We knew we'd have to deal with Miyako's identity being revealed eventually. Been building to that for a bit now. Seems like she'll blame herself when things go bad. She's been worried about her ability to provide Asako and "normal" life and this will certainly be the opposite of that. Asako will have to reassure her.

We've got an old fashioned chocolate showdown in the hallway. Looked like they were about to wrestle.

Hopefully soon, ideally to me, Kiki immediately realized "wait that actually just fucking happened" and runs after her.

That would be great but we still have the loaded gun of that other girl's warning from a few chapters ago. I'm expecting that we'll see the pair struggle after the confession and that will affect their dancing, just like the girl warned. Then after that, maybe things will come together fully, proving that girl partially wrong. Or maybe this is an opportunity to show that girl that her fears and apprehensions were completely wrong. A couple of good ways it could go.

She definitely could've worded that better lol, it's valid for her to not want to associate with her anymore as friends after confessing but making it seem like an ultimatum made this bad for the both of them

Well, a confession between two best friends/childhood friends kind of inherently is an ultimatum—it’s trying to get what you want at the risk of losing what you have, which is why so many useless MCs agonize about it so much.

Agreed, to both. This is a similar scenario to another series right now. Perfectly reasonable to distance oneself from a crush like that--just need to do it right. It's the reality of the situation. Can't force someone to date you but you also shouldn't be forced to feel that pain constantly. It's unfortunate, but the friend made her choice to date her. We don't know enough about them to tell whether the friend has feelings or not. Also agree on the headlock thing but I feel that was meant as a joke between friends (though pg13 could suggest something else).

The reverse is also true, just because the story try to tell something without romance in it, doesn't make it good automatically…

But no one said that.

No, but at the same time, saying "People don't seem to be able to appreciate a story without romance these days." is a bit harsh when the said story is average at best. It's too easy to blame it on the non-romance, when I think a lot more people wouldn't be disappointed if the story was better. I can appreciate an average to mediocre yuri story, because it's my jam, but an average to mediocre story like I think this one is, I'm just like "meh, I should have dropped it".

"I didn't like this story," is different from "worthless" and "nothing happened."

Did you see this comment, for example?

the story was just the teenager getting to figure out her life and that is all, the god damn yuri tag and the age gap tag should be god damn wipe from this manga, there was 0 relationship progression, there was 0 yuri in this story, unless you consider them becoming friends yuri and age gap??? like wtf was this story???

So by their own comment, did nothing really happen or?

Anyway, not necessarily this series but it often becomes clear from the way comments are constructed, that if the romance isn't the ultimate focus there's something wrong with the story. Depends on the community though. Series that are more adventure and plot focused for example get those kind of comments a lot, no matter the quality.

Sometimes I wonder what people think "a story" is.
No romantic resolution = "nothing happened"? You'll find that a lot of things happened in this story.

It's like when I was reading Komi-san, and everyone and their dog was like "nothing ever happens in this manga" and I was like ... what the heck are you reading a manga about a girl who wants to make 100 friends for if you think her making friends is "nothing happening".

People don't seem to be able to appreciate a story without romance these days.

Some people. But yeah, agreed. One of my pet peeves. I’m used to weird arguments on Dynasty forums (I’ve fallen into some of them myself), but “This series that has 6 chapters and 4 omake/special chapters up on MangaDex is only a one-shot” really takes the cake.

It's certainly wild, especially when there is a table of contents here as well (don't even have to touch the fact that it's other chapters are publicly available and translated).

Rampant cuteness across the board, btw

Also agree.

It's funny how differently the author sees her characters compared to some rather vehement arguments often thrown around in the comments.

Yeah, they're living their best life and having a good time, as we all should be lol. Manga is a lot of fun.

Naori’s charisma is too powerful lol

Also, we’re nearing idiot couple territory with this chapter

Based on the scene where they started watching Veryuri and Settsu's assessment, we're already there. I mean, that image of them watching a movie, with Hinata draped over Naori's shoulders, just screams "they're a couple" and the fact that they some how haven't realized it yet ...

Yeah I agree, it might be that they're taking the Futaribeya route, i.e. they're "roommates", aka super gay for eachother but don't feel the need to make it explicitly sexual or to put labels on their relationship beyond bartender and ogre.

Hinata wants to but Naori is still finding herself and working through her self-worth issues. It seems Hinata is being patient with Naori but has otherwise been pretty upfront about her feelings. She had that intimate moment when Naori was asleep much earlier in the series as well.

The friend, Settsu, has figured out Hinata and Naori's intimate relationship, so she's fully in the know (and now knows not to ever cross Hinata lol). Hinata has formed a sixth sense for Naori--even appreciating Naori as a friend makes Hinata's GF ears perk up lol. Looking forward to the event now! Hopefully Hinata can escape drinks.

ok, so i waited to see the ending of this manga to decide if it’s worth reading it….. did they confess at chapter 10 then? cuz i don’t see an confession, just your stupid typical non romantic “supposed” “confessio”

I'll give you this as an exercise to the reader: if in real life a pretty girl were to tell you she wants you to stay at her side forever, while bringing up wedding dresses, and specifically mentioning it not to be for cosplay... would you have ANY doubt AT ALL that she just made you an actual marriage propposal? Or rather, would that go far, far beyond what any jury could consider "reasonable doubt"?
This ending is not "suggested", is not "supposed", is not "implied": it is direct as (quoting Kappei Sakamoto) a mallet to the kidneys.

Yeah it couldn't be more blunt. Not subtle in the slightest.

Such an amazing series. Sena’s evolution has been handled so well. The two of them are lovely.

Honestly, I hope this girls' night shows her that it's not worth it, and she leaves and starts spending more time with the big sister, she already seems better than the other two, at least until now.

The big sister is the epicenter and engine of all this. Seems like she's the worst one. She showed some of her manipulative behavior a couple chapters ago and she's the one messing with her sister and this short haired girl, both of which seems to be coping with her behavior. Kawako is clearly crushing on our MC and seems the most worried for her but just acts tired and defeated by everything.

That was cute. Wedding dress and everything. Would have liked a kiss but not a big deal. All their series are short series, so I wouldn't be so quick to assume an axe. Ending felt normal to me anyway. Did what it sought out to do with their cosplay journey and ended.

This is my favorite of the three I’ve done for this book so far. Usually vague feelings are hard to handle and end up feeling weird or unsatisfying. But in this case it feels real to me. What do you say about the passing of an acquaintance/community member/girl you went on a quasi-date with once? How do you feel? Incredible sadness might not match well but neither does an absolute lack of emotion.

I also like that the story illustrates how things and people stick with us even if our time with them is brief. Ellie’s heels are on the main character’s mind even before the reveal, and I have a good feeling she’ll be remembering Ellie years and years from now.

It’s really hard to sun up but I really like that it’s partially about community and missed connections and the weird way life shakes out. There’s no indication the main character is into Ellie in that way (and not indication otherwise either) but clearly she was a person of interest. A fixture in the community. Moving on to the other, this is less present in the story but, personally, this makes me think of what ifs. Looking back and seeing a different life that you missed out on. “What if I had done this?” “What if I had gotten with that person?” “What if I had stopped that?” It’s not really super on the surface but it gives me the same weird feeling.

In the end life is strange and hard. Unexpected terrible things happen to those we know without knowing. People make lifetime impressions in a single night. An item becomes inextricably tied to someone. And all that’s left is to go on and deal with what comes, externally and internally.

Really nicely put. I loved this one as well.

Damn. I appreciate the emotional sentiment of this manga. The way people who might have been nothing more than acquaintances can have an effect on your life and find their way into your thoughts through little things that remind you of them.

I still think about old classmates who have passed whenever I see something that reminds me of them, wondering what they might be getting up to if they were still around.

Exactly. Makes you think about those memories that linger from really small things.

Enjoyed that. Presents something to think about. Also loved the connection between the opening, ending and it's themes. Felt like reading flash fiction. I'm becoming a fan of this author.
