Yeah, similar to a last minute name change we did for Plain JK, the author doesn't use furigana (ie. tiny hiragana/katakana that tells you how a kanji symbol is read) for names, meaning that if there's a kanji with multiple readings, there's no way of telling 100% which pronunciation is correct unless the name (or at least part of it) is written out in hiragana somewhere, be it as an angry yell, a stammer, or in this case, a partial hearing.

Yuru Oyako ch8-2 up on the Yuri Hub Fanbox. If the English version is following Taiyaki's Japanese plans, the complete chapter will be available for individual purchase at the end of the month (I suspect the other chapters will be available on Booth before then).

For those who can't afford subscriptions but still want to support the cause, Yuri Hub has begun releasing the English version of previous chapters in pdf format on Booth, with 1-4 available for free. These will likely be added as Taiyaki releases the Japanese versions to other platforms. And even if you're not able to buy, spreading the word is always helpful.

Full disclosure: These chapters (up to 7) are updated versions of the previous scanlated versions, now with commercial-free fonts and a few tweaks to the translation.

I believe so. Judging by the Japanese Fanbox, it doesn't look like any of the older chapters are removed after a certain amount of time. As long as it's labelled under the tier you're paying for, you should be able to access it.

@ Goggled Anon I managed to track down the right place to sign up to the 500yen plan you mention, but im not sure I understand what is being said above- If i subscribed to that I still dont get to read the full released chapters? and have to go to booth and pay there for those too? I've not exactly got much money atm- I dont want to pay 4 quid a month if its not even the full releases..

It's basically the same format from "My Daughter Is..." onwards (Dynasty's chapter numbering still needs to be updated to the official numbers) in which each full-sized chapter is made up of about three parts of about four pages each. If you're subscribed to the Fanbox, you get to read these individual parts as they're released each week. Once a full chapter is completed, it should be available for standalone purchase elsewhere. I'm admitedly not too well informed on the latter, so do ask Yuri Hub if you have specific questions regarding that. Either way, the expected pace should be one full chapter a month, so the options are basically subscribe and read each part as it comes out or wait until the full chapter is available and purchase that in one go. No need to do both.

Yuri Hub will work in pretty much the same way as the Japanese Fanbox, so advanced viewing (ie. the 3-4 page parts as they release) will be on Fanbox while complete chapters will be released on Booth or overseas sites or something... tl;dr If you're not a fan of the subscription module, there will be the option to purchase the completed chapters individually elsewhere. Much like Patreon, the former is more about getting rewards for supporting the artist as opposed to just buying stuff, so there's no shame in not going with that option if your budget/multitasking ability doesn't allow for it.

I dunno what my involvement with that might be yet (could be that they'll get another translator working on that) but at the very least, you won't be seeing fan scanlations from me personally for that series.

... Add one more reason to the pile for getting a decent-paying job, though I am as ever wary of how much it would cost me to subscribe to every service that I need to in order to get the privileged access.

If you're talking about this specifically, the only thing you'd pay for is the plan itself. Only other thing you gotta do is create an account on Pixiv, which is free to do and relatively easy since the site has English support these days. I do believe Taiyaki's also assembling volumes of about 7 chapters or so to release on Booth if you're more a fan of one-off purchases. (Although those signed up for the Premium Taiyaki Plan get to have their say in what the English version should be titled.)

As someone who is yet to read through this series, I am...immensely confused by this stuff about the chapter ordering. Where are chapters 19 and 20...? Like, 19 comes after 18, right...? And you can't get to 21 if you don't have a 20 first, right...? This thread makes me feel like I ended up in the Twilight Zone

Tl;dr there's a difference between the order the chapters are first published and how they're ordered in the tanks. Which gets even more confusing when some YtKs chapters are published in the Ks tank and vice versa.

They're more like amusing (and something kinky) anecdotes that happen off-screen, ranging from topical humor to delicious adultery. Start with the extras page on ch10 (when we actually noticed the comedy gold within them) and then keep your eyes out for them on ch10 onwards.

Latest chapter didn't translate "Saori and Shiori's flirty love twins comedy" even though reading that makes me smile like an idiot every time.

Yeah, I initially started TLing those bits as there was a variation in each chapter, but now that it's the same every time, there's not much point.

right? Not Hana chans? She is talking about leaving Noa-chans mom pinned to the wall by her own annoyed mom?

Hana-chans mom is WITH her so why wonder is she gonna be ok?

The setup here is that Hana has a track record of being terrible at cooking, and given that she already inherited her fashion sense from Haruka, Miyako was worried that's where she got her cooking ability from too. Hence Mya's surprise when Haruka can crack eggs perfectly.
