Can someone clarify what kind of exception prompted the licensed My Sweet Home anthology chapters to be posted here? I've seen cases where series with scanlations well ahead of the (typically large publisher's) official English release continue, but this is a 170pg+ doujin anthology that has been fully available in English since March for like $14, so it's kind of disheartening to see it appear here piecemeal.

We get to see this in the (utterly fantastic) Looking Up to Magical Girls, but beyond that I can't remember off the top of my head any media I've seen recently that really explores that headspace. [This is an undisguised request to reply with links to such media if you have them].

If I remember right, The Real Her gets into this quite a bit, but it's been forever since I read it and I think Yuuka's maybe more presented as an S-type in denial (or at least confused that anybody would enjoy being treated that way) than a complete amateur.

Before that ending I would have probably said the story would have been better without the ABO baggage (not because it's ~~~problematic~~~ but just because it's a ton of exposition for such a short story), but it was justified in the end, and I thought the story was much more interesting and enjoyable as a result. Glad I didn't skip this because of the comments!

If your next 1x1/2 fanfic is going to be as good as the first one and it'll have Ayako and Asuka in it would you mind if I translate it into russian? (I hope it'll serve as motivation).

Sorry to say Ayako probably won't (directly) be in the next one - I'd love to write her but I feel way more confident with Akira's character voice right now and so this one's mostly Akira x Asuka. Please feel free to translate anything though, if I keep writing these I'm sure I'll do something with Ayako and Asuka eventually. (This time I don't have a self-imposed deadline, so I've been working a lot slower...)

Died at how Taiyaki pretty much laid it all out in the afterword. I've been writing more 1x1/2 fanfic and really have a new appreciation for how draining tackling those themes can be if you're taking them seriously, especially for three or four years straight.

Also kind of nice to see the original English title for 1x1/2 may have won out? I always thought it was pretty.

I'd also really appreciate a way to track series chapter progress. Generally I'll put the next unread chapter in To Read for later, but that's not visible in the series chapter list (and means you have to remember to go back and remove it when you're finished).

When Negom gets into a ship she really gets into it, but I think this is the first time in a while she's also been completely deluged with other people's art of what she's into and she seems really excited about that, so even aside from seeing all these cute new works I'm really happy for her.

I really appreciated seeing more about Mihoko's past, but I had mixed feelings about the way their relationship would be handled going forward (the "pure relationship" talk among other things including the timeskip gave me the feeling the author was at war with their own premise whenever it didn't involve Takuya), so I'm honestly kind of happy this ended as a pretty good comedy series with some romantic bits even if the end felt rushed.

In that case, I think it was because there were other artists working under that name or a similar one, it was adopted around the Yuri Drill anthology. I wonder if it's kind of a pain on the administrative side to not have a (even pseudonymous) surname too. Personally, I'm kind of surprised mangaka would try the [company] [food] thing at all - Taiyaki probably won't get in hot water with a certain food conglomerate even given the WcDonalds-y setting of Yuru Oyako, but I've always wondered how Morinaga Milk got away with it...

That's a relief, I was considering mentioning something about the Booth R18 international credit card lockout to YH, but since it wasn't listed as R18 on Melonbooks I figured maybe it'd be OK. I'm glad they might have an alternative to release it intact. I know there were like a zillion people working on this but thank you for your work!

I'm admittedly super biased (I have the special edition with the mug, secret cover, etc on order), but I thought it was a really beautiful anthology. I never felt like the stories had the "too few pages for the premise" problem commonly seen in anthologies, and the range of tones (comedy, slice of life, ecchi, drama) meant not only that it was an emotional rollercoaster but also that there's something there no matter what you like.

I already expected to enjoy Taiyaki, Inui Ayu, and Tamamusi's stories since I was familiar with their work (though Inui Ayu's deviates pretty strongly from her usual tone), but "Sweet, But Bittersweet" (Misaki Tenmu), "As You Are" (Yoshimura Kana), and "A Monologue of the Same Shape" (Torii Sumi) really stood out to me even being mostly unfamiliar with the authors. Hopefully Taiyaki can put the complete edition (rather than just the SFW-ish one) out in English somewhere after the Fanbox period, I can't imagine how it'd feel to read "Distant Farewell" without Tamamusi's goofy emotional counterweight afterward.

I may be a bit slow, but is this series over?

Check the Vol 9 extras and around page 122 in this thread (the discussion got a little buried). Taiyaki is redrawing and re-editing everything up to this point: she's designated everything up to now the first part of the series and is looking to improve the consistency of the art and narrative before moving forward on the next.

Supposedly, it was over a "NSFW" profile icon of their characters that apparently wasn't that NSFW -- a bunch of other mangaka were making jokes about how you've really succeeded when even your characters' faces are too sexy to show.

It's a difficult existence...

I'm happy if you liked it! I've really enjoyed everyone's discussions here over all these pages and all the debate over the characters has been really helpful. Maybe except for that one person who claimed Ayako was secretly a witch / demon chimera entity who holds Asuka in magical thrall, I don't think I drew on that one at all, but otherwise it was especially useful to see the variety of opinions on Ayako/Akira's past relationship!

I was missing the series enough on hiatus and thought I might have come up with a setting that avoided excessive plot speculation, so I wrote a one-shot about Akira at her UK pharma job before she shows up in Vol 3 for New Years. I don't know if it's any good (I haven't done fanfiction in a really long time), but it was fun practice!

Since I know someone asked in the thread earlier about Taiyaki's stance on this stuff: I knew she's friendly to fan works in general, so I double-checked with her to make sure English works were okay. She said she'd be happy to see them no matter the language, and mentioned that any pairings (even het ones, apparently?) and adult content are also OK.

Also, she's graduated from her manga course and now has help with figuring out English translations, so she said she'll be focusing on the 1 x 1/2 reedit this year even if she goes blind and her arm falls off in the process.

Latest chapter was completely bonkers, Sayaka and Sumika's relationship (imagined or not) is quickly becoming my favorite part of the manga.

Also, I thought Sayaka's ノット海外 rant in English Ch5 now being French was a nice touch.
