Hylarn, last time, we discussed that Ripple seems to have been promoted as a main character and partner for Koyuki. I thought it was cool, yet worried about it because that indirectly implies that Top Speed fucking dies After watching ep9, yep.
Most anticlimatic death scene, they really didn't do it well imo. Calamity Mary's too, a one-hit KO with the shuriken seemed kinda... I didn't realise the shurikens were that OP.
Since they have to be down to 4 magical girls now, I'm honestly hoping for Koyuki, Ripple, Hardgore Alice and Tama.
I liked Swim Swim, but it's hard to now because legit everything she's done since Nemurin accidentally gave her ambition, is kill people. Aiming for the strongest, from Ruler's advice. The problem however, is also that legit everyone she's killed (since Ruler) mattered to someone else, so it's pretty painful to watch and support her. It's not personal, when she kills, but it's pretty ruthless. :( I think she's gonna die in the next ep. She's low key Icarus, aimed too high, she's gonna crash and burn. I do respect that she was more successful than Ruler at being a leader, however.
Man, I hope Tama lives. She's a good kiddo.
It's also particularly savage that the remaining twin can turn into a fucking weapon and fucking throw herself at people. I like Hardgore Alice, she makes me feel the calmest. Like, I trust her the most to stay alive, she gives me a certain piece of mind.

Not sure about that. When she kisses Yuma it's because "kissing means nothing anyway". So it seems that she is emotionally distant to Yuma, even though she hasn't physically gone.

Mm I haven't looked at it that way, you might be right... but I don't know, Hotaru always seemed emotionally distant, before she said it was just practice and now she's saying it doesn't mean anything (basically the same thing), that and other things leads me to the conclusion that Hotaru is not really aware of how Yuma feels about her.

True, Hotaru has always maintained this emotional distance (that Yuma never caught up on until she legit physically started leaving her).
The burden between balancing their bff status and her feelings for her puts Hotaru on a different mindset from Yuma's. Hotaru has more or less been lying to her about it this entire time, only sorta saying something like the truth when they last had a talk on their shared balconies (about how Yuma getting a boyfriend made her jealous, made her want to tease her, but it still wasn't the complete truth. Yuma still has no idea what's really going on in Hotaru's mind tbh, and understandably, it's hard because Hotaru doesn't want her to know, hence the distance between them, and why she made a point to ask if they can be friends forever. They're best friends and they care for each other, but there are things going on between them that aren't very typical of usual friendships lol. Yuma has to cross that distance herself tbh, if she wants to "work" whatever's the problem out. It's unlikely Hotaru will do anything more direct than just flirting with her and brushing it off as nothing serious.
As much as Hotaru is the one to have started it all, this ambiguity, she doesn't have the courage or determination (or believes that she deserves) to pursue more than what they have. I think a lot of future development will have to depend on Yuma. Unless something happens on Hotaru's side to incite her/make her want more and act on it, Hotaru will be pretty static about it all.

At first, for the cover page, I thought that I would have liked to see Subaru in the dress and Tsukasa in the pants and boots, but then I realised both were Subaru lmao
I think this series could use the Tomboy tag. It's not obvious at first, but we know now that Tsukasa is a pretty big tomboy, and arguably, Nadeshiko is too, to some extent. Tho it could be that she's just really good-looking, and looks quite dashing when she cross-dressed at the cafe, as well as the times Tsukasa imagined her as a prince.
It was a fine chapter, Subaru and Kyousuke have chemistry. I can ship this

I guess I get why Izetta's grandmother didn't want her to be like the White Witch, cus it would make sense, since in the end, someone she had protected betrayed her. It's pretty sad, that she betrayed her own code to do what she felt was right, and was stabbed in the back by someone from "her own side". I wonder if her character can be redeemed, "freed" somehow.

Keijo was fun. Mio's character is pretty much a joke/exagerated, the way she excessively flirts with other girls, but I kinda enjoy it? It's like a special kind of comeback, like when someone was being annoying, and she hit on them and they backed off right away, + Mio's teammates reactions, being pretty much used to it and not really gaf

And tbh, I was trying not to think about the deeper parts, because when you're the older one, you're either brought up (in conversations) as your sibling's goals/expectations of them, or you are basically what not to do, that they need to do better. I was just thinking of the scenes where Kumiko's eyes light up from her admiration of her sister, and it makes me feel like I should have been nicer. On the younger sister aspect, I can't relate to Touko. It all honestly feels like a drag, to have to represent something.

She did the cover art, might have contributed to something else in there too. It's a collection of works or something, but multiple artists, iirc (iirc, cus maybe I'm thinking about something else)

I wonder. Each Pure Illusion world, sometimes they're empty of people, sometimes they aren't. Could you ever visit the same world twice? What if you wanted to go back to one of them? What if you grew fond of someone in one of them? Can you choose not to come back? Why is it that Yayaka and co, and our main pair always visiting the same world at the same time? When Pure Illusion is opened, does it only open up to one world? Does the world continue to exist after they've left it? Are there just a lot of places existing at the same time, but somehow, they can only access one at once?

The worlds in Pure Illusion generally seem to be a reflection of the psyche of whoever entered it (Iroha's memories being the big outlier). I don't think it has much form when there's no one there. Similarly, if there's only one area that everyone is visiting that just changes forms, the way the groups keep meeting isn't strange

What about the creatures, or people/inhabitants Pure Illusion sometimes has?
The entire desert village and desert bandits group in Ep 3, the uh antagonist and her harem of gagged women?
Does their existence just... reset? Are each world wiped out, as they leave it/remove the amorphous?

I don't remember how much comedy Sasameki Koto has, but I feel like a lot of plot driven but high school focused anime have some comedy in it. By "comedy", I'll take you mean something like Inugami to Nekoyama

(from browsing the "shoujo ai" tag on myanimelist, cus most anime get swept up under that tag tbh)

Hm, it is. Whether it's "rushing" or not is subjective, depends on the person involved, which I should have specified. In Yuma's case at least, I think it was rushing it. At least on her end, she wasn't ready. Assuming that their first kiss/double date at karaoke was all they've done until then, that's quite fast imo. They went on a double date and then he tried taking her home. Takeda pls.

She was aware it would be eventually coming, I don't think she was that innocent.

At the point of the trip, she was, but the first time Takeda hinted at it/brought it up (right before they went to the amusement park instead), she was more or less confused, Hotaru had to spell it out for her.
But yeah, I'm sure he does have feels for her and all, but his love isn't ideal either. I just don't think he's as nice as people think he is. Sure, comparing to the rest of the cast, there is a gap, but eh.

I saw it as him associating that not being comfortable enough for sex = SHE DOESN'T REALLY LOVE YOU, which makes me feel "eh". Aren't "nice guys" supposed to like, aim for being loving, understanding and supportive, but instead he was like "it's okay, you don't have to force yourself, *pained face*, *stops talking to her for the rest of winter break*". It irks me, that unwillingness to have sex correlated with "she's not into you". Ofc it's always a possibility, but he made a leap and stuck with it and just pouted like a kid for weeks.
Like the way Yuma is acting now not rejecting Hotaru because she doesn't want her to leave, she could have easily stopped rejecting Takeda and slept with him, to stop him from leaving. Idk if Takeda meant it like that, but I do know that Hotaru really meant to leave, and wasn't just making a point. But the conclusion would have been the same, if it had influenced Yuma's behaviour like that, it's kinda unintentional emotional blackmail.
They just shared their first kiss ever like, a week-few weeks ago max, I think he tried to escalate it too quickly. If she hadn't seen what seemed to be Hotaru and Fujiwara post-sex, she wouldn't even have gotten as far as to share the room with him that night. Regardless of how Yuma feels towards Hotaru, I think that she did like Takeda to some extent, and really, regardless of Hotaru's interferences, he was rushing it and she clearly wasn't as confident/comfortable as he was [horny].
