Is it time to have a Legs tag? I'm pretty sure we already have a Feet tag.

Done.

Unrelated but I love your avatar

Why, thank you.

I can't find it with google image search. Can you tell me where it is from or give a link to the pic/page/whatever it is from?

Here you are:

It reminded me of the Suwako-san doujins. Maybe Ayumi has the same mindset.

Well, no biggie. Just hope it's nothing major for Ssamba's sake.

Thanks for the translation, halmoni.

I just love Yumiya's Keine's womanly appeal. It's a great foil for Mokou's innocent charm.

Who is the person in the flashback? I don't mind spoilers.

I didn't see a prequel to this on the artist's pixiv so I think it's probably something from the anime. Thanks in advance.

It's from a long-running series about a group of high-school girls. There are also other sempai Hana is close to and maybe even closer to, for example Akira. At least the Artist clearly considers it yuri and tagged it as such.

Thank you very much for the summary. I appreciate it and it helped me make sense of it.

At times I also wasn't sure if the thought bubbles were still Nagato's or if they had switched over to Houshou.

For which chapter?

I had just read the scene on the Kongou's couch in 'TOGE'. I reread it and figure everything that's in voice-over is Nagato's thoughts.

If I can think of any meaningful questions, I'll make sure to ask them here. Looking forward to the remaining chapters.

morter:
I thought that feet and legs were the same thing (足) in Japanese? So how does the last balloon on page 26 go?

It's just ashi (脚) in the original, as one word, but I translated it out as both since both meanings are important to the story. Really really good question.

I really liked how that was worded when I was reading the last page. GJ!

I had a hard time following the plot and the author's notes didn't make it any clearer with refering to the prequels as side stories 1-3 instead of the titles. I really don't have the faintest which stories he is referring to. Fake could be side story 1 because Shoukaku knows about Houshou's wounds but it was uploaded last. sighs

At times I also wasn't sure if the thought bubbles were still Nagato's or if they had switched over to Houshou.

Somehow I really enjoy it when one of them is already working and has learned a trade. It reminded me a bit of http://dynasty-scans.com/chapters/our_future_plans#1 (sans the nfsw).

Oh, I just saw that those points have already been discussed. I was reading up old stuff and figured I'd better post before I forget to.

Should teach me to read everything before posting. Still, thank you for your reply! :)

Add We never got to see Keiko get closure with her ex, or really show much reaction at all to talking to him, despite it being something hanging over their heads through 90% of the series.

I would even go so far to phrase that We never got to see anything that suggested a change in Keiko's way of dealing with emotions.

Even at the end she was pretty much dead-pan and showed no emotions when her final breaker with her ex was mentioned. She never showed any beginning of coping with the miscarriage and even when Ran was crying herself to sleep she showed no strong reaction. Or when Ran was hugging her in the showed. That was quite unsettling.

Although I like the art, I feel an awful lot is crammed into only so much space. The relationships of the ship girls is complex enough already and now there is also the identity struggle because of their past lives as ships. And Zuikaku's appearence seems to ovrrwrite Shoukaku's ship girl memories of Houshou and their promise? Seems a bit much to me and makes it a bit confusing.

Did Shoukaku bite Houshou at the end of the chapter and try to make her hers by force or did she stop herself from doing it? I couldn't really tell. Either Shoukaku closes her mouth or it shows Houshou's reaction to the bite.

You can tell this wasn't one storyboard and developed chapter by chapter. The artist's Erika x Gertrud stories suffered from the same plight, though it didn't matter because there was less plot-driven drama.

It's a bit confusing when the author states the story from the first chapter continued from p.21 onwards.

I have no idea how that would add up.

From the pixiv, the order it was uploaded in is Cage, Tenohira, 1/2, Edge and Fake.

I'm not sure if we can extend it that far. Remember that we're talking about disease, aging, lack of young people, death. These are incredibly general. ...
It might be instead worthwhile to think here of the attitudes of the townsfolk as reacting to difference, to the other.
...
The theme of LGBT as scapegoat isn't far fetched in the slightest.

Thank you, this was what I was actually thinking of. When I was thinking of a disease people are blamed for , HIV and how LGBT people were blamed for it in the 80s and 90s came to mind. That was the only point I was trying to make. I think even today homosexuals are banned from donating blood in some countries, stemming from thinking it's a 'gay disease', so that stigma is still there.

^ More like the plague. HIV/AIDS isn't that fast acting as they depict it, plus they have warts (I know that it lowers the immune system and it could be why they have warts, but the plague makes more sense time-period wise)

Of course. I didn't mean to say that the disease in the story is HIV but looking back I think I worded that so poorly it looks like I was.

3) I think it's feasible to regard the whole of the plot here as a metaphor for the journey of self-discovery that is the process of coming out. The initial self-identification as a "normal" member of society, the curiosity, the hostility, the "closeted" stage, suspicion from others, backlash, and ultimately self-acceptance. Put the page order into timeline order, and that's what you get. (Of course, I'm not saying that this is the only meaning of the story. There are other things going on here. But this is one thing here.)

Thanks for the food for thought. The only thing that surprised me was the mention of a terrible disease bereaving people of their families. Now I figure it's supposed to be HIV/AIDS and it just fits.

I haven't really seen HIV pop up as a theme in comics about homosexual life since the late 90s and I don't think I've ever read about it in manga. Thoroughly enjoyed this work; thank you for translating it.

I think it's been a while that a doujin has a considerable amount of guest pages.

That was the icing on the cake for me. Loved the release!

I just watch the yearly movies since they provide just as much actual plot advancement (aka zero)

So much truth in those words. I think I'll just add another five years of not reading. The things I really enjoyed were the story arcs with the Police couple and some of the murder-of-the-week cases. I feel Gosho Aoyama lost his verve when he got divorced.
