Kidding, but this has been quite the long flashback. Probably feels much shorter when binged instead of reading as chapters are posted.

Miyagi is just so precious to me. She is definitely of my favorite characters in a story. She deserves someone who will tell her that she is loved and cherished, and she deserves someone to tell her that they want to be with her forever, but unfortunately she is stuck with Sendai.

I definitely like Miyagi the character. Her unique way of going about things is what makes the story so interesting to read.

But I could not disagree more with your assertion that "unfortunately she is stuck with Sendai". Miyagi is someone who finds it difficult to get along with people. Maika being the one exception since she seems to do most of the heavy lifting as far as inviting Miyagi to do things when she'd rather stay inside (which I do find relatable as an introvert).

Sendai is also the one who does a lot of the heavy lifting in maintaining their relationship.
She was the one who came back after Miyagi tried to drive her away during the soda incident.
She's the one who arranged the apartment setup when Miyagi had already given up on their relationship continuing.
She's the one who pushes for both outside dates and gets Miyagi to compromise on at-home dates when Miyagi is resistant to the idea.
She's the one who initiates almost all the physical intimacy, particularly everyday things like quick kisses and hugs. She continues to do so even though Miyagi often rebuffs even small casual intimate acts like that.
And she's the main cook, though Miyagi is no longer a total disaster in the kitchen.

All that heavy lifting aside, Sendai's main flaws are she's hesitant to clearly express her feelings for Miyagi because she's afraid of Miyagi running away (which Miyagi does have a history of doing) and masking her emotions at times because she's afraid of her real self being rejected.
You state Miyagi "deserves someone to tell her that they want to be with her forever", but love is a two way street and Sendai also deserves that. Both are guilty of failing to step up and put their feelings out there.

Sendai is someone who could probably mold themselves to fit a variety of different partners with different personalities.
She wouldn't be nearly as happy as she is with Miyagi though.

Miyagi is much more uncompromising by nature and would find it hard to impossible to be in a relationship with anybody else. But like I often think and have said, "Thank God Miyagi found Sendai because ain't nobody else putting up with her shit".

Same LOL. I can already tell this is going to be angsty but it's been ages since I've actually found any yuri worthwhile. I wish there were more realistic adult life manga out there that deal with homophobia and comphet. They are very much real issues and I find the all girls school, yuri utopias where everybody is gay kinda cringy and unrelatable.

The runaway wife might be comphet but we don't know.
The MC seems to have awakened to her bisexuality since it seems she had previously been attracted to at least one guy and had a physical relationship with them.

I wasn't upset, I just closed the thread as soon as I saw spoilers and went "oh well I guess that's why it's a lonely thread lol". I can't take part in the discussion if the discussion is based on stuff I can't read without abandoning quality standards, and I doubt this is that rare of a stance, especially on Dynasty (which feels particularly hostile to MTL compared to a place like the Mangadex forums)

And it's not a rare stance...hell it's my stance on TL but Shuukura is the one exception.
There would be no exceptions if it hadn't ensnared me very early on despite the MTL.

I'm jealous of you having started with the good human TL instead of that crappy MTL. I would have never viewed the MTL as an option if I hadn't been reading it before the human TL began.
But I had already been hooked on it for awhile so it's hard to quit now. I'm now reading both the good TL and MTL and commenting on each.
I only started this thread because the silly MTL site was having issues with comments and I no longer had anywhere to discuss the recent chapters.

I think you mean I immediately open the thread with "I'm a fool reading the MTL version". Which is then, very predictively, followed by discussion about recent MTL chapters.

But no, I am not surprised the thread is lonely because the MTL sucks.
I would have never started reading the MTL version if the good human TL had been around when I started reading.
But that good TL started after I had been interpreting the MTL and discussing it in chapter comments for awhile. I was already hooked on the series despite the terrible MTL and, as a long time reader, didn't want to quit the MTL as I waited for the good translation to catch up.

I'm still reading and commenting on the good human TL WordPress threads too. And if that silly site for the MTL wasn't having issues with comments being posted on the chapter pages, I never would have created that thread in the first place.
But there is no longer a way to comment and discuss on those MTL chapter threads, which prompted me to create a thread to discuss recent developments.

Sorry if my thread somehow upset you. I'll edit my first comment so it's more clear I was intending to discuss untranslated chapters.

Actually now that I think about it, I'm pretty sure the aftermath of the "soda incident" felt different in your release than the MTL.
I recall being quite upset at Miyagi and thinking she was too indifferent about how she treated Sendai in the MTL.
In your translation, Miyagi's regret came through more strongly. So while I was annoyed with her, I felt more satisfied that she regretted her actions.

There's definitely some major differences in how I interpret some interactions when I read the MTLs versus reading your releases. I can't give you specific examples off the top of my head but I believe I've commented on about any specific instances on your WordPress chapter pages.

In general, Miyagi feels much more nuanced and less cold and distant in your translation than she does in the MTLs.
Frankly, MTL Miyagi pisses me off at times and makes me think Sendai could do better. But in your translation Miyagi comes off as kinda cute with her petulant attempts to maintain distance between her and Sendai.
Look no further than the top comment of this thread where I'm complaining about how Miyagi's acting in the recent MTL chapters. Like with the earlier chapters, I'm sure when I read your translation of them I'll have a much more favorable impression of Miyagi.

^You're right IMO. And in the long run the "pay for gay" actually doesn't end up being a major plot point for either story.

Also good to see you on Dynasty. Love the translations and got caught up with it after seeing your comment.

In normal day to day interactions they still use family names, much to my and Sendai's annoyance. They've discussed the reasons for this quite a bit.

However Sendai forces Miyagi to accept calling each other by given name during the few times they've have sex.

My first thought when I read they were 21 and 24 was "that's good for them they're about the same age". But Kon was shocked because in her mind they're not "around the same age".

^True. Maybe "Angsty girls play gay chicken" would work better. We get to read their thoughts and clearly neither girl has clinical depression, although they do have other issues they're grappling with.

I choose the word "depressed" over "angsty" to fit the mood of the story, not to clinically diagnose the characters lol. Angst is a relatively high drama term but this is a relatively lower drama introspective story. Maybe "Sad girls play gay chicken" would be best idk lol. I don't really want to get into spoilers and big analyses of stuff not in the manga yet

Does "acting on her selfish desires" have to be to literally lock Aya inside the house? Saying that she is lonely and begging Aya not to interact with anyone else is emotional manipulation.

Of course, it doesn't have to be literally locking Aya inside, but I don't think what she said here is a tactic of emotional manipulation either. As you can see, Koto does have these selfish thoughts, and she is aware of how bad they are; that's why she tried to keep them to herself. However, when Aya kept asking what was wrong, Koto became so emotional that she couldn't hold it in anymore and let everything slip out. I see it as letting your emotions get the better of yourself, and because of that, you said what you weren't supposed to say. Of course it's a different story if Koto keep pulling this shit, but for now, I think saying that she abused Aya just from what she said when losing her composure is a bit unfair to her.

Take this explanation and replace the acts of emotional abuse with physical abuse. Maybe that will show you how this attempt at excusing her behavior does not pass the smell test.

Typical way how an abuser might gaslight you into believing "it's not that bad".
