@Kal3d Fair, though what "substance" exactly is I'd argue is a bit subjective. Since people have different definitions of what makes an actually plausible ship, you might think a ship is far fetched but someone else might think it makes more sense than the canon relationships.

Take for example "Sound! Euphonium", I think there's a lot of scenes in that series that easily cement a plausible ship, I'd probably use your definition of substance for my main ship in that series. However I've seen people repeatedly saying shippers are just reading in to it, the usual "why can't they just be friends?" argument that people use against ships, and so on and so fourth. I think that's a good example of different perspectives, and why to some the JJK canon context of the characters in this fan-art is nothing more than friends, and a ship with them isn't something of substance to those people. Subjectivity, and that's fair enough. While personally I'd disagree, and I think the ship does have substance. You and I might line up with some of our ships and disagree on others, like I think some of the BNHA ships do have substance personally, and you might not. That's entirely fine, everyone has their own views.

I'm not counting my eggs yet, I need some solid proof that the sister survives, and won't be killed randomly by a sniper or something...

^While I know "aren't these characters that shared a glance tots gay for each other" is a thing, I think a decent amount of ships have more reasons than that. Including BNHA ones where a lot of the shipped characters are often close friends at least. I think part of the fun of ships is having fan-reasons and even fan-narrative where characters you like get together even though it's not canon. Going past close friends, into something more.

It's fantasy sure, but it's sometimes preferred over the canon romances, plus ships are often done for same sex relationships because of how the canon relationships normally follow a very specific hetero course. Which I'm sure I'm stating the obvious, I just think regardless this JJK ship is nice to have since it provides an alternative fan-option over the canon path the series will likely follow. Options are good is what I believe.

^Yeah I think similar vein as BNHA, "crackship" would imply there's basically no real logical reason for the ship, often no connection between the characters. Both JJK and BNHA have some same sex ships that have at least some decent logic to them, however they're just like most media out there where the chances of an official same sex relationship is a very unlikely outcome, unfortunately.

^Keqing doesn't hate the gods and the adepti though. She's a critical thinking skeptic that doesn't believe in blind faith. She also believes this is the age of man and humans should rely on their own strength. Ganyu finds that to be strange as she believes in the gods, but in her profile she says that Rex Lapis told her "Ganyu, this is just the kind of person Liyue needs in this day and age." Not even the god himself holds Keqing's thinking against her, because he understands where she's coming from.

So I don't think the trope really applies to them as they're not enemies, they just hold different views and are trying to understand each other. I think it's more along the lines of "opposites attract", rather than "enemies/friends/lovers".

from enemies to lovers

people love to fetishize toxic relationships/things all the time (especially in the anime/manga community), no biggie unless you're letting it directly effect you or someone else in my opinion. but most important of all, that was fucking hawt.

Eh I wouldn't say "especially" with the anime/manga community, when we have things like Twilight and 50 shades, along with a ton of other media that fetishize toxic relationships and have been popular successes. I've also seen a couple videos on how platforms like Amazon have no end to lesser known novels made by women and for women with plotlines like a guy kidnapping her, Stockholm syndrome, so fourth. Guys also have their own taboo subject novels of course.

My only point being, humans around the globe in every community love some dark taboo things.

Hm...this ending felt very meh to me, but I guess there is still hope. I really liked the characters. Yuri really doesn't sell, even less so if you dare to do anything different from the usual bland school girl setting.

I know this was a fantasy setting...but you say that when it was still about moe-loli-school girls, seems a bit silly to me. We've also been in a time of Office Lady Yuri being popular and selling well (at least for Yuri) for at least a couple years now.

Another thing, given that this was a Yuri Hentai-Comedy I honestly believe your ire is better placed on the fact that stories with "ugly-bastard" dudes are far more popular in the hentai world than anything Yuri related. The Yuri community shouldn't be divided based on personal preferences and tastes imo.

^I think the ships are good if you make your own canon and lore, or/and follow fan-fiction lore and head canons in the community. Which I'd argue is kind of what people had to do, because of the official interactions being well as you said, a bit anemic to say the least.

^They're both "foreigner" class servants and connect there, there's also some official interaction between them (dialogue/lore at least). Basically Abby likes to watch Oei (Hokusai) draw, and is a bit jealous of her drawing ability. Oei I think finds Abby to be interesting as well, and there's a fan-translated line on one of the game wikis where Summer Oei says Abby looks like she'd grow into being a beauty. Additionally they're designed by the same artist as well.

^For you I recommend the "Perfect Feet" image pool on Danbooru, I'd link it along with the tag I previously mentioned to someone else, but I don't know if I'm allowed to link to the site since a lot of the art on there is explicit/NSFW. It's an easy google search though.

At this point, this current arc has been going on for over half the total chapters if you count the start of it as Ai showing up. This pacing change has been really rough.

Yeah I'd agree with the critique people have about the pacing, and various other elements. Still I'm here because at this point I simply want to see both sisters happy, fingers crossed.

Nooooo, Tong Tong, you poor sweetheart!! Right in the abandonment issues, oof ouch owie my absolute trauma.

I’m really loving how down-to-earth and real the characterization is in this. There’s an interesting trend I’ve noticed that the highschool setting manhua I’ve read seem to tend a lot more toward the realistic and grounded, like “observations of humans” kind of stuff compared to most highschool romance manga, which seem more.... IDK, scripted, removed from reality? Does anyone know what I’m trying to say / agree? Is this just a sample size thing?

I've read plenty of high-school romance manga where I found the writing and specifically the characters to be realistic. Also non-romance manga based in high-school as well. Plus I've actually read various Manhua high-school romances that I found to be highly unrealistic, some of which I still very much enjoyed. So I can't say I agree personally. Though I think this also depends on the reader, and what they define as realistic, removed from reality, and so fourth. I've seen people say X series is unrealistic, and then other people say actually X series is pretty realistic to their own experiences and views. So it's ultimately all subjective I think.

Edit: Also I bet there's some people that don't think this series is realistic, but still enjoy it. Some of those people might think certain manga are realistic that you don't. Again all subjective. I also don't think starting a Manhua VS Manga thing is a good idea. They're both entirely valid and we don't need tribalism arguments breaking out. I enjoy both, and I'm enjoying this series. That's all there is to it for me.

Edit 2: I'd also like to say that sometimes authors (for both Manga and Manhua) intentionally aren't going for realism, which I think is also entirely valid.

It was an absurd and silly series..and then the abrupt tragic ending happened. Very unfortunate :\

That said though, thank you for the translation and to everyone who worked on the series! While I find the ending frustrating I'll always appreciate the hard work people put into these projects. The creator as well, even if I don't agree with some of their choices their work is still appreciated. Hopefully I'll enjoy the creator's future works more.
