Well, that is nice.

Cacuga Apr 13, 2021 9:31AM

Since it has the Spoiler tag am i right to assume this is canon?

@herenowforever Not like i didn't notice the injuries, in fact i thought it was Balalaika before checking the tags, but to be honest didn't even crossed my mind that this was the spoiler. Thanks for point it out.

"Since it has the Spoiler tag am i right to assume this is cannon?"

It doesn't necessarily mean the yuri part is canon. There are some other elements in the image as well...

Maki first post Shinjuku Incident arc appearance was chapter 143. Nobara has not re-appeared yet.

Zexalfan Apr 13, 2021 6:23PM

so it's only spoiler for Maki as of yet.
@MagicalGirlGirl, hey can i ask you? how far did the anime adapted from the manga?

Kal3d Apr 14, 2021 2:25AM

So, as someone who hasn't watched or read Jujutsu Kaisen, is this a crack pairing like the ones from MHA? Or is there any indication that yuri MIGHT happen? Not that it matters in my decision to watch it, but i definitely don't want to hope for something that would never happen.

Lbeingrllygay Apr 14, 2021 10:17AM

^ these girls are close in canon, it's not a crackship, but the series isn't concerned with romance at all so chances of any ship happening are kinda slim. the series is very enjoyable and there's lots of great characters so i still recommend it. here's a collage of official art and moments though

I have to add that the English VAs ship it and even commisioned and signed art of the ship

FluffyCow Apr 14, 2021 12:44PM

^Yeah I think similar vein as BNHA, "crackship" would imply there's basically no real logical reason for the ship, often no connection between the characters. Both JJK and BNHA have some same sex ships that have at least some decent logic to them, however they're just like most media out there where the chances of an official same sex relationship is a very unlikely outcome, unfortunately.

^They're probably gonna turn Nobara into Yuji's love interest anyway

Also damn amazing to see this kind of fanart especially after everything that happened. I kinda love it with their scars and who else bets that Nobara is still alive?

@Zexalfan The anime adapted the first 64 chapters of the series. Also later this year there's gonna be a movie that adapts volume 0 of the series, which was the original prototype of the series that was published in 2017 before JJK started serialization in 2018.

kai3 Apr 14, 2021 7:17PM

No idea what’s happening but I really like the matching lingerie and how the burn (?) scars are drawn!

Kal3d Apr 14, 2021 8:20PM

@Lbeingrllygay Thanks a ton for the very informative response. I was already planning on watching the series ever since i heard all the praise it got on social media, but i was curious to see why so many people were shipping these two characters and wanted to see if it wasn't just the "aren't these characters that shared a glance tots gay for each other" crowd going at it. I know shounen shows are pretty well known to never even entertain the idea of same sex couples on a popular show like this, but its surprising to see theres at least something that supports the ship within the show and that it has many supporters as well.

But yeah, i knew that if one of these characters was a main one, it was almost a given that they're going to fall in love with the MC eventually. It's the way shounen works.

FluffyCow Apr 14, 2021 9:43PM

^While I know "aren't these characters that shared a glance tots gay for each other" is a thing, I think a decent amount of ships have more reasons than that. Including BNHA ones where a lot of the shipped characters are often close friends at least. I think part of the fun of ships is having fan-reasons and even fan-narrative where characters you like get together even though it's not canon. Going past close friends, into something more.

It's fantasy sure, but it's sometimes preferred over the canon romances, plus ships are often done for same sex relationships because of how the canon relationships normally follow a very specific hetero course. Which I'm sure I'm stating the obvious, I just think regardless this JJK ship is nice to have since it provides an alternative fan-option over the canon path the series will likely follow. Options are good is what I believe.

@MagicalGirlGirl thank you for the reply as well for the info in the movie ^^
while I am the kind to usually start drom the beginning I still was curious of how far the anime made it, thank you for helping me with my doubt~

Kal3d Apr 15, 2021 4:50AM

@FluffyCow I get what you're saying. I also like to fantasize about same sex couples on my favorite anime series, hell, thats how i discovered yuri and yaoi in the first place. But i was just trying to know was if this ship was one of those fantasy land ships many fans of yuri/yaoi made on the spot or if it had some grounds in reality since i've seen a couple of official artworks of them together. I don't have anything against the former since you can ship whoever you like as long as you're not being toxic about it, but i just like it when my gay ships have a little substance to them.

FluffyCow Apr 15, 2021 3:28PM

@Kal3d Fair, though what "substance" exactly is I'd argue is a bit subjective. Since people have different definitions of what makes an actually plausible ship, you might think a ship is far fetched but someone else might think it makes more sense than the canon relationships.

Take for example "Sound! Euphonium", I think there's a lot of scenes in that series that easily cement a plausible ship, I'd probably use your definition of substance for my main ship in that series. However I've seen people repeatedly saying shippers are just reading in to it, the usual "why can't they just be friends?" argument that people use against ships, and so on and so fourth. I think that's a good example of different perspectives, and why to some the JJK canon context of the characters in this fan-art is nothing more than friends, and a ship with them isn't something of substance to those people. Subjectivity, and that's fair enough. While personally I'd disagree, and I think the ship does have substance. You and I might line up with some of our ships and disagree on others, like I think some of the BNHA ships do have substance personally, and you might not. That's entirely fine, everyone has their own views.

Honestly I’d be sad if nobara does end up as yuji’s love interest cause I just love their friendship so much. Not that a romance would necessarily ruin that but I just love seeing a bunch of besties.

But god I adore maki with all my being lol

Itzameapotterhead Jul 2, 2021 10:53PM

As much as I love Nobamaki, it's more likely that Maki will end up with Ookotsu. It's already been teased about in the prequel. Still holding out hope for these two tho lol

Also, let's hope that Nobara is still alive. I don't think that the author would've made Nobara's condition vague for this long only to announce that she's dead.
