Wow, Asagi Ryuu x Sonohana, huh. I still haven't gotten much experience with the latter series, simply having watched the OVA, but the detailed character descriptions at the end of these chapters sound really interesting. I'll definitely have to find the time to get into the series. In the meantime, this spinoff manga is looking very nice. Thanks to (hmm...whoever is scanlating this?) for the translations!

Haha. On the other hand, I see things like QC versions of new Saki chapters being fully dumped on /a/, so that I never know if the people reading them there bother to go through the final versions. In which case, the extra work and quality added/errors fixed by the QCers are wasted. It's in that sense that I'm sometimes a little concerned about leechers showing a bit more patience or awareness towards the works in progress.

Err, Yuri Project releases are already hosted on the reader...but since it's just the translation, I guess it might be a while before the chapters get released. It's true that you can get a preview of a lot of the series Yuri Project is working on by visiting their boards directly, but I dunno how they feel in particular about their works-in-progress being shared around.

Oh well, I guess this is helpful for anyone who wants an early preview.

Why no Futanari? 08 Feb 03:05

This is a continuation of a pretty old thread (from more than a year ago, actually). I don't think any of us really knows what DeliciousVodkaBlair was talking about when asking about Futanari romance, 'cause I've certainly never read anything remotely approaching that which wasn't H.

When it comes to H though, since Dynasty does host some of that, I will say that I'm perfectly fine with Futanari. It's certainly preferable to het, in any case. Although saying that, I don't mind supporting the sentiment that real yuri is what I'd like to see on the reader most of all.

Why is this series so good. Well actually no, I could explain it if I wanted to (art + comedy + character personalities, i.e. the outer layer of sadist + tsundere masochist interactions covering over a heartwarming story of friendship (and hopefully eventually more) underneath). Still, I am on the edge of my seat for more chapters (these sidestories were very nice!).

Hmm. How about links to the scanlator group on their directory page, or something? Those links used to be there, but I can't find them right now for some reason.

Really awesome to have you guys back, btw. I've been lacking my regular intake of yuri. The new interface thus far is quite a bit different from the old one, but I think I will get used to it just fine.

Hmm, something seems to be up with the Morinaga Milk page; the two series "Even if we're not friends" and "Kisses, Sighs, and Cherry-Blossom Pink" are both empty and have the same cover picture (the pic for the latter).

Looking at the description of "Even if we're not friends" it seems like it might be a continuation of the oneshot "Fall in Love", would that be true? If so, I'm pretty excited because I really loved that one-shot, lol. It would be great to find out it's a serialization, although looking over Morinaga's page in general it seems like there are a whole lot of series by her which are still only partially translated.

Tsubomi is ending 13 Dec 06:49

lol, I have to admit that I mostly do only follow this site regularly. More accurately, I use it as an aggregator (I guess I can't into RSS, or something, lol), so I generally only visit scanlator/news sites when a release pops up, or I'm looking for discussion.

Anyway, your title post says "Yuri Hime is ending", but if I'm not mistaken that's separate from Tsubomi, right? While I'm certainly disappointed with the end of the latter, I think the closure of the former would be a much bigger deal.

Maria Sama Ga Miteru 20 Aug 18:40

The manga stopped serialization after 7 volumes corresponding roughly to the original Roses' graduation (Youko, Sei, Eriko), for a long time. It then started back up for two short volumes corresponding to the meeting/seourship between Shimako and Noriko (as part of the promotional period for, I believe, the live action movie). It is my impression that it is very unlikely that the manga will ever fully/seriously resume/start back up again.

Correspondingly, and also looking at the statements Lilicious has made about the kind of stuff/series they will be focusing on recently, I think it's pretty unlikely that Lilicious will pick the manga back up at this point.

If you want to get more of Marimite, check out the novels: http://www.baka-tsuki.org/project/index.php?title=Maria-sama_ga_Miteru
There is tons of material to read there, and even still ongoing translation, thanks to the heroic efforts of Enn_are.

GendoIkari wrote

From the anime I remember the ending being disappointing since the LN author hates lesbians with a passion.

This is sheer ignorance so I would also advise you to read the novels. Marimite is one of the jewels of the yuri community, even if most of its relationships do not feature explicit lesbian interactions, due to its strength/success as an actual piece of meaningful work/characterization/literature. Marimite is situated, in many aspects, in the traditional lesbian genre, "Class S" literature, only with somewhat of a more modern/progressive outlook on society. However, seeing as a great part of the traditional Class S genre was CRITICISM of society, which treated relationships within all-girls environments as immature or transient and refused any basis for their survival in adult society, a large part of its emphasis was specifically on the doom and tragedy of its characters' genuine but impossible relationships.

As a more modern work, Marimite does not exclusively confine its stories and attitude to the despair and tragedy characteristic of traditional Class S literature, but simultaneously, it is impossible for Marimite to go flat-out and engage explicitly in real-life LGBT identity/discourse/politics because a great part of its appeal/origin is particularly in how it PRESERVES the beauty and romanticism of traditional Class S/platonic relationships. While there are characters such as Sei whom Konno Oyuki could definitely explore/situate in an explicitly LGBT context, the focus of the story--character growth/interactions within Lilian's traditional girls' high school environment--basically disallows most of its characters from being able to declare/demonstrate explicit allegiance with LGBT identity. The idea that Konno Oyuki "hates" lesbians, though, is honestly so retarded it's ridiculous.

Hayate x Blade is yuri action and comedy. Licensed tho, and not on the Dynasty reader.

Marimite, Kannazuki no Miko are what I would consider great entry-level yuri series. Both are not exactly typical though (Marimite is Class S, Kannazuku no Miko is shounen). Also the more appropriate medium for getting into those two would probably be anime.

I haven't read Girlfriends yet, but Morinaga Milk is always good. Aside from her, the next "representative" yuri author I would think of is Morishima Akako--Hanjuku Joshi being the series I'd recommend, although it does eventually feature a fair degree of sex. I think if you want to show your friend stuff that most yuri probably looks like those two series (Girlfriends or Hanjuku Joshi) would be good introductions.

Download MangaMeeya and find zips then. Mangafox and Mangahere both ape other people's work without permission and make ad money off it. If you support them, you're supporting that.

Whatever, anyway I didn't think you guys would have a problem sinceTranquil Springs is one of the groups on the reader.[/quote]

Use batoto.net instead. It's an online manga reader/aggregator that is run by scanlators themselves.

I thought something was a bit off when the 4th chapter of Prism popped up on the reader done by another group. This is really a shock though. Well, you guys have lives to live so I guess I'll just have to accept this quietly. Your work has truly been appreciated though. Thank you for everything you've done.

Whoa, that came quickly. Still awesome. I thought the little kid was a boy.

Are both of the girls gonna be killed now? Also, I love the irony behind "I'll make you hate me by yuri raping you". Not that I condone rape, of course, but the illogicality and emotion behind that thought process is seriously rather cute.

Marriage Black is way too engrossing, y'know. The suspense makes waiting for the next chapter so hard...

Well, thanks for the other stuff too. Roche Limit was indeed cute with great art in particular.

Yay, that was awesome. Great troll with the credits page from chapter one, it was almost the same line. Also glad that there seem to be further chapters despite the resolution already achieved with this one. Will be looking forward to more. Thanks for the scans!

lol, been a long time since I read any Sasameki Koto, but you've already guessed it: Dynasty scans/translates the tankoubon version only. Scanned versions of some of the magazine chapters do exist out there, by other groups, so if you insist upon seeing that version you might be able to find it already translated. I don't think it's very likely that Dynasty is gonna purposely translate a magazine chapter on top of the tankoubon versions they've already done, though.
