It's a typical Japanese thing, as cockroaches seem to viewed as the most unclean thing ever. I think the only cockroach manga/anime I can think of where they're uncensored is Gokicha (moe cockroach) and Terraformers (gachi cockroach).

Now I'm just kinda imagining how censored the first Men in Black movie would be over there.

I think they didn't censored it in Arachnid either.

Regarding the use of "southern accents" in translations: Most of the time coming across those accents the translation is an instant drop for me. Reading this I can't help but imagine a big dumb "rednek" used for comic relief...

I have two, what you can call, "southern accents" (being bilingual by born sure it's nice), almost all my english it's autodidact and, even when this last chapter was a little hard at first, it went easy to understand in the end, but nice stereotypes where an accent means your intelligence and what you can do.
Oh, and it's redneck, with c. Feel free to learn something from a redneck.

Well, I have to say that the accent was hard at first, but how I'm an accent lover myself, I'll be glad if who just translated this make like a glossary, things like "oo need to be read like ou, aboot = about" and something like that. I have to say that I don't actually listening scottish accent ever, or at least I didn't recognize it.
I think that it's important for the character to have an accent because she change it if she feels secure, it would be some of her character missing if she hasn't.

I don't understand why people think Nanashi no Asterism ended with no one getting together. It's not explicitly said, but everything points to at least one yuri couple in the end.

That's why only side characters are actual couples.

Sometimes people doesn't understand how manga work. If it's comedy at first then they stick with it, don't turn it into romance or horror story.
