Just get married already, please and thank you.

Just picked up this Manga because of the new chapter. Some chapters are really confusing, but the characters are quite good. Weirdly enough, I can't bring myself to really love it though, even though I don't have any real complaints.
Maybe it's the feeling that there is something dark lurking underneath the MC's facade?

Yeah something has always seemed...oddly sinister here? It's really strange honestly haha

lmao didn't expect everyone in the comments to be so mad after reading this

Author troll level confirmed OVER 9000

That said, I'm amused at how people bitch so much about this.

You know how, when a story is gaining momentum and going well and then it suddenly ends, everyone complains bitterly that the series got the editorial AXE?

This is the opposite. It looks like the author was getting ready to reach the conclusion in this chapter or the next but the editor asked her to keep on truckin' (because the manga is popular and selling well) so she rewrote the plot: she made up some excuse to cancel the Mai/Asumi date and send Mai on a vacation for a month, and thus put the conclusion in indefinite hiatus -- as now Mai won't be able to come between Asumi and her hookers for the next several weeks!

Honestly, I thought everyone would be jumping up in joy... I mean, if a series this good is continuing instead of ending, isn't that a reason to celebrate?

But lo and behold: the forum is full of comments bitching and whining about it.

Dynasty Forum: the place where a manga author just can't win no matter what.

I'm not going to repeat myself anymore. I've stated my reasons very clearly numerous times. Trying to invalidate any criticism of the series by calling it "bitching and whining" is absurd.

This is no longer even a conversation, and defending one's views here would be way too exhausting. Have a nice day.

Exactly what Bitfarb said.

I'm at this point repeating myself a bit, but it's not that I want there to be less Yuri, I'm simply frustrated with how the author handled this chapter. The author could also have them meet up early and expand the story from there. Going past the initial starting goal into a new direction. As I've said before, I know series are often short and end when they reach the initial goal, but they also don't have to end. The author could easily have the meet up early and go from there.

Some of yall are taking this too seriously, It's funny chill. I'm sure there's a reason for it and they will meet later. I'd like to see her meet more girls before mai anyways

I don't think people being frustrated is taking it too seriously, it's a perfectly valid stance. Just like people that enjoyed this chapter are also valid.

I understand, but I think it still served the purpose of showing what Mai is up to and how she feels, and she had to be aware of Asumi's presence for that to happen. Of course, the way the rug got pulled from under the readers is an old dumb cliché, but it's the kind of dumb I expect from this series since its entire premise is. I'm not holding it to a high standard for writing.

I think there was probably a better way to convey those feelings however, and introduce Asumi's presence to her. Also sure there are clichés here and in pretty much every story out there, I don't mind clichés a lot of the time, especially if they're done well. I'm also not expecting a grand piece of art from this series, I still think this particular cliché is extremely frustrating and a good way to disappoint your audience. Sometimes old tricks should be retired.

I'd like that too but it's not usually how it goes in this kind of series so I'm not expecting it. It might have to take a bit of a weird turn to get there as well, the premise should be fulfilled once Asumi and Mai meet since Asumi started doing this brothel crawl specifically to find her. Either they start dating once they meet, in which case it would be strange for both of them to keep doing what they're currently doing, or they agree not to and Asumi still keeps hiring prostitutes because she likes it, but in both cases I'm not sure what new goal to work into it.

Yeah often series end when getting to the initial goal, but that's why I think if the author got to the goal quickly they could surprise us with a turn of events, and some new goal to work towards. I'm not sure what that goal would be either, but I think a talented author could surprise us with an interesting new goal that we might not expect.

I feel like the odd one out, but I didn't mind that their meeting got postponed. I enjoy the basic premise of this series and it's most likely going to wrap up once they meet, so I like that we're getting at least one more volume. It's also nice that Mai was introduced in the present some time before she actually meets Asumi so that it's easier to see what her deal is and care more about her. I get the frustration over the long wait between chapters, but I'm so used to that from many series I've followed that it doesn't really bother me.

There are more and more people with thinking like yours in the thread, so you're definitely not alone. I also follow series with long waits, and the wait doesn't bother me. What bothers me is building up to a specific situation, having a long wait in between, and then having that build up be entirely pointless. Their meeting could have gotten postponed for better reasons, or maybe not set up at this point in time and instead set up later, and various other ways to go about this.

Also I'd personally prefer it if the series got past the meet up, and found a new goal to work towards afterwards. The author could have the series go for a couple of volumes even after they meet up, explore how all the characters interact together, expand on the main pair and if they actually get together or not, side pairs, and so fourth. The art is nice, I just think the author could handle expectations and pacing better. Especially with this frustrating turn of events.

Eh I don't see why everyone's so angry, it was fairly predictable. If anything, it's been so long that I have no idea what the hell is the MC doing.

"It was fairly predictable."

That's exactly why, it was incredibly predictable. The author made the set up from the previous chapter completely pointless. So I think it's very understandable why we're angry right now haha

Haha really? I knew when I was reading it that most people would be as pissed as I am. The author did a super obvious stalling tactic, and after making their readers wait two months. Not even a good one either. Currently the entire set up of having them meet at this point in time was pointless, and it was pointless with a long wait between chapters. Having the character randomly get sick is such an uncreative and lame reason to drag out events.

The author basically looked at their readers and then flipped them off, and then proceeded to get trampled on by the mob in at least this comment section :P

Unpopular opinion: I still want Asumi to see more girls and gain more experience and maybe she will become the ultimate dom ever and take Mai off guard??

As Bitfarb said:

Fucking dammit. I do want to see her go with a few more girls before she finally finds Mai, but this cop-out still pisses me off.

Even for people that wanted to see her gain more experience, the author pulled a really lame cop-out.

~ (Jumping to a different comment)

I think Mai's a creep so I'm happy she got jebaited.

Regardless of what you think of Mai it was still poor writing on the author's part, and the audience got "jebaited" way harder than anybody in the series.

People thought for two months that the two major characters were finally going to meet. If you wanted them to not date after meeting, that'd be a fair take. However right now the author is simply stalling the story and not progressing events forward. So we're left with another frustrating waiting period.

This reminds me of the Maki-Maki duo from Virgins’ Empire, except more angsty and gay. Very nice.

Still waiting on Maki-Maki to get married.

Anyhow, thanks for the translation!

I'm incredibly frustrated that the author went for the incredibly predictable route of dragging this out. Of course we're probably going to have wait months for them too meet, and there was there was misunderstanding at the end "of maybe she cancelled because she realized it was me". So now we have that drama and heartache to clear up, ugh.

Just fuck.

I went from really looking forward to this series, to just being disappointed and pissed off.

Is it really that concerning to have a species that has rapist tendencies? I mean is just a fictional story, same should go to other stories with whole countries that have homicidal, savage and conquering tendencies but none of them have the same type of moral discussion about it.... i know rape is a delicate matter but cmon is not something that impressive

Btw the shopkeeper is horny :v

When it comes to a fictional story like this I'm not going to say the author can't write what they want, and I'm not saying people can't enjoy it. However I think a discussion about it is also good. Authors that make races geared towards rape is a very weird fantasy fetish thing.

Edit: I think there's some ongoing series about about an Orc that wants to find a bride, and he doesn't want to be like his usual "rapist kin" or something? Again very strange.

Suppressing someone's memories

With their consent.

It's a twist on consensual non-consent.

It's not a twist, it's pure nonsense. She consented to the memory suppression that made her forget about consenting, and made her specifically forget about consenting to the rape-roleplay. Meaning the act was no longer roleplay and was just rape. It would cause the same mental trauma that rape would, even with the recontextualization of the events when she regained her memories.

Are the pages out of order or is the story just terribly confusing

There's a flashback.

And I agree that the wiping of the memory definitely makes it rape, regardless of if her memories come back. It would be one thing if she was actively consenting to the roleplay but since her memories were wiped that’s still basically the same.

But Aya consented to the memory-suppression (not wipe) for a more realistic experience.

"A more realistic experience"...that just makes it rape. Suppressing someone's memories of when they consented to rape-roleplay and then raping them is rape. Rape roleplay is extremely dark to begin with, but the point is to have boundaries and knowledge that it's roleplay. Temporarily removing the knowledge of consent and then raping them is a bullshit excuse by the author.

It's very weird honestly. I think the gist that I can summarize, though I might be wrong, is that at least some of the demons like the woman who went to the brothel are futa, and are a species that "has no concept of rape" but also "are driven by a desire to rape", which is very bizarre for numerous reasons and contradictory.

The demonkind seem to have no concept of "rape" because, when they are among themselves, they don't see sexual assault as different from any other kind of assault, so they don't have an extra word for it. It looks like their society is extremely hierarchical, with a clear pecking order from the strongest to the weakest, driven by a congenital desire to dominate others and established either by beating them in combat or by literally fucking them over. And when they leave their homeland, that desire for physical and sexual domination gets projected onto other species, most of whom are physically weaker -- which is how they become notorious serial rapists, despite not knowing the term.

And if I may engage in some world-building speculation, this dog-eats-dog attitude of the demonkind may be a result of their community having faced a near extinction from an outside threat in the past (not hard to imagine why someone would try to exterminate them). Not justifying rape and murder here, just saying that extreme survival conditions are known to spawn very brutal social institutes that persist for generations down the line.

Going to also include what Corn said:

Yeah so I gave this story a shot but I think this is a pass from me. The concept of a customer of the week type story about a fantasy prostitute servicing different kinds of species sounds like a very cool idea, but I’m really turned off by the concept of one race of humanoids just inherently having a “rape culture” or whatever.

And I agree that the wiping of the memory definitely makes it rape, regardless of if her memories come back. It would be one thing if she was actively consenting to the roleplay but since her memories were wiped that’s still basically the same.

I’d love to see the topic tackled in a different way, where it was more focused on the physical/biological differences in the ways different species experience pleasure, and was much more clear about the consent and safety of the sex worker herself.

Yeah it feels like the author is trying to make the demons have a rape culture, and poorly excuse it by making them a brutal nearly extinct survival based society. In the same manner the author is trying to excuse rape by poorly introducing a memory wipe power. It's still rape and would have the same psychological damage. It's the same reason I have such a problem with Omegaverse media as well. Authors trying to excuse rape by saying, "oh there's a reason for it" and "it's totally not rape I swear", will always not sit well with me and it's extremely uncomfortable.

Interesting premise. Seems like it's gonna be a "customer of the day" prostitution story (but fantasy genre) where we see Aya grow up by meeting various customers. The main issue right now is there's way too much telling and not enough showing. The transition from the black page was really confusing and I think they coulda handled revealing the memory wipe better.

I'll see how it goes in future chapters though. Major props translating all that text.

Yeah the memory wipe was an unusual way to explain the money she found, but even weirder that it was used as a get out of jail free card attempt by the author since they went into a whole thing of it's not "actually" assault, because it was planned in advance and a memory wipe was part of the role-play!........I'm fucking certain that's still assault at the end of the day. It would cause a lot of trauma even with her restored memory contextualizing it. I wonder what legal trials and therapists in this universe are like.
