I'm kind of irrationally disappointed to learn that Nakatani Nio is male, but, oh well... I guess guys can write good yuri too. Such as Chatting at the Amber Teahouse and... well, this too.
Woah, would I love to read The Lily in the Rear Garden! I feel like that whole "lily" thing should've clued people in who were expecting het stuff, but I suppose that not EVERYTHING with the word "lily" in it is yuri. Like... well, I don't know of any stories with "lily" in the title other than yuri.

The thing that struck me as weird about the Salt/Mimi thing was that he said "your daughter" and not "our daughter" when he confronted Mimi. Yeah, I guess it's probably more that he doesn't consider Cocona to be his daughter considering all the other hints that support the fact that she is, but still would I love to see yuri science babies.
It's aa honest to goodness kiss... I think. I thought it was an honest to goodness kiss but I went back to check and saw that it was one of those "you've got cream on your cheek let me get that for ya" things. It was right next to her mouth, so I don't know... but sure looked like a mouth-to-mouth kiss to me. Goddammit, ambiguous framing! Still, even if they didn't actually kiss it's definitely not subtext. This anime doesn't skirt around their love like most do; nope, it makes it EXTREMELY CLEAR that they love each other as more than sisters. There's also the obligatory creepy stalker girl too who's definitely in love with Kana.
I never believed for a second it was just a cream removal move, Kana's head inclination to the right and the reaction was a huge giveaway, i just found out the other day that there's this cult preeching that it was on the cheek and was baffled by its existence Then again, it was on /v/, so... Y'know
Phew, looks like I was an idiot for doubting the generosity and good sense of... whatever studio made Candy Boy, I don't know. I don't see the point of such a cult since, I mean, even if they didn't kiss... that still doesn't erase, you know, EVERYTHING THAT TAKES PLACE IN THE ANIME which shows their deep love for one another (I'm presuming it's one of those "they're not actually lovers, they're just REALLY CLOSE sisters" cults, though I'm probably wrong).

It's trashy SoL comedysubtext..Let me guess, the kiss was on the cheek?

They're both technically 'forced', but at Nishima did it relatively slowly, didn't like, push her down or anything. It's more like she 'stole' a kiss, did it more playfully. And Kae's reaction afterwards wasn't straight up being traumatized and scared
That's definitely true, Shima's kiss was framed in a more playful manner. Kae was just super embarrassed and went all "it's a girl so it doesn't count!" after the kiss as opposed to her terrified (and justified) reaction to Nanashima's kiss... You know, what an episode that was, making me actually like the character I hated most then making me hate him even more... I heard the manga made his remorse more obvious, but, still, I find something like that to be completely inexcusable, even if he does have an "excuse."

Yeah that was it, Nanashima does kiss her, tho it was pretty gross and 'unconsciously' done. Arguably, Nishima does surprise-kiss her too, but idk, it felt more legit than his at least
I feel like Shima's kiss was more legit cause, you know, she was actually conscious while she was doing the kissin'. It's certainly true that Nanashima's kiss was a lot more disgusting compared to Shima's even though they were both pretty much forced kisses... though the atmosphere and all that stuff of the Nanashima kiss scene was definitely a lot more disturbing. And the fact that he's a guy, there's that too.
It's trashy SoL comedy subtext..
Trashy? Candy Boy's the opposite of trashy (to me, at least). I mean, I don't even remember any fanservice shots at all, and their relationship wasn't fetishized at all... granted, I haven't watched it in months so there probably were some. Still, it's definitely not subtext, especially considering they kiss at the end!

Fun fact: she's the only one that actually kissed the MC at this point, even if she did pass it off as a joke
I'm not up to date, but are you?
I don't think that's true anymore, anime-wise >_>
While I like this anime and all, it's kind of... forgettable, to be honest, especially compared to the other anime I'm watching right now (Flip Flappers). I watched Episode 10 yesterday and I don't really remember any other kisses... Spoilers for the 8th episode (I think at least) I think Nanashima might have kissed her during his sick dream thing, but I don't really remember. I wouldn't really count something like that as an actual kiss, but, yeah, I see your point. When did one of the dudes kiss her?
last edited at Dec 18, 2016 9:18PM
Uh, maybe I'm just an idiot but what the heck was Kai doing stretching her hand out like that for no reason? And why did she randomly start running when there were a bunch of people in front of her? Or was she tripping or something? I can't really tell what's going on in that panel...
And, yeah, I thought that the ending was way too rushed. I guess it's not too unreasonable to assume that Kai fell for Torii during her broken hand phase, but it still came out of nowhere... Definitely still interesting, but it would have been nice if it was a bit longer.

I think I dropped everything this season... Was fairly mediocre tbh.
Also, what ever happened to that actual lesbian in that reverse harem anime? I forgot what it was called.
Anyways, so glad next season is just around the corner tho, dragon yuri and KonoSuba ~
I believe you're talking about Nishina Shima from Kiss Him, Not Me (which I'm watching, by the way... it's pretty good, honestly). I'm pretty sure Shima is bisexual and not gay since she salivates over yaoi just as much as the MC (Kae) does (yep, salivates), but the point still stands that she's part of Kae's harem plus four dudes and it's very clear that she's in love with her. Right now, I'd say that all of the suitors have a fairly equal chance of getting the girl (yes, even Shima), but, let's face it, Shima's definitely not gonna win. Who knows though... apparently, everything the mangaka made before this was yaoi so maybe she'll throw a curveball and pair up all the guys with each other, leaving Kae for Shima! Yeah, that's a fever dream, so I'm hoping that Flip Flappers at least will have actual yuri in the end.
Fun fact: she's the only one that actually kissed the MC at this point, even if she did pass it off as a joke.

This was actually a pretty interesting series (or, at least, the free chapters were). I was worried about those two dudes who showed up in the beginning, but it looks like things are gonna end in a gay way for them too, so hopefully my worries are unfounded. Anyhow, it seems like a fairly generic "asshole deals with her troubled past and becomes less asshole-y due to the POWER OF LOVE," but, you know, I haven't really read many yuri series like this, so at least it's got that going for it. Definitely looking forward to becoming not poor so that I can buy the rest of the chapters! Thanks for introducing me to this thing!
What is that "Soft Spirits" thing that's on the Google Translated version of that page? I can't find anything going by that name, but it's probably a mistranslation since it's, you know, Google Translate.
It's the name of the site where Yuzumori-san is published. It's Yawaraka Supirittsu in Japanese.
Oh okay, thanks for the help! I'm a bit disappointed since it seems like it'd make a great name for a manga, but I suppose it being the name of a site doesn't necessarily preclude it from being the name of a manga in the future (some random mangaka, make it happen!)

I went in knowing that human doll transformation is a horror trope/fetish,
Is that really a freaking fetish? I thought I knew them all by this point, but... apparently not.
Well, I thought it'd be screwed up, but instead it was weird and confusing... okay, yeah, it was definitely pretty screwed up too. Interesting read for sure...
Nice to know that I can hopefully safely remove all the het stuff and all the unsavory stuff with the all-ages version. And 3D models, huh? I don't think I've ever seen a VN with 3D models before (granted, I don't read many), but I can't imagine that they'd look too good in any VN.
You know, for some reason, I thought this would be a VN with an actual decent story, but after looking at these CGs, well, I kinda have my doubts... you know what they say about assumptions though...

Nitroplus Blasterz: Heroines Infinite Duel is a 2D fighting game out now on steam if anyone cares. It has a lesbian playable character from one of Nitroplus' visual novels "Tokyo Necro" who is actually one of the two protagonists of that game.
How is Tokyo Necro anyway, anyone who's actually played it? I commend it for having an actual lesbian heroine, but how important is she anyway? I can find like basically no information about this VN anywhere, but it seems that she's sharing the spotlight with some dude, so is it an "alternate between characters every act" kinda thing or a "choose who you want to play as in the beginning" kinda thing? Also, apparently it has lots of fucked up stuff in it... so how fucked up is the fucked up stuff...? I mean, I won't exactly be surprised if it's super fucked up considering this is from the company that made Saya no Uta (that's pretty much their only VN that I know, but I'd say it's enough...), but, yeah, still.
The Last of Us 2 trailer has been announced.
Ellie is all grown up and looks badass. She is talking about some revenge.
Did someone kill her girlfriend?
I'm interested. Will they go canon lesbian way with her or change her to bisexual?
They never said she was a lesbian, so they wouldn't actually "change" it. I doubt the game will have any romance though.
Anyway, it's probably my favorite game on the PS3, so I'm hyped. There is a DLC where she is show to be lesbian and is flirting/kissing other girl. So for now she is canonically a lesbian.
Yeah, but they never said she's a lesbian, so she could be bi yet without "changing" anything.
I do believe she's a lesbian, though. There's a part in the main game where she looks a gay magazine with not interest at all. She even says she wanted to understand what's so interesting about that. That was a straight adult magzine -_-
Not to mention she even said with disappointing that were boys and dresses only concern for girls?
So yeah thats that.
Uh, no, it was a magazine for gay guys. I'm not really sure what you're saying in your second sentence, but I would agree with Wtv that it's still entirely possible that she's bisexual and not gay. Though ND didn't really give us much info about that so it can really go either way at this point. I suppose that it'd be the exact opposite of all that bi erasure stuff happening nowadays.

Well, disappointed to see that Twofold is apparently a harem (love triangle?) het VN. I'm not really sure who these two girls are since they don't seem to be on the Twofold character page... guess they aren't really important characters then. But still, ONE OF THE KATAWA SHOUJO WRITERS IS WRITING THE SCRIPT. THAT ALONE MADE ME SO HYPED FOR THIS THING. Who's writing it anyway? Although all the KS writers were great, some were better than others... Since it's a prequel spinoff, I can't imagine it'd be that long, but, well, who knows, maybe I'll be surprised.
You can also get Shadow Warrior Classic Redux for free if you do all the stuff on this page https://www.gog.com/my_promo_status and if the Twitch stream goals are met. Might be a bit too late now though since you're supposed to check in every day, but, eh, it's worth a try, right?
Also, so Neverwinter Nights has yuri mods, huh? I was already interested in the game... but now I'm even more interested!
It's not yuri. The anime has the faintest traces of subtext from a minor character, but that's it. In the manga there's been a gradual escalation of homoerotic subtext in the story, but nobody is actually a lesbian (yet?).
The cringe is still very much there and still the main draw of the series. If in the early chapters/episodes it was enough to put you off then you probably won't enjoy the rest of the manga or anime, as the spaghetti only intensifies from there.
Aww, that's a shame. Still, it has been more than a year since I tried it out... even though I didn't really like the comedy that much, it still had that special something that made it memorable. Maybe my taste in comedy changed since then, who knows.

Makes me think that Ucchi is discovering something.
So what I got from this is that... LGBT stuff is taught in school in JAPAN of all places (JAPAN? ARE YOU KIDDING ME?) but not America? Well, yeah, America is plagued by ultra-conservatives too, but I at least thought it was better in this respect than JAPAN (I would also like to take this opportunity to say "fuck you" to Korea cause, you know, I think I can say that as a Korean).
And, yeah, it probably isn't considering this is JAPAN we're talking about here, but I really do think that it'd be a great idea to teach this class. It'd be better in elementary than high school, but I guess something's better than nothing. Of course, this is never happening as long as idiots still walk this earth...

So WataMote is actual yuri now, huh? I stopped watching the anime after like 4 episodes since the cringe factor was just... not working for me, but maybe I'll give it a shot now. I mean, it's probably still gonna be a cringe comedy, but I'll bear with it for the yuri comedy aspect.
But then what is the role of nail clipper is in this whole thing? Hint up for future event? As a resistance for change in the two relationship as time progress? A hidden feeling that Corona has about her sexuality? I edged closer to the last interpretation, simply due to the music of that scene (funny/teasing music). As in "Hey, you need that nail clipper when you are alone with Papika. Don't cha? Don't cha?" kind of teasing (Instead of some foreshadowing or mood directing musics)
I remembered reading something about this in the reddit discussion thread so I looked it up and I got this neat tidbit from the ANN review.
Fingernails are still on Cocona's mind as a result of the change in Iroha (from a girl who "can't" wear nail polish to a girl who loves it) so Sadako-Papika uses her creepy charms to show Cocona the nail clippers she's hidden in her own mind. Of course, if Cocona isn't going to address the emotions behind imagining Papika in a negligee, she's definitely not going to think about an innocuous pair of clippers, but the audience (especially Jojo's fans) are bound to recognize their symbolism immediately. Fingernail clippers are a tool for trying to reverse a slow but unstoppable change. (They can also be used as a symbol for trust and intimacy just like ear-cleaning, but nobody actually clips their nails in this episode, so I guess we'll hold onto that for later.) Cocona has always been scared of moving forward in life, and now that she knows her future means holding back a floodgate of feelings for Papika, she's more desperate than ever to stop time from moving forward. Of course, she can't do this any more than she can stop her nails from growing, so what now?
Of course, there's also the sexuality angle as you mentioned... or perhaps the writers had both interpretations in mind. Or maybe they just threw in a nail clipper for no reason, who knows?
I don't get it. Is Maruta notorious for turning yuri stories into het?
Bisexuals exist, yo.
Haha, yeah. In their defense though, maybe they're talking about the relationship in the story and the ending more than anything else. (something like yuri relationship for most of it then having a het relationship in the end)
I haven't read any of Maruta's het works (and I don't plan to either!), but, based on the comments in that other full yuri work, I think this is pretty much what happens in all of Maruta's stuff. Everyone was surprised that Nadeshiko Hiyori turned out to be full yuri (especially with that weird Papa thing... glad that got taken care of without any problems), and I guess I was too because of all the bad things I heard...
Also, Fate/Extra, huh? I still need to get around to reading the Fate VNs one day... although I don't believe they were ever officially released in America? And, well, even if they were, I certainly wouldn't have the money to pay for it based on how much stuff like Grisaia and Nurse Love Addiction are! (and, yeah, sorry for talking about this here, I don't want to derail the thread either).
