No, that's not how we do it. You have to make your claims based directly on what is in the text, not on conjecture, not on what you think the author might mean based on context, and not based on one's own experiences or inferences. Generally, never try to claim authorial intent, and be sure not to make claims off personal insight into a character because you can't counter/discuss such claims without a common connection to the text at hand. You can dig that deep into the text, but it's good to understand that it isn't an analysis, it's an interpretation, and if you draw a conclusion like the self-defense measure claim then you need to back it up with specific panels from the story. Which you were totally doing for the first part and is exceedingly rare to see here. Then, my cornish son, will you be doing English reading. Not that I'm an English teacher anymore >_>

I thought it was something completely different. AFAICT everything here (apart from this) is actually First Person Perspective. Which is not to say there are no other examples of self-insertion on Dynasty - I've certainly seen it claimed a few times, though it's usually impossible to verify.

Second person point of view is what most of the tagged stories are. I believe the tag is for when the reader is directly present in the story, angling for that reader insert fic definition. Deciding if something is an author self-insert or an insert for the reader over the main character is probably a bit too subjective to actually apply the tag, but if we have works with totally featureless protagonists where the reader is supposed to stand in then please suggest the tag for them. The TVTropes article on second person is phenomenal btw and everyone should read it. Nay, you should read it.

And manga can use first person camera techniques (see the POV tag), but it's much more common for manga to portray first person with narrators using first person pronouns. Those often get loosey goosey pretty quick, but manga isn't exactly known for its literary prowess

Hang on a minute, if they're mock-battling each other, doesn't that mean our heroine loses either way? If she loses, she loses the bet and has to leave. If she wins, Lady Claire doesn't make the cut, whereas Rei DOES have to make the cut in order to win the bet. . . . wouldn't that mean they'd be separated?
Unless it's a round robin of some sort . . . I'm kind of assuming two rounds of fights, each eliminating half so that from 20 you go down to 5.

The terms for how someone makes the cut for the battle portion were never actually laid out, which is very tricky!

Regarding the magic system, this isn't your standard isekai so the magic system is secondary in the story. As such, it wasn't spelled out in detail in chapter one or early on. (spelling out the magic system via exposition is poor storytelling and a cheap shortcut anywho.) To add on to that, despite the author's intent through both arcs of IFTV to add clear and concrete rules to the system to make it a hard magic system, I think the magic system ends up being a soft magic system that can just adapt to the plot as needed.

With a language as different from English as Japanese, a lot of choices are up to the translator and context. It's actually not clear if the title means something along the lines of "You're the cutest in the world when you're filthy" or rather "You're at your cutest when you're filthy", so I'd translate it as "You're the cutest when you're filthy".
