^^She might be a little small, but Gura is the second shortest member of Hololive after Luna. She stands at 141 cm, which is 9 cm less than the second shortest of HoloEN (Amelia at 150 cm). Next is Ina at 157 cm, then Kiara and Calli tower over them all at 165 and 167 respectively. I'm not gonna turn all these into imperial units because I'm lazy and nobody should use those anyways.

Talking about all this makes me think that this picture looks a bit like a family spending christmas together. Ina and Amelia look like sisters (or maybe cousins) entertaining their little sis (or in Ame's case entertaining herself at her little sis' expense) while their parents watch them and/or ignore them and watch TV instead.

The earliest place I can see this ending is once we circle back around to the first page of the series. I'd be delighted if it went further, but it's possible that the intended ending is around there.

However, there's also the possibility that Canno is rushing things, but not to the ending of the manga. She may actually be choosing to speed up herself, to get past the eventual getting-together. As others have pointed out, there's more to explore beyond that point. In romance manga the endgame is generally the characters confessing. That's not necessarily true here. There aren't many (if any?) mainstream manga about poly relationships, so Canno has a rather unique chance to write that story now.

(Also, I made a mistake in my previous post and confused Canno and Nakatani Nio. In my defense "Bloom into You" and "A Kiss and a White Lily" are both flower related and thus exactly the same shut up I'm not stupid you're stupid. My point about being a well known, successful yuri mangaka stands though.)

edit: also, I looked up what publication this is in. why does it feel like every. single. yuri manga runs in a shonen magazine?

It's remarkable how hard it seems to be to find a pace that satisfies most people. There must be a sweet spot somewhere between "Is this getting axed?" and "Oh my god will you just kiss already?" but I certainly couldn't tell you where it is.

The only manga in recent memory that I think most people here praised for its pacing was Still Sick. But as I recall, part of that praise was due to it flouting many of the "time-wasting" tropes we've become so used to. (I don't mean to downplay that, it was brilliant and one of my favorite manga in years.)

I find myself wondering what goes on behind the scenes. The publisher undoubtedly has a huge influence, but at the same time, surely someone like Canno, who just finished a (presumably) highly successful serialization, must have a not insignificant amount of sway as well?

I did find ch. 9 a bit speedy, at least in comparison to the pace so far. It could be that pressure is being put on Canno to hurry things up, but at the same time it's possible that she intended it to be that way. I'm very interested in finding out what the next two or three chapters are like.

^My hope is that someday, someone will say "fuck it. let's just make them kiss."

...and then there will be arguments among fans saying "BUT WHAT IF IT WAS FRIENDSHIP SNOGGING?" because we can never leave well enough alone.

No one understands metaphors about horses either, these days. Every time I see "free reign", or, even worse, "reign it in" (what do they even think that means?), it makes me want to punch someone. Another one of my Pet Hates™ revealed...

On a marginally more serious note, it's not impossible that those could become acceptable variations if they're used commonly enough. Except maybe in France. France is weird.

^I never watched more than the first episode of Sunshine, but my understanding is the Riko x You vibes are dialed up in the second season? I could be misremembering what I read though.

My favorite part is actually the man in the bottom panel. That expression cracks me up.

Taking bets on which part of the triangle will make the first double connection. My money's on the Mayuki-Akira link giving us Mayuki<-->Akira-->Rin. Then Rin is like "are these my people?" and they all live happily ever after.

I think Miki only shows up once with any lines, in Lily's route if I'm not mistaken. (AKA the best route.) The only other times you see her are like... 2 CG's that she's in the background of. It's definitely not surprising that many people wouldn't know who she is.

Glasses are really versatile. First, you can have glasses-wearing girls take them off and suddenly become beautiful, or have girls wearing glasses flashing those cute grins, or have girls stealing the protagonist's glasses and putting them on like, "Haha, got your glasses!" That's just way too cute! Also, boys with glasses! I really like when their glasses have that suspicious looking gleam, and it's amazing how it can look really cool or just be a joke. I really like how it can fulfill all those abstract needs. Being able to switch up the styles and colors of glasses based on your mood is a lot of fun too! It's actually so much fun! You have those half rim glasses, or the thick frame glasses, everything! It's like you're enjoying all these kinds of glasses at a buffet. I really want Luna to try some on or Marine to try some on to replace her eyepatch. We really need glasses to become a thing in hololive and start selling them for HoloComi. Don't. You. Think. We. Really. Need. To. Officially. Give. Everyone. Glasses?
