Even an ignoramus like me, whose main exposure to Japanese cultural norms has been what in agrarian societies is also known as weebshit, is aware that how exactly people address each other is Kind Of A Big Deal over there and something of a thermometer as to their degree of intimacy/relative standing among other things. The matter comes up again and again in mango and teh chinese cartoons, particularly ones centered on relationships between people. (Which as an aside is why I invariably frown on translators/scanlators dropping honorifics "because muh localisation"; those carry quite meaningful social nuances and it's not all that unusual to see teams who do that scrambling for some kind of vaguely sensible alternative formulation should those suddenly become important in some fashion.)

And of course here we're talking about two confused teenagers trying to work out the nature of their very emotionally charged relationship (spoiler: it's gay af) while one of them wrestles with near lifelong colossal self-image issues and the other has a bit of a temperament...

Second: I thank you and others for educating me and others on the whole surname usage thingy in Japanese culture.
Third: About the dangerous forbidden techniques (DFTs) that BugDevil and you mentioned... Could using them be the answer to stopping Talinight? I mean, if the multiverse theory is correct, then the universe of AFOC (in which Talinight is) exists, and since he can travel between universes, he may come for us eventually, so maybe these DFTs could be helpful?

Wow, I just feel like Kou, Amane and Nene are all playing into Hayama's little game. Granted, Kou transferring in was unexpected, but seems like it worked in Hayama's favor and she only needed to make a few little adjustments to create a relationship shit storm between all of them.

That's a hilarious way to accurately describe most of this manga.

Sayaka is just respecting a worthy opponent after all, Yuu basically trounced her from day one. Her last minute confession was but a desperate hail mary whilst the opposing team is already up by 14 points with ten seconds to go.

Accurate enough as a summary of the outcome, but your metaphor reminds us that Touko’s original love epiphany about Yuu was that Yuu didn’t want anything from Touko.

“Everybody” wanted Touko to be perfect (or so Touko believed).
The parade of confessants, male and female, wanted Touko as a lover.
Sayaka wanted Touko as a friend (or so she led to Touko to believe).

The point is that, because she (silently) wanted something more from Touko that she was willing to give, Sayaka never had a chance—Yuu outplayed her by not playing the same game.

(That’s why there’s always been the slightest whiff of tsundere about the otherwise darling, doting Yuu—Touko could only be wooed by a total disavowal of courtship, and Yuu even convinced herself that the things she did for her senpai she “would have done the same for anybody.”)

While she did (for a time at least) convince herself that she "would do the same for anybody", she also simultaneously convinced herself that "anyone would do the same thing" as well (if I remember correctly from the last time I rewatched the anime, at least).
