The first chapter felt so cute, but this second chapter somehow made me really uncomfortable. Maybe it's the teacher in me, but there are lines being blurred here that feel weird, or at least have the potential to. For all I know, next chapter I'll feel like everything is fluffy again.

this feels like something that would be made by some weeb-turned-kreeb in the americas and posted to webtoons canvas before ultimately being picked up (except that would have a lot less polish)

It's common for K-Pop artists to release separate versions of their songs for the Japanese market, sometimes even fully original songs with no Korean version. In fact my impression a few years ago was that there were more songs by K-Pop artists with fully Japanese lyrics than fully English lyrics. With that in mind, I can't relate to the feeling that the concept of this work is the fantasy of an American.

It's also the case that there are plenty of scandals of idols in both Korea and Japan being found to have slept with fans (though usually they keep the gay ones out of the press and just focus on the straight ones), so this is also entirely possible. Especially for a retired Korean idol in Japan, very few people are gonna recognize her so she's much safer to go and party.

kpop manga on dynasty is a honeypot to find minors to ban

There are 20 and 30 year old kpop fans? 2nd and 3rd gen fans tend to be older.

Since I used to follow kpop a lot and I read a fair amount of manhwa I didn't even realize that "unnie" was a weird thing to show up till I got to the notes and was like "oh yeah, they say oneechan in Japanese", like my brain fully didn't recognize the incongruity.

Also, yeah, Haneul/Solar definitely felt kind of manipulative. There's no way that A) she didn't purposefully get herself to Natsuki's place by pretending she's more drunk than she is, although the throwing up threw me off, and B) she doesn't know Natsuki is a fan of hers.

Side ship really giving those visuals. The vibes are so good right now.

I think very few manga, yuri or otherwise, deal with catching feelings in a situationship and what to do when it's over. Like, they both caught feelings, but Nagi needed to end for both of them. I think that tracks really well.

The school trip will be fun! There will be so much gay in their room the other two won't know what to do with each other.

I don't relate to Rena, I don't get off on someone being as fucked up as me, but I would absolutely fall for Azu like Rena did.

Also, just noticed but her art has gotten a lot better compared to Run Away With Me, Girl. I remember the hands of the characters looking awkward before, but they look great here.

I out loud yelled at my screen "what a bitch" and had to stop reading like twice in this chapter. I love it so much.

Ch 70 I'm not really sure what anyone's arguing anymore. Is Youko specifically saying that in Class S, it can't exist without romance? Or just any senpai/kohai relationship can't exist without romance? Either statement seems really, really dumb.

Diana is like a shoujo protagonist to me in her perseverance, while Lapis and Natori are struggling with some Josei-like issues, and the contrast is making it hard for me to care about Diana when she's with Natori. Diana and Allie? Super cute. Diana and Natori? I'm like, girl she's got bigger problems to deal with than you, and you still can't get her name right, please no.

I'm probably going to get hated for this, but...

As much as I appreciate Mitsuki's character growth to becoming assertive and confident (and as much as Aya clearly appreciated that little move as well), Mitsuki is still showing facets of jealousy, control, and lack of trust. In real life, these things are huge red flags.

If someone had come up to Mitsuki and asked her about Western music, she would have gone into full "geek mode" and chatted them up non-stop; if said person had done that under the pretense of flirting with her, Mitsuki would not have noticed; she would have been ass-deep in gushing about Eric Clapton and George Harrison 0.38 seconds upon hearing the song playing on his phone. So, for her assume Aya couldn't deal with this shows a rather meaningful lack of trust, and maybe even a bit of projection.

And, considering the meaning of the song... Patti Boyd made her choice, and George Harrison respected it. Mitsuki would know that.

So yeah... I love this comic, I've loved it since the moment I first laid eyes on it, but I can't say I like this particular entry, and I hope it isn't the start of a dark path for Mitsuki.

I don't think you should get hated for this, but I agree with a lot of the replies. They're teenagers, a little insecurity is not unreasonable or a sign of future red flags.

On the other hand, I do also wonder how the Japan of it all factors into this. Controlling behavior is more common in Japanese culture where they don't want their partner to have opposite sex friends or to spend time alone with the opposite sex. I think this would also hold true for many people in Western countries, especially if they are older and married, but it's true for younger people in Japan (as far as I know). Mitsuki making it known here in public is in some ways helping the group know that it wouldn't be seen well socially for other people to hit on or confess to Aya.

The other part of it is that they're queer. Lesbian or sapphic relationships wouldn't be assumed by most students there. It would be hard for Ono to intuit that this wasn't an intense friendship without someone being explicit about it. So I think it is extra necessary, assuming Aya doesn't mind being outed, which considering that Aya's mom knows, I would think Aya doesn't care.

squeeee
I live for shit like this. It's funny cause Aya has definitely marked her territory before, but Mitsuki is the first to do so after they started dating.

Are they dating now and this manga will be kind of slice of life about their lives at college, or are they not dating yet and just in an intense hangout phase pre-relationship?

Personally, I liked the vibe of this manga more before this cosplay character showed up.

Politics! What fun!

Politics is always tough in these kind of fantasy stories. I find most of them just give a light hint at it and really, really fail to capitalize on it. Plus, there's enough plot without it so I'm not expecting much, but I did like that this feels like a natural way for our two cuties to confront their feelings for each other.

I feel like it's incorrect to call this "introversion", feels more like an anxiety and/or antisocial disorder

Yeah agreed. The summary also calls it such.

When she says "it turns me on" on page 8, is that really that explicit? Cause that language doesn't feel like part of the roleplay.

I can't read.

Weirdly, I think this discussion is making me like it more. Shino being ambiguously sadistic kind of makes this better for me.

lol, prequel to I Love You So Much, I Hate You with Saori

It's a prequel? I don't see any characters that overlap. Is it in the untranslated chapters?

Nvm I was looking at the wrong manga.

By creating a setting where identities are so heavily assigned, it ironically and cleverly opens up a secondary plane of identification beneath, one that is not avowed or declared like the opening of a resume- "I identity as XYZ, here are my pronouns, this is my flag", but one that is necessarily more elusive, strategic, provisional and metamorphic. The openness and clarity of queer labels and identity are, of course, a perfectly valid and valuable part of daily life, and one that has been attained through significant organization and agitation. But art is not and should not be life, and serves as a place to explore precisely those ways of speaking, thinking and being that are uncommon or mysterious in the range of daily affairs.

While I do think your comment was mostly about propping up Class S, the language and tone of it does feel dismissive of non-Class S work. These sentences in particular feel particularly heavy handed as far as elevating Class S by bringing down works that are more obvious about identity. It feels unnecessary to talk about how other works are worse to try to make this one be better.

Chapters like this is really confusing because it goes against the original plot of the story. Authors seem to always struggle with stories where video game characters become sentient. Why is Olivia given such a deep emotional background here when she is a video game character? Did her creator right this backstory? Do the players seem this in game? If not it doesn't make much sense.

I wish there was a manga where a video game character comes to life or a person goes into a video game that actually deals with the real implications of what that would mean. Like the MC trying to teach a character something beyond what their programming allows. Or the video game character having an existential crisis with coming to terms that their whole life is just a bunch of codes created by someone else. That would be far more interesting and more believable imo.

For example imagine if Machino's harem had to question if they like her or if they're programmed to like her, since they are just characters in a game. That their relationship with her isn't special and whoever plays the game would have the same relationship with them.

I would understand this if Machino was in the game proper, but the opening chapter has the characters literally jumping out of the game. If anything were to suggest that these characters are not bound by their game, it would be that.

Also, it's kind of a spoiler, but Not Your Typical Reincarnation Story has what you're looking for, but it's a novel, not a video game, and it's het.
