It seems the second princess, under her cold exterior, actually cares for her partner.

Does she? She's her ticket to becoming a queen, of course she is upset she's not resting :P I wouldn't read too much into that.

The writing absolutely is bad in this in my opinion, but I don't particularly care :P If you asked me about the details of what was even the point of the previous volume I would have a hard time to sum it up, because it really is just a bunch of contrived nonsense as you said - a curse, villain system, some kind of demon invasion, nonsensical time travel, I don't even remember how does it all tie together, and I'm not sure I ever got that "aha" moment that it all makes sense now because I'm pretty sure it doesn't :P

Plot coherence is definitely not the reason I enjoy this (also you could probably argue all day about what does it even mean that the writing is bad or good - to me this one just seems bad, and checking the checkbox that it "does what it's supposed to do" definitely isn't enough).

I will admit I didn't even consider the love rival angle, but it seems like half of this comment section pointed this out :P On the first read I interpreted that little surprise moment as just that - a surprise that Hina even entertained this idea, which if you know your friend for years and they never even display this level of introspection just makes sense to me to be surprised... but I dunno, I guess it is a romance manga so it's not particularly unlikely.

I don't dislike that whole magical competition thing, but the main storyline did seem to basically just halt in the meantime. I suppose it could be balanced a bit better. Although I'm not sure, maybe then it would feel like a disjointed volume, hopping between the competition thing and Lapis' evil plans.

Ayumu is a much more rational thinker than Minami and is also much more forward with her feelings.

I don't think the things she did so far were particularly rational, like assuming someone loves you after one compliment, or then insisting on repeating it every time you meet them afterwards :P This seems like Minami-style antics to me, even if Minami in the previous story wouldn't do exactly that because Yuzu was her childhood friend, not just some random senpai. So basically, circumstances are obviously different, but personalities seem similar, too similar not to discuss.

And Asuka is framed as an antagonist in this chapter, opposing Ayumu, which Hinori never did to Minami.

Again, I think it's the case of circumstances being different, Asuka seems to me like a concerned friend :P If someone introduced themselves like that to Yuzu/Minami, I think there would be a high chance Hinori would intervene like this too.

But otherwise, yeah, they are not "basically the same", I oversimplified this a bit in my first comment.

...I can't help but feel that so far the characters are just "Minami but interested in astronomy", "Yuzu but fixated on sports", and now "Hinori but in a music club" :P

Honestly, I think they're all pretty different... Ayumu is perhaps the most similar (to Yuzu though, not Minami), but even then she's a lot more proactive and self-assured than Yuzu.

Well, they are not identical obviously. But personalities seem pretty spot on to me, Ayumu is almost exactly like Minami - a bit goofy, prone to overthinking, she discovers this "love" thing and it makes her go nuts. And, as you say, proactive in general. Hina behaves pretty much like Yuzu did, at least in the first half of the story (before they basically retconned her :P) - calm, oblivious and just focused on her thing. And even Asuka seems to me like Hinori, who was supposed to be this "reasonable third party" and a friend.

The premise is different enough that I thing this story can work, I like it so far, I just have an observation that the characters seem all to be cut basically from the same cloth as before.

I dunno, it just makes zero sense to me. I can guarantee you people get more mad when the team they support loses what they perceive as a rigged competition, not when their team actually wins :P

... I'm not sure that rebellion plan as a result of a sports game outcome makes sense to me :P

Oh come on she should have actually punched the shit out of her, this series out of all in particular shouldn't have a problem with this lmao

That was a very nice, well thought out story, I enjoyed it a lot. No need to drag it out needlessly, I don't have a feeling it was cut short (especially since I think it was bimonthly?)

Knowing this author, this is going to be this one joke over and over for like 20 chapters until everyone's sick of it :P Looking forward more to comments under this one than the actual manga.

She literally spent that chapter fretting about finding a drink that will turn you human, and Naori just made a drink that made someone human, shouldn't that warrant at least exploring this a little? :P

Maybe this sex magic thing is the real reason why it's standard for the saint and the princess to get married

Maybe but they're apparently the only ones ever with the deficiency that one can't cast spells and the other doesn't have magic :P Or maybe their records just suck.

Y'all keep saying it's the boob grab. OBVIOUSLY it was the bite that set it off. The visceral emotion in that moment of action.

That's something to study further, I bet Miko will be very interested

I didn't understand anything.

Checked the group: WindyFall.

Oh... explains it all.

wait- why? what's that supposed to mean? I don't know anything about WindyFall

Their translations are really bad, simple as.

Well when she asked "why don't you tell her the truth" I didn't expect it to be tea related, is she gonna tell her the truth actually? :P

Look, it's not like I don't think Dwarves should be teachers or anything, but is there really no one on campus or in a nearby town who can tailor Brynn's clothes for her? I mean come on, its bordering on unprofessional here.

I'd joke about it being a fashion statement because Yuna clearly has size appropriate clothes to wear.
But honestly that would have to be it. Either pruposefully on Brynn's part or on the author's,

She also quite literally says in this chapter that "clothes do make a person"

So what's the deal with her then, does she secretly want to be the best, like no one ever was? :P
