I mean, I like all these songs, but it's just surreal to read a story where they're acting like this music unique, edgy, and mature, when here it's the most overplayed shit I've been hearing in stores, in movies, and on the radio my whole life.

Japan has never felt so foreign.

when i was in school, i was also one of very few girls in our city who liked rock, metal, punk, etc. the other girls mainly listened britney spears and other pop stuff. they might have heard one or another rock song, but not many girls dared to say out loud that they really liked this kind of music. even "p!nk" was too much rock for most girls...
today a little bit more girls listen to rock, but if you watch concert videos of rock concerts, the audience is still mostly male.

Where I live I don't even think it's necessarily a question of whether you "like" this type of music, it's just so culturally pervasive that everyone is familiar with it regardless of if they'd ever actually choose to listen to it. Boy or girl, when I was in school I think everyone was familiar with these songs. Something like Blur Song 2 has been in so many games, commercials, and movies that even if you've never heard the name Blur, you still know this song.

Though now that I think about it, I had a girlfriend in high school who'd never heard of Nirvana... So maybe it's just that the people I usually hung out with were the type who were more into alt rock.

This ending was really bizarre. It's pretty unclear why their solution worked at all.

When do you think the Pope will call for Hidesuke's canonization? He's performed at least two miracles already, and is clearly a deliverance of divine grace.

WAIT A MOMENT, did they have sex on chapter 6? O_o I wasn't sure, I just noticed the tag.

Don't worry it's not just you. I also feel like that wasn't even remotely clear and then got whiplashed by the sudden realization xD

What's fun is trying to figure out when Marika realizes they've had sex.

Also, finally started reading this and got sucked in enough to sneak ahead and finish reading Volume Two. Very cute ending, their confrontation in the bar is sweet and hilarious.

But also, I got way too distracted from the main story by goddamned Karen. Holy shit woman, keep your fucking pants on. Two 14 year-olds, at the same time!? And the author just throws that in as an aside and moves on? The manga should have a spinoff series: a plucky young journalist hears rumors about this lesbian porn actress running a bar where she lures in minors and seduces them. She goes to the vice squad, but the only one in the corrupt force who believes her is a jaded veteran just weeks from retirement. After many struggles and some fun banter, they finally catch their mark and put her away, thus saving yuri forever.

I agree with Blastaar. The cheating was one of the most important developments in the story. Before that point, Setsuko was deliberately vague about their relationship. Yukino was a very damaged person, suffering from a deep insecurity, which drove her to make an insensitive and perhaps even cruel decision. This forced them to confront each other, but more importantly, it forced them each to confront themselves. That's what I really liked about this story. The characters are very human: imperfect, insecure, damaged. They hurt each other, and they hurt themselves. But they both decided that what they had together was worth repairing, and ultimately they were able to openly deal with their issues as adults.

Fixed the chapter. Thanks for the heads up.

Also, in my defense "confectionary" is also a word, apparently? At least according to Merriam-Webster. But it just means "sweets" and not also the art and business of making sweets like "confectionery".

Your just projecting your own situation onto a fictional situation that's similar to yours but different.

Nanoha wants to study in Tokyo and potentially cohabit with Chidori.
There's no way there aren't any school available in Tokyo for her to apply to.
There's no way there aren't any schools that are good enough to study at in Tokyo for her to apply to.

She has the will to study in Tokyo, the means to study in Tokyo and schools are definitely available in Tokyo.

This is a no-brainer non-issue, there are no obstacles to them cohabiting while studying in Tokyo what so ever besides sheer stupidity or hubris. Every "reason" introduced for her to study elsewhere is nonsensical and therefor, forced, cheap drama.

I sort of agree with you, but I also remember being 18 and worrying so much about university applications and then picking a school. In retrospect all those concerns seem irrelevant and I'm sure I'd have been better off choosing a school based on wherever my friends went or whatever was closest instead of going to the "best" one I could. Still, at the time, it seemed like a momentous decision. To me, Nanoha's behavior reads as a very realistic portrayal of that time in a young person's life.

I see the author is going into their "angsty plot" phase. (I recognize this is cynical)

This was originally published 18 months ago. Anything else you've read by the author she wrote long after this. If anything, she's recently, and sadly (from my perspective) entered a "no plot" phase.

"Pineapple konnyaku?" Ewwww. Nanoha, what is wrong with you? XD Who picks a beverage that proudly advertises itself as "Thick!"?

I love the idea of drinking pineapple jello out of a juicebox. It's just so funny.

Small typo in chap 111:
"well... to time study" -> "well... time to study"

Thanks, should be fixed now.

Based on their individual reactions or lack thereof, only one seems to possibly know. We have two idiots questioning Nanoha about possibly confessing, and then we have the third coming up with a plan to lure them away and give our couple some time.

More and more I'm thinking that Kumako at least knows. But it looks like the others almost definitely don't.

Whenever I pick this up again I forget that it's kinda gotten more dark and anxious. Whenever I think about it I think of cute fun cat stories, but no it goes into a lot dark headspaces, and it always blindsides me

It feels kind of divided to me. There are a lot of signs that Yuna is a deeply troubled person, seemingly on the verge of a complete breakdown. But that storyline is interspersed among a bunch of silly slice of life stuff, so it constantly feels like it's building up to something that never arrives. I'm sure part of that feeling is just the slow release schedule, and some of the author's other works are also pretty slow paced. I bet reading Girlfriends month to month as it was released was incredibly frustrating.

I'm pretty sure we released all this 2 years ago, didn't realize it never got posted to Dynasty. The worst thing about this series was the baffling variety of extras, epilogues, and miscellaneous stuff that came out after it ended. The final volume had some extra chapters, the blu-ray releases of the anime included extra chapters, there were character polls in the magazine that lead to even more post-serialization releases, and just so much junk that it was impossible to keep track of it all. I think there are even more that we never translated.

That was a pretty good ending. I think the last chapter was very well executed, and quite impactful. Unfortunately, I have to wonder if it was a little rushed. When there's a plotline established in the second-to-last chapter that just ends with no resolution, then really makes you think the serialization might've been cut with very little notice. Maybe it was always meant to end like that, but it feels a little off.

Did that nurse up and die on her way back or what?

I'm guessing she knew what was going on between them and left to give them some space. I think she's a character in another Yorita Miyuki series, but I haven't read it so I don't know what her deal is.

it's finished?
owh,i really like them

I don't think so. This author just puts 'fin' at the end of each chapter.

Same thing happens for Her Kiss - Infectious Lust.

There's one more story in this series already out. I expect it to continue in the future as well, but the author is self-publishing this so it's not like there's a scheduled serialization or plan.

"The girl I like likes a man, so I'll fuck and marry him"

Edit: wait, this was in a Yuri anthology?!

You've got to wonder what the hell they were thinking. There was a seven month gap between issues 4 and 5, so maybe they already knew they were being cancelled and no one cared about the content at this point. I actually like this story, so I'm glad it exists, however it happened.

I believe this is the last untranslated story from "This Channel has Nobody but Us."

If this can be confirmed, I'll move it to the collection. The first few pages of the collection has a table of contents if anyone wants to check it out as I cannot read Japanese. The page counts don't line up, but that might just be a padding thing

Yes, this is listed in the table of contents of that collection. I wasn't aware of the collection when I uploaded this. The pages are different since this version is from the magazine release.

I wonder if the reason Fumi left is because of these two pages. How Yayo doesn't need to think about her future, bc all she needs is Fumi-chan.
I don't really understand much else of Fumi-chan, there's a lot that's intentionally left out. All I know is that she wanted Yayo to try again, that she buried everything that represents herself and disappeared, which eventually got Yayo to work towards her dream again.
I can't help but feel super sad though, it's like Fumi gave up herself and music entirely, and passed it on to Yayo.
My last question would be, was all of this done for the sake of helping Yayo move forward, or did something happen and it was just how Fumi wished to say her goodbyes.

I need a goddamn sequel (•̀^•́)ง

Note: aren't these the same characters? Is this part of that collection?

I didn't read this as Fumi sacrificing anything for Yayo's sake. Since she broke her bass and buried it, I think it's clear that Fumi is giving up on any dreams she might've had of being a musician. She probably had her own reasons for leaving, but she decided to give Yayo a bit of a push before she left. Whatever she's dealing with, she apparently thinks the problems are insurmountable, but she thinks Yayo might have a chance to succeed where she herself failed.

Unless Chidori's parents died over summer break, and presumably she would've mentioned something like that.

That would be pretty hardcore stoical even for Chidori.

That is an odd scene, though--that's the traditional "parents are dead" obon scene, with the young person and the caretaker elder at the grave. If the author just didn't feel like coming up with character designs for the parents, they could have still been indistinct figures in the background.

Or maybe author-san just lost the plot about the parents a little bit, like when Chidori was both wearing her school uniform and it was drying over the railing simultaneously.

EDIT: No, I'm totally wrong--Chidori's mom appears in a relatively extended sequence when Chidori is experiencing reality-re-entry after the fireworks kiss:

https://dynasty-scans.com/chapters/hana_ni_arashi_ch49#7

That next chapter can't get here soon enough . . .

I'm pretty sure that's her grandmother again. She has the same hair as in her other appearances (her wrinkles grow more or less intense depending on how hot it is). Plus, she's the one who calls her Chii-chan.

Excellent catch--"Your mom says she got a really sweet one."

Not that it helps us to suss out Chidori's mystery text, but that confirms that the parents do exist, and they're local (so no, "Chidori moves far away at her parents' insistence." Probably).

And the translation is fine; it was just easy to miss the implied existence of two characters who have never been seen on-panel.

While looking for this scene, the first chapter I checked was this one, which really freaked me out. The bottom panels show Nanoha with her family... while Chidori and her grandmother visit a gravestone. But no, it was a false alarm. Unless Chidori's parents died over summer break, and presumably she would've mentioned something like that.

Are we finally getting to the arashi part of the story?

The "arashi part of the story" is every time they're about to make out but then someone walks into the room, they smash their heads together, or Chidori is too hungry.

I just don't want the "previously unseen relative wants Chidori to live far away for her last year of high school" trope. Do we even know why only-child Chidori lives with her grandma? Are her parents alive and absent, or gone permanently?

You know, I always thought that Chidori's parents were around, just busy. So she naturally spends more time with her grandmother. I think there was a time when she got a ride somewhere and said it was one of her parents dropping her off while taking her grandmother to an appointment? But I don't remember her ever mentioning her mother or father specifically, or either of them even showing up. Now I'm going to have to go reread the whole damn thing again to check...

Edit: Okay, found something. Her mother and father both make brief appearances on this page. That exchange "Dear, do you want some watermelon?" "Sure" is between the grandmother and father, or possibly between the mother and father (I had to check the raws to make sure, since as you can see, I wasn't able to convey that very well in the translation).

It was cute, but... seriously what kind of shitty restaurant they are to run out of all ingredients at the same time XD? You shouldn't even run out of 1, but I'll give them that, but all of them XD?

I like how she takes Kurumi and Nika's order like normal but then says they're completely out of everything right after. Apparently when she left the kitchen to come over, the cooks told her, "By the way, we only have enough ingredients for one more order of the special, but that's it."
