This is gonna come out sounding like heresy, but even with the recent shadow of subtext I'm not sure if I want it to go full yuri, but.....but.....yuri....I feel so conflicted.

Romance is sometimes a shallow thing, and the characters in this story are so well developed its feels like no matter what relationship they end up with is going to be much more than a stereotypical romance.

Not to mention the MC becoming a proper antagonist

? Where

I guess it would depend a bit on how you think of an antagonist. She realizes that she's a curse and continues to carry out her agenda, which in the grand scheme of things cause the extinction of the human race. in a sexy roundabout way but still.

Not sure if I'm reading too much into this author but they sure love their satire on modern /contemporary fiction tropes, and I love me some Meta satire.

I remember a while ago they also put together a equally sexualized version of the "MOBA Highschool trope" (I say moba but it's like the whole highschool superpower + for some reason gladiator? i,e, IS, Magical Highschool, HS DXD,Asterisk War to name a few) going around a few years ago. I appreciate how much they make an effort to essentially summarize the entire trope in some 50+pages.

This time aside from the side commentary on yuri and it's fanbase, tropes and so forth it also plays on a slightly more recent trope, albeit personal bane of mine, Reincarnation. Without getting too much into why I'm biased towards the "genre" if you will, I really liked how they approached the subject here. The idea of coming into a world not as a individual but as a power, a force. A force that is the manifestation of their former psyche, and at the same time almost a prisoner to it. Additionally, the ending, although not entirely novel was pleasant and carried forwards the previous idea of which they although reincarnated, are ever more so prisoner to their former selves. Not to mention the MC becoming a proper antagonist to the world was a nice reversal.

or i'm just reading way too much into this.I just really like meta stuff. As for it being a mess, i don't necessarily agree, rushed maybe. it essentially shoved 50 episodes/200 chapters (generous estimate) of Isekai plot in 60 pages.

If you don't like it don't read it, go and read some weekly Korean manhwa shit and tell me about that art.. saburouta s art is one of the best out there whether you like it or not and before you judge the half done pages try and understand why this happened. Maybe she was sick, busy, maybe she was forced to deliver before finishing it.

If you lack the reading comprehension skills to coherently follow my full post, then don't attempt answering to it and consequently risking yourself looking like a fucking idiot, which hey, you just did!

Who the fuck even brought up Korean shit? What the hell even suggested to you I was into manhwa to begin with, where did that come from, the depths of your ass? That being said, I actually do dislike manwha, or at least, as far as I've been with it, I find it painfully underwhelming, just like your post in its entirety. "One of the best" ahaAHAHAHAAHA AHA Oh you were serious.

To everyone else, I guess it's what I said then, it's mostly about the character design.

chill mate

to be fair he was a bit hostile, but that was a bit over reacting.

I'm on the camp of thinking the arts good. I don't generally spend enough time on a page to critique art in a manga. Like a guy already said, as long as it doesn't interfere with the reading it's good enough. I really like clean lines and smart use of toners. the inking is well done in my opinion considering that i like sharper lines as well.

Even then, demeaning the guy for him to consider this art to be one of the best is uncalled for. It's by far the most subjective comment they made. For one there's no such thing as "one of the best", people can only mean "one of the best i've seen", how are you to even comment on that not to mention art itself is entirely subjective opinion. Who are you to tell someone that what they perceive as good isn't? People can find accidental paint splatters amazing.

All'n'all that was unwarranted, and this blurb was excessie

For a second I was as sad as everyone here, before the sense of reason hit me. Like sure it was sad, but there was no real reason to let any of what transpired happen. For a genius, how did she think breaking her hands was in any way a better solution than just asking? How did the fact that D.Va would still be put into service not cross her mind, she's not the only doctor capable of high end prosthetics.

Kazu, I respectfully disagree with most of your points. I fail to understand you point of view. I could make counter arguments to your points, but as i recall there was something about debating in forums being frowned upon so I'll leave it at that. Unless I get a go ahead, than in which case behold~~

I am surprised people liked Nagisa at all. She seems like kind of a passive agrressive gnat. Not to mention she nopes out of their relationship after one fight. Being outed and realizing your job is over are pretty mitigating circumstances for Misaki.

Oh well, perhaps Ayane will treat her better. Slight manipulativeness aside, they seem to be doing well 6 months in.

its like you didn't read my massive post at all.

Neither of the love interests were in the right. Nagisa is also to blame for mistrusting her lover and for giving up so quickly. Saying "I'm worried you might cheat on me" is disgusting. A baseless, passive-aggressive guilt tripping before the fact. Saying that to someone could only ever make them feel horrible. It was self-centered and undeserved.

Also note how quickly and easily Nagisa was willing to walk out and never look back instead of trying to understand Misaki's pain and calm her fears, empathizing with her in a terrible situation, let alone trying to get to the bottom of what really happened. She just washes her hands of it and leaves. It seems to me she was ever only concerned with her own position in the relationship, and never with Misaki's side of things.

In short, all the people saying they hope Nagisa finds someone else should think about whether they really want some other girl to face that kind of mistrust and self-absorption.

That's not to say I didn't find the story very entertaining, I did. Fairly nice artwork as well. Thank you, Yuri Project.

i disagree. Nagisa did have some mistrust, but she moved to resolve it, albeit poorly. She tried to address an issue. I found it preferable to letting it fester. The mistrust is arguably reasonable as well. I'm sure most people would feel some kind of unease if their significant other spends a lot of time with another person who happens to be very hands on.

I still stand that it was correct for Nagisa to bring this up, because now the problem is up for resolution. However Misaki doesn't, instead jump to the conclusion/ultimatum that Nagisa want her to stop her idol work, pushing her even further into Ayane. That said, I also remember reading stories where one partner get trapped in the loop of trying to fix a sinking relationship, where they get emotionally abused by the other, so I can see some truth here.

I'm really on the Nagisa train. I really liked the part where she just walked away. I'm pretty sure i took that whole scene differently than you did. To me, Misaki already showed that she refused to acknowledge this "mistrust" or move to resolve it instead being completely self-absorbed (instead of Nagisa) in her career (not saying that's wrong, some people do prioritize their career over their love life and i think that's fine). Then on Nagisa's attempt to console Misaki, Misaki made it very obvious that she was not desired. I know some prefer the drawn out, " but no I love you, please don't shut be out" speel, I just don't think Misaki deserved it. At no point did she show any desire to preserve this relationship, Nagisa on the other hand did actually try. POINT TWO: Under the circumstances, if Nagisa did stay and do the whole speel, it would only cause more problem for Misaki's career, considering she is the origin of said problem. Although it's not certain whether or not she actually knows of the incident. So by leaving Misaki alone, she shows that she DOES respect Misaki's decision to prioritize her career.

So no I don't think Nagisa just washed her hands and walked away. I'm not saying that you're wrong, but you should see if there are more interpretations to the story before deciding: "In short, all the people saying they hope Nagisa finds someone else should think about whether they really want some other girl to face that kind of mistrust and self-absorption."

I'm not sure if she does enjoy hurting her, nor would I say the other girl particularly likes being hurt either. What the crazy lady enjoys is that moment of mental agony of the other person, so if anything she is the sadist, but at the same time, its because that she feels that is the ultimate expression of love for her. All'n'all, fascinating. Small rabbit hole where you can dig however far you desire. Never seen this before even remotely.

Hold up, this is the person making the happy fluffy pseudo romance room mate series? That's, scary actually.

There was something a little off about this that made me wonder if it was really Mira, I think its the gradients. I don't think Mira usually employs gradients to this affect, preferring toners instead, or hand drawn. Lines also seem stronger and less whimsical. Maybe a switch in pen and inking as well.

All the drama aside, that last page killed me. That feeling when you break but it takes a long time before you feel the pain. That page describes that feeling so well. When you experience something so painful, but you can't even feel sad or angry or anything. You just go about your day/s, then one day you just feel really tired, and you start pulling excuses for yourself but that crack from what feels like eons ago shatters and you feel everything at once. Although when i think about it, it's almost preferable considering the alternative.

woop almost went into a depressing Segue.

Not at all. I was just replying to the comment I quoted saying Candy Boy was the closest to a completely platonic relationship between twins that I have seen.
They are twins, but they are very close. The one you mainly follow seems as though she wants more, but it never goes there. It's just a cute story between two close twins. It's nothing like this story. This was a decent story, but I love Candy Boy. I like relationships more than sex :)

closest to a completely platonic relationship

COMPLETELY PLATONIC RELATIONSHIP

PLATONIC

Aaaaalright, this made me do a double-take. I double checked and read Candy Boy again just to be absolutely sure, but there is absolutely no way that relationship is close to being "purely platonic". Like, in any sense of the word. At the very, very least, there's no angle from which I would find that final chapter to be close to being platonic either. None. At all.

well, comparatively. They said closest, and since everything else has them screwing each other's brain out before page 10, anything past one chapter is already making leaps and bounds.

I'm seem to be alone on this notion but I dislike Kotooka. If probed i could list a myriad of reasons, but in short every time i see a post about why they like her, i almost always disagree.

on the trail of unpopular opinions, i really like Washio. I generally agree with the decisions she makes.

Kotooka is like the embodiment of bad selfish, and Washio the good kind.

Not to derail the thread (anymore than they usually get derailed, anyways), but how was Zootopia? I've heard it was surprisingly good, but what do people think?

it was ok. The hype killed it for me, like any other movie. It was not a bad movie by a long shot, but it isn't "holy shit that's like the best thing I've ever watched" amazing.

Animated films recently, from what I've experience had had that happen. Starting from Frozen I think. People kept lashing, and i mean LASHING at me about how good it is (reason why I still haven't watched it, but good god Have i read truck load of fanfics on it. On paper, i'd be like around 70 full length novels..anyway). Then Big Hero six came out, and again....people keep lashing at me about how it's the greatest thing in cinematic history (exagerating a bit here, but really everyone i talked to sang it like gospel). Not too long after Inside Out came out, and guess what, NO THIS, THIS is the best movie ever. I did a quick look on reviews and sure enough it was ripping the internet up like a new religion. But wait there's more, if you call 1-800, oh wait.....right, then Zootopia came out. AFTER the massive furry fiasco, Which I'm ok with but would have rather done without, Everyone is telling how it's EVEN BETTER than inside out, surprise eh? (yes i'm Canadian). So by a complete off chance I'm at this restaurant they were offering discounted movie tickets for a nearby theatre, so me and my friend are like, 'eh, why not, what on? oh Zootopia? couldn't hurt eh?" (no I'm not just putting those in there, we actually said that), so we watched it. If you would be so kind to go all the way back up, you'll see what i thought.

wow....talk about derailing a thread eh?

Adult and College yuri are so much better than high school yuri, even though the protagonist is kinda naive for her age.

although in this particular case, it makes perfect sense.

Just a heads up, Vol 1 was slow but it gets better on Vol 2 :)

And then Vol 3 sets everything on fire.

Damn you Vol. 3 >^<

Knowing its not canon will continue to deter me, unless it isn't

What does she mean, "A boy?" She has boobs for goodness sake...

That happens more than you'd think.

As someone with boobs and short hair, I agree. Being called sir is very frequent.

Awww... sounds like de javu..

Same! I am mistaken for a boy so frequently... I hate it so much :<

Try being nearly 6 foot with short hair. I used to get called sir a lot (mostly by women) even though I am decidedly not ... um ... petite in the chest area. Now that I use a wheelchair, I get it all the time :/ especially at the VA (of course, they have an excuse there since 95% of their patients are men) Ah, the trials of exuding a butch air ...

"decidedly" great choice of word there. Wheelchair? VA? I'm missing something here.

IS IT PRIVILEGE CHECKING TIME? CAUSE I THINK ITS PRIVILEGE CHECKING TIME. Transmisogynist top lel. This is a Yuri Manga of all things, get outta here with your tumblrspeak you silly goose, you.

"Transmisogyny (sometimes trans-misogyny) is the intersection of transphobia and misogyny. It was coined by Julia Serano in her 2007 book Whipping Girl and used to describe the unique discrimination faced by trans women because of 'the assumption that femaleness and femininity are inferior to, and exist primarily for the benefit of, maleness and masculinity', and the way that transphobia intensifies the misogyny faced by trans women (and vice versa)."

Read a book it'll do you some good.

"Julia Serano states in Whipping Girl that 'When the majority of jokes made at the expense of trans people center on 'men wearing dresses' or 'men who want their penises cut off' that is not transphobia – it is transmisogyny. When the majority of violence and sexual assaults committed against trans people is directed at trans women, that is not transphobia – it is transmisogyny.'"

There were no jokes made, so first one's gone
The majority of violence and sexual assaults were committed against women.(plus the few rapist killed -male).

I'm sorry what was the point again?

I have seen yuri manga with plot like this about one billion times. And at this point i just click thru the pages with 'meh, boring' expression.

Really? A billion times, you say? Wow, I can only think of maybe three or four on the whole site where they do that "see you off with a smile" and actually do it.

Do we even have a billion manga?

Really, I feel sorry for authors who can't come up at least something original.

It must be hard for you, being such a discerning reader who can only enjoy completely original, never-before-attempted plots that blaze new ground with every page. There can't be much you can read without tossing it on the ground in disgust.

Here comes a needlessly long response.

I have read a lot of manga etc, etc, essentially I've seen my fair (and a hell lot more) of stories. Essentially i get really tipped off when people complain about originality. Humans have been writing stories before they could even literally write (verbal lore). So no, it's not original. If you dig long enough, someone most likely has already done it. So stop complaining about originality, it's practically impossible to be original. Also the whole perspective of originality is subjective. For someone who has never read manga or even exposed to yuri this is the most fly bat sh*t original graphic representation of a plot they have ever come across. Even the artist them self may think it's a original idea because THEY have not come across it. ALSO, the plot ISN'T that generic but that's for the next paragraph. Basically: STOP BLOODY COMPLAINING ABOUT ORIGINALITY. calm and thus, for me, what really counts to the enjoyment/entertainment value of a piece of literature is execution. If you can retell Little Red Riding Hood better than the last guy, I would still enjoy it,

For those who don't think this is original, please direct me to why you think so, because to me, it is (read above as to the subjectivity of the perspective of originality).

Now for some actually interesting stuff. Although i might be reading too much into it.
1. Hitomi promising herself that she would send off Ichiko with a smile.
2. The flower that was mentioned that bloomed in the spring, signaling Ichiko's departure.
3. Hitomi crushing the flower in spite of the impending spring.
4. Ichiko stating the resemblance of the flower to Hitomi.
5. Hitomi recites "it's better that she doesn't know about the flower i crushed", as opposed to the more expected "it's better that she doesn't know about my feelings".
6. Hitomi's hope that Ichiko will only remember her blessings.

1,6: Pretty generic stuff, but still got me. More of personal reasons.
1,4: Hitomi was "blooming" when she sent off Ichiko is where i found the resemblance, interesting semblance but another interesting point being that Hitomi's "blooming" was forced.
2,3,5 :Spring being an annotation of romance, maybe Hitomi is referencing her giving up her love instead the actual event.
5. If more literally taken, it's possible that she simply fears how Ichiko would respond since Ichiko said she like the flower.
5. If glanced over I think many would have just replaced the line with "It's better that she doesn't about my feelings" due to similarities with the cliche.
