On the bottom of page 27 Ishikawa mentions that he's working on the Kuttsukiboshi anime promotion? Is this gonna be made an actual anime instead of two episodes?

This came out 3 years after the first 2 OVAs, so it would seem he's trying to get new anime content done. Hopefully if he does get something new done there won't be any stupid het/cheating drama.

I saw that Kataribe Shoujo Honoka OVA back in the summer. Nobody translated it, and yes, the yuri really was lacking in that one. My Japanese was much worse than it is now so I understood next to nothing.

I've also thought up of a terrible bilingual pun for Hanayo: she is Captain A-mai-rice. 米 (mai) is Japanese for rice, and it's on her costume.

Ah Nanoha and Fate. Is there any other ship that ever was shipped in existence that is more universally accepted but not technically canon? I mean the way they are portrayed in official media and art and still not outright confirmed to be together is rather ridiculous. At this point word-of-god could come down proclaiming Nanoha marrying Yuuno in the end or something and it would be summarily dismissed by most of the fandom.

All that aside, this was a cute one :3

Well... at least it was amusing re-watching bits of Smile Precure to double-check the references.

The first episode of Smile Precure's called "誕生！笑顔まんてん、キュアハピ！！" or, in a very literal translation, "Birth! Full of Smiles, Cure Happy!!" But "Ehh!? I'm a Precure!?" is such a generic Precure episode name I'm surprised it hasn't been used as an actual Precure episode name before.

On page 14, Shinozaki's pose with her throwing her hand at the camera strongly resembles the pose of Midorikawa Onee-chan/Cure March.

Moe's, on the same page, resembles the pose of Akane Onee-chan/Cure Sunny, just with a wand stuck in her hand.

In hindsight I feel like I should've found someone draw the whole pearl metaphor deal earlier. It's so obvious and cliche, but still looks so great. "Clam diving".

Those pages with all the girl archetypes were absolutely glorious.

Ichiro is definitely a "hit everything" kind of player, but not a prolific home run hitter. He's all about that safe single, which this manga can probably twist into innuendo all the same. So the reference is close enough, I guess.

Hng, too perfect. The big shot at the end with Fate-chan smiling is like a follow-up to that last doujin

I think it's kinda obviously destined to be non-romantic yuri. Ayari is just figuring out what it's like to be able to be open and herself around others, and it's sweet that she's able to make those small steps with a sister that was sorta thrust upon her and so different. Bonding through food is the best. XD

First time I saw Ben Ten: I didn't know they were cousins. The longer I watched it the more I wondered if the creators knew they were cousins. I checked FF.net and no one cared that they were cousins.

Those fan fiction authors probably cared very much that they were cousins.

Just like how shippers reacted with to revelation that Ryuko and Satsuki from Kill la Kill are sisters. "EVEN BETTER!"

At first it looked like one of Kyouko's Mirakurun doujins from Yuru Yuri, then the "anti-magic" got dropped and I was reminded of Nanoha. I thought "NanoFate science babies would be a great idea!" but there's already Vivio.

I've known of Little White Butterflies for years and years and years, and I've seen some horrific shit from them. Once in a blue moon though, something vanilla, or almost vanilla, comes out of 'em, despite the fact that they've spun off Team Vanilla as a dedicated vanilla group/brand/whatever.

The last page too "Aren't you supposed to be a girl" that makes no sense is actually "You weren't a virgin, right?"

I remember this from Valkyrie Drive. Shoujo can mean virgin as well as girl, IIRC. Speaking of Valkyrie Drive, that blondie reminded me of Mirei, just with a polar opposite personality, of course.

Oh, and looking back, those uniforms hid their big breasts pretty damn well.

/ak/'s sub of the anime has the same issue. They could not decide whether or not to leave senshado senshado, or use the German term "panzerkraft". Nor could they decide to leave Onee-chan Onee-chan, or leave the -sama honorific in. No clue why they left tanoshii untranslated, but they fucked up in other ways besides that.
