Y'know, I can't quite figure out why, but the "NIKU" t-shirt seems to be suggesting something. Hmm...

Maybe it's her way of saying "I wonder what we're having for dinner tonight? I hope it's meat!" or something along those lines? I can't imagine what else it might be. Yes, that must be it. The only other explanation is that it's talking about her sizable chest, but that seems too subtle. No one would pick up on that sort of innuendo!

edit: what. how was the first chapter of this published in March of 2020? I thought for sure it started earlier than that. Was 2020 really that long? JFC what a normal goddamn year.

Can't say I know what mental illness was meant to be shown here. Maybe it's Scary Bad Person Syndrome? That well-known condition that people have been depicting for ages to profit on the ignorance of the masses? The one where people with mental illnesses are terrifying boogeymen? You know the one.

I'm sure the author didn't intend to suggest people like me are more likely to be unfaithful, but the implication was there. And that implication is everywhere.

It has become so deeply ingrained into the zeitgeist that every single time there's a tragedy like a mass shooting (why yes, I am American, how could you tell?) we're scapegoated to avoid dealing with the actual problems. With politicians saying we can solve the problem if we take better care of the mentally ill! And then promptly sweeping that idea under the rug and ignoring us til the next tragedy they drag us out for.

Sorry for getting rant-y. But it's something I'm so very, very weary of. I've legit seen people thinking bipolar disorder (what I have) is something that makes people wild and dangerous, rather than a very painful mood disorder I've been saddled with for my entire life. (Nobody on Dynasty, thankfully. But it's out there elsewhere, and all-too-common.)

edit: OK I just looked at the other works in this anthology and none of these have anything to do with the mentally ill beyond the notion of "they don't act like regular humans". Is this a difference in usage of terms between Japan and the west? Because these people aren't "mentally ill", they're "horror-movie insane".

The last Disgaea game I really got into was the DS re-release of the first one... but if 6 has a Switch version and that Hololive DLC comes to the west I might have to pick this one up.

So I was going through the Hololive Alternative PV with a fine-toothed comb, looking for details frame by frame, and I noticed one thing in particular. The cross-shaped structure that Sora is standing near in the final scene is also reflected in a window during Matsuri's scene. The rest of them have very little, if anything at all, to connect them, with a few exceptions:

Flare and Noel (and Coco :P) are in some sort of glacial area.

Ayame and Mio/Fubuki are in a setting with a traditional Japanese aesthetic.

And lastly the modern city locations in Sora's first scene, along with Matsuri's aforementioned scene and the Okayu/Korone one after it, and potentially Miko's, judging by the big screen behind her.

I can't find anything clearly linking Shion, Marine, Aqua, Choco, Kanata, Pekora, Fubuki's brief second appearance, or Roboco's, uh... eye.

Obviously none of this necessarily means anything other than "the animators liked it", since we don't even know exactly what this whole thing is going to amount to. My (tenuous) understanding is that this whole thing is more like an "idea" to be expanded upon by whoever they hire to do so, though, so I thought it might be fun to see what things could be used in some way or other.

Also Pekora's bunnies are floofy, which is pretty cute.

^Anything involving Ina is wholesome. Even yabai stuff. I think it must be some sort of eldritch enchantment or hex. Probably part of a plot to drain our sanity in her journey to conquer the world.

I think I must have failed a SAN check at some point...

edit: Also I crave casual clothing HoloPro, especially HoloMyth, so this is really quite a treat.

edit 2: I just noticed there's some sort of pentagram design on Ina's coat pocket, with what looks like an eye in the middle of it.

Manga artists always think they’re slick when they draw the “plain” character with glasses having no eyes, and then make a big deal about revealing their eyes when they take off the glasses acting like the glasses were what made them plain and not the literal lack of eyeballs

I regret I must inform you that there is not. "Volume 2" is just the collection of these last several chapters in book form. These scans are from the magazine publication (to be as caught up as possible with the official release).

This might be way too weirdly specific to have any answers, and more of a general recommendation than a yuri one, but does anyone know of something that parodies or examines/criticizes some aspect of anime and manga (E.G. a particular genre or trope, or the culture/industry)? Preferably something at least a little funny, but something serious is fine too, and it can be of any length.

I was trying to think of examples, but the only thing that came to mind that I could remember the name of was The Fourth Heroine. I also recall some other short things, like a parody of (het) harems where the protagonist was gay. Or that one comic about how main characters always have special hair colors, so a girl with pink hair is destined to be important even though she has no desire to be.

Frankly, any parody or satire of otaku culture would be fine. Could be idols instead of anime. Or gunpla, or gacha, or anything people get a bit too obsessed with.

I'm sorry I can't really be... less specific. But if anything comes to mind I'd be eternally grateful.

So I've been trying my hand at speedrunning Smol Ame on and off after coming back to it for the new level. (Pekoland!)

So far my PB on the first level is ~16.800. The current WR is 12.550 or thereabouts. so I'm a bit off of that lol. I'm not going for WR or anything though, just improving my PB. Seems there's a (nearly) frame perfect trick at the start I wasn't aware of that I'm not sure I want to bother learning anyway.

I might try Pekoland some more, it seems really fun and it's shorter than Red Heart (and as much as I'd love to run Red Heart for the music, it's just not a very interesting level after the first time through. The speedrun is pretty similar to the regular route as far as I can tell.)

Also considering doing some Bubba% runs. We'll see.

I think one of the earlier chapters of this manga had some advice on picking a good one when you go shopping. It can be easy to choose an overripe one if you're careless. You can also just watch some cooking videos on youtube and they'll probably give some tips on that.

Protip: if you're only using half of the avocado, leave the pit in the half you're saving, it will keep it fresh longer.

I know it feels like gen 1 is still new, but they debuted in September, and 7-8 months between generations is the norm(1). With how long it takes to go from recruitment to debut, nothing odd is happening here

Something I noticed about Ina's design today: You know the halo she sometimes has? It makes a face. Her head... flap... thingies are angry eyes, her tiara is like a frowning fanged mouth, and her hair gives the impression of Cthulu-like face-tentacles (both her regular hair and the squishy-lookin' things).
