C’mon, this is clearly a comedy. You can’t fool me with all this intermittent angst and moral dilemma nonsense.

Incredible sociological insight. Discussing LGBTQ identities in Japan (in my experience) has been exactly like this, and it’s incredibly validating to see each of the layers so clearly laid out. The subtle but suffocating heteronormativity that permeated all conversations used to make me feel like I was going slightly insane, like maybe it actually WAS rude of me to assert that I was not straight. And this manga is just crushing it. Quickly flying to the top of my favorites list.

This probably says a lot about me as a person, but I get exactly the same urge once I have strong feelings that I’m supposed to hide in order to be “socially sensitive” or “mature” or whatever. I’m like screw that, I want to make my problem everyone’s problem! No more sniveling and wondering about the right thing to do. Let’s get this out in the open and clear the air!!

Are there any villainess yuri stories where the villainess is actually fairly effed up? I mean someone like Fukiko Ichinomiya from Oniisama e. She was a seriously nasty person.

Maybe I’m weird for wanting it, but there’s nothing like the thrill of digging into the twisted psychology of a screwed up villainess. Most of these villainess stories are cute, but I abandon them ‘cuz they’re just tsunderes in fantasy settings. Not much real villainy.

This is pretty rare even in het villainess stories unfortunately. Only a few come to mind: The One Within the Villainess, Grail of Eris, and I Awoke as an Imprisoned Villainess. And while these do all feature two women as the leads, none of them are actually yuri (though The One Within the Villainess has some pretty strong sapphic subtext).
