I love the new art from Ssamba. (Still doing this tumblr view thing, ha-ha.)
...It is new, right? I can't tell when it was posted. I don't even know if I've linked the blog post property. :?

Wow, this thread moves really fast. -_-'
Yeah, I think that each week between updates, there's roughly 10 new pages of discussion generated, a.k.a. ~250 posts. It's pretty impressive!
About the call, yup, the ski trip (Friday through Sunday) overlaps with the Saturday date. So either Seol-a canceled or maybe she forgot about it (and stood someone up lol).
Anyways, I'm excited for the new chapter + impending awkwardness too. See you all on the flipside!
The activity this past week is not at all normal. We filled up about 12--honestly closer to 11--pages for chapter 63. (@NicLarkin started the ball rolling early that day, just clipping the end of page 214.)
We're at page 225 with 63 chapters. 5617 posts (exincluding this one).
~3.57 pages per chapter
~89.12 posts per chapter
Chapter 62 was just about average, starting at page 210.
Other times we had page dumps were after spats and the longest between-chapters page generator was probably the hiatus, last summer, after which the art thread was spawned, I believe.
Chapter 63 just generated a ton of excitement. heh
11 pages ~> 275 posts
1 chapter of 63 ~> 1.6% of what Ssamba's shared (ignoring specials)
275 of 5617 posts ~> 4.9% of posts in this thread
11 of 225 pages ~> 4.9% of pages of this thread
3x the average (assuming normal distribution of posts across all other chapters, which means that given the actual distribution this number of posts is slightly more than 3x the posts we usually have between chapters)

I think that the actress who played Sayuri was all right, especially with ...everything. Writing, plot, whatever, but most of all being across from... OMG. That tall chick had me holding in laughter the entire time. I'm like, "Why do you always look like you're about to cry? Do you do happy? Ever...?".
The world's still chipping away at the heteronormative majority view, so it still helps. Although I definitely had to cover my eyes and cringe often, I think the lead tried and I enjoyed a number of the interactions between the three girls, Sayuri and her two school mates.
I feel like it would be natural for Seol-a to confess. She just seems the type. So I think Seol-a confessing or no confession could both be natural.
I'm so looking forward to all the awkward. Haha.
I'm just posting 'cause tomorrow. And I'm excited. Whether folks are going to be squealing or raising pitch forks, it's going to be interesting. Ha-ha.
Carol is not a "fun" story. It's a story of will and significant for its earliness in lesbian-themed novels, which is the reason why I read it. If you can't put yourself in the context of the times, I'd imagine it's hard to appreciate.
Considering how nuanced the story is, I think it was an excellent transition to the screen. Carol's character borders on the edge of cruel and manipulative and Therese on the edge of having no backbone. For Therese, her character's maturation is near the end, and Carol's handling toward the very end (post road trip) can put off a lot of those who managed to sympathize with her position through that point of the journey.
I agree with @gugu09 that Carol comes across as more persistent in the movie, but I think the novel's Carol would be even more off-putting to movie goers. Likewise, I think the novel took more time to show Therese's wavering, which would've felt extra draggy to watch. The novel's pacing is pretty slow compared to what you'd expect out of a movie.
I intend to watch the move again (and maybe a few more times), but I'm satisfied with one reading of The Price of Salt. There are many other non-tragic lesbian endings to read these days. We've got FF, right. ( ^__^)
@takachi, lol it was merely for eyegarsm. She drew it beautifully.
If you've already seen the movie, I'd like to share with you quite a well written analysis of Carol, comparing both the movie and the book
http://www.theestablishment.co/2016/01/07/the-lesbian-gaze-of-carol/
EDIT: And yes, our Seolrae had plenty of gazes like that as well, which made me love them in the first place.
Nice link. Don't have time to read it now, but thanks for sharing.

So.. Ssamba said:I like to watch early movies by myself so I headed out the door at 8:30am. If I watch movies early, the movie tickets are half priced and there aren’t anyone in the theatre haha..
Doesn't it oddly sound familiar? lol
Yes, it does. I'd been planning to see the movie once I caught a whiff of it being in the making. (I'd read and appreciated the book.) Didn't really have any expectations for it until I learned the casting of the two leading ladies. Then, I had to see it. (So many searches to see when it was going to come to my city.) I too watched Carol, early admission, on (U.S.) New Year's day. And there were people snacking. Phones. Ugh! And a ton of people. But.
But
At the same time, Carol and Therese were so beautiful.
There is nothing to add or subtract, itself was plenty enough. I am regretting so much that I couldn’t focus watching so I was pondering whether I should stay to watch the later times but I just left.
Carol. I’ve enjoyed it. I wouldn’t say fun.. is a correct way to put it,, but it was good anyways.
It was really good.
All of that too.
I think I'll just buy it. And then watch it.
I think you can find pride and prejudice in everyone. I agree with and appreciate the past and present parallels, but I'm not sold on the other parallels people are drawing between Austen's characters and Ssamba's.
Yeah, that's what I was thinking
Besides, No-rae isn't really that prejudiced towards Seol-a
In fact, I'm pretty sure that one of the No-rae's main traits was her lack of prejudice towards people (her best friend in the beginning mentioned it), how she treats everyone the same regardless, how people just feel so comfortable around her (there was a reference to how some delinquent-looking girls tried to extort money from her, asking for bus fare money, and she just casually handed it over, asking them to keep the change, feeling concern for them)When No-rae sees Seol-a interact with guys, and react to it by leaving, I think it's just some kind of jealousy. A feeling of "Ah, I'd just be interrupting/get in the way. I might as well leave, it seems that she's forgotten about me." I don't know how to describe it, but I've done the same a few times, when suddenly you feel out of place, a third wheel, rejected, and you decide to just leave, or don't know if you should "intrude". It's a statement in a way; you leave, as much for your personal discomfort, but as well as pointing out how they more or less ignored you, if you were able to slip away without them noticing.
1) I forgot about the interaction with the delinquents. Thanks for the reminder.
2) I interpreted No-rae's leaving more as, "I don't need to be here" or "I'm just in the way", depending, and it's more an automatic reaction than feeling "ignored". On at least one of those occasions, Seol-a made (I'll be right there) eye contact with her while she was waiting. She just voluntarily removes herself from the equation (situation). That sort of behavior can certainly keep you out of drama and also out of relationships... >__>
No-rae's been calm and collected dealing with everything except when Seol-a's been hurt or almost hurt. She was (the level-headed one) able to walk Seol-a to the police after the near-rape. Took care of the would-be rail pervert. Reunited with Sung-pyo without making much of a face at all. She doesn't let things in, and part of maintaining that safety barrier so well involves not getting into stuff (or getting out of it).
I agree that sometimes she's done it after feeling like a "third wheel", but to me that's No-rae's attitude toward herself: "I'm the third wheel until proven otherwise". It's less a discomfort thing and more (subconsciously) "I'm not he important person here". She's quick to count herself out. (And, man, that was friggin' painful to read from a Seola-sympathetic perspective from chapter 27 through chapter 35.)
I guess No-rae showed some change in this respect in Chapter 47, but even there we see she noticed Seol-a wasn't happy with the guys' attention. (The hot drink did not go to waste for once!) I'd like to see No-rae put in a situation where some third person approaches (in a casual setting) and see that she acts like she belongs next to Seol-a, regardless.
@ieeheh (re :Ina) Ina, grew on me fairly quickly as well. I hope she'll be around in some capacity. Seol-a or No-rae one of them can get a job with her after graduating. It's a ways off, but I think that would pretty cool.
--Oh. I'm also really glad that Ina didn't end up being the one to point out their mutual feelings and that the two discovered this (we're all hoping) themselves.
P.S. I am way too excited about the upcoming chapter.
P.P.S. Chapter 63 has finally breach 4000 hearts! 47 and 48 are both over 6000. So the number to reach is 7000. (Cause I'm saying so.) ...and I need to re-read both of those chapters...after work. :(
I think you can find pride and prejudice in everyone. I agree with and appreciate the past and present parallels, but I'm not sold on the other parallels people are drawing between Austen's characters and Ssamba's. I don't think they've shown much prejudice toward one another. Seol-a's been the most prideful and prejudiced, generally, but not really at all with No-rae. We've read chapters wherein Seol-a is being a petulant daughter or sister with her fam. Then No-rae calls or she starts thinking of her and goes into "whipped" mode.
EDIT: The other thing about describing No-rae as the prejudiced is that I've interpreted her feelings as more inwardly focused, like self denial. So if anything, she's been self prejudiced. I think that Ssamba's a more instinctive writer. Some references are blatant, but even with the parallels I think they're just "natural". Might be part of how she consumes the world. Patterns are real, even in our perspectives and how we each describe our world, so I'm not arguing against the existence of lots of parallels. The hands are cold comparison: release versus grip is a gem (to me), intentional or not. So thanks for digging that up. Heh.
To me, Seol-a and No-rae just balance each other out. Seol-a is pretty pushy and self-confident and No-rae is really easy going. Seol-a done a lot of the pursuing throughout this story and it seems No-rae is finally meeting her in the middle. They just really care about each other.
What I loved about all of chapter 63 is seeing how comfortable they are with one another now. The first No-rae and Seol-a couch scene was so warm. Sharing the same space and take care of each other. Seol-a smoothing out No-rae's worried brow was a little thing, but it was a reciprocal action. There was an exchange of nurturing acts. This is a big change from Seol-a having to take a deep breath to grab No-rae's hand or tentatively put her head on No-rae's shoulder during sleepover.
No-rae making the first "move" was a big deal, but so was when she called a halt on the snowboarding. On previous occasions wherein her thoughts drifted that way she questioned herself (and didn't voice them), even in chapter 30 she calls herself "going overboard".--Omg. No-rae wrapping her arms protectively around drunk Seol-a.--Right. So, No-rae was still a little stressed over the snowboarding accident, but this was still an awesome display of growth. Unlike last chapter where I just found her acting like someone who cares about someone who nearly died should, it's finally clear she's present in the two-way relationship.
re: chapter 38
I re-watched that sequence so many times. I'm still thinking it was a wee bit more No-rae shrugging it off. And that the focal there was No-rae reaching out. To her, Seol-a. And Seol-a beginning to get a hint of how much that matters to her. That she could be the one there, for No-rae, and maybe she also though about or felt what it would mean to not have her in her life.
I don't like to read to much in what that action symbolizes for No-rae's side of things because she was in a friggin' accident. That's shocking. If anyone she knew or trusted were around... It's not like she's going to reach for the random nurse--or she might. Trauma. :?
P.S. On the subject of present and past parallels, since I'm still re-reading chapter 30, I also see that No-rae has had to carry Seol-a in the past. That makes the intro convo between Ina and Seol-a even more amusing. H-ah-aha-ha....

Ssamba, you clever girl!
Which chap is that from?
It would be cruel for something to NOT happen on Valentine's day. I mean, it's the day of the release--the release day lands on the holiday, exactly.
I believe it would actually be 2/15/2016 being Monday in Korea? But for us, yes.
Yeah, I though about it. Wasn't sure.
Can someone remind me at what time the chapters are usually posted? There's a date to the right of the chapter on the Comico page. I figured that was the time it was locked, but it's a nice "even" number...--Yeah. Not sure where my training of thought is going, but can someone remind about the times?
I assume Ssamba (or some proxy) posts or submits something to Comico and its either posted immediately or delayed 'til the release time and then there's either some fixed window (chapter is unlocked for x hours) or fixed lock time (chapter is unlocked until "lock time").
I think the chapters are updated at 11:00pm Sunday Korea time. So it should still be Valentine's day next week. I've sent Ssamba an email to harrass her about it haha (jk about the harrasing)
P.S. Is anyone else surprised/miffed that chapter 63 only has a little over 3,300 hearts right now?
Honestly I'm not surprised at all. I came from Asia, I know how exciting Lunar New Year is. Everyone is busy all the time for at least a week after New Year's Day. So a lot of readers must've missed it the day it got released, then it got locked again already.
Awww... Okay. Thanks for the info.
Every scene in chapter 63 is fulfilling in some way. (Still taking it all in on the umpteenth read.)
Another question. Has someone explained why No-rae was surprised at Seol-a's response (to her semi-joking invite to her home).
P.S. That editor's note "*DRUM ROLLS*" is kinda messed up, ha-ha.
P.P.S. I loooved Ssamba's Q&A. So cute. Thanks for adding that, @ieeheh, @halmoni. That was a cherry on top of the icing on the cake. Much appreciated.
EDIT: Didn't see @cipp's comment. It is indeed there. I wouldn't've seen/remembered it. So still extra happy happy and grateful over here. (^__^ )

Umm...
No-rae: ...I don't know what the hell came over me...
There are going to be pitch forks next week if No-rae somehow reasons to shove this moment into a closet.
But, as long as Seol-a recovers reasonable quickly from her embarrassment, I think such a crime can be avoided.
My second-to-final FF wish of the day has been answered. Thank you... (ಥ﹏ಥ)
All that's left is @thatanon and the typesetter bees. You guys are all awesome, by the way.
Thanks again, @halmoni. \o/ Reading time. ( ^__^)
I know... Ssamba/Seol-a gaze was slaying this chap.

the events of my evening todayNorae, you know what to do now! Act! ACT NOW! GO HUG AND KISS HER! Seola's so waiting for you!!!
Being serious. If No-rae had followed Seol-a over to the bed and it had cut out there...I...I would've--I would not be functional. At all. Right now.
...okay. You know. Maybe it's good that it stopped where it did. I'm already emotionally overloaded and failing at life. I managed to break out of it to get some groceries. But here I am. Again. __o_
you know, I was about to go take a bath.. and then the chapter happened... and now I'm scared of doing that, well, for reasons, hahaha *////*
KYAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!
SSAMBA I LOVE YOU!!! THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR YOUR EXISTENCE AND YOUR ART!!!!!!I'm on the same page lol
I woke up at 5am and it was not released. I went back to sleep and woke up again at 5:50am. I kept refreshing and I was the first one to gave it a "heart" on comico (*proudest moment being a fangirl*). I have never felt so awake in my entire life.
I've been glued to my bed, re-reading and fangirling in the past 4 hours. It's not even funny.

Also, hi.
HI. Welcome! \o/

P.S. The muscles for smiling in the back of my head are getting sore. h-ha-ha-ha...

Why isn't there any news about chapter 63 as a look elsewhere on the internet? I feel like it should be getting more attention. Ha-ha...
I'm so glad FF is released over the weekend. I'm so useless right now...

Crap! An hour has passed but still, i can't stop my self from grinning!!! What's happening to me? Is this a new disease or something. . . Maybe seolrae virus?? Or just an overdose of weekly ff intakes??
I'm already over 1.5hours in and already moved onto look at Tumblr for more feelings. I don't do Tumblr!
Hahah, because of FF I have started tumblr
I cannot contain my feelings I have to spread it everywhere hahaha
I noticed. I'm pretty sure yours was the second post I saw when I clicked the Google search result for "Fluttering Feelings tumblr". It's #3 now.
The list varies for folks, I think, but yeah. ha-ha-ha...
P.S. OK. I do have some self control. I'm going off into the real world right now. ha-ha. Going to check back later to see how many thread pages, Comico hearts, etc..

P.S. Love Jane Austen, especially Pride and Prejudice, but can't place a quote for my life. (== _ == )_
haha, well for me I don't know my Austen, but figured that there was a reason that part was randomly in English :P
I saw confirmation on Tumblr. Sunset scene and everything. >__>
