A spanish girl who runs a fb page (which I can't recall the name), exchanged mails with Taiyaki-san and interviewed her about why she wanted to draw yuri or something like that and Taiyaki herslef said that as a lesbian she wanted to draw yuri from her perspective.

I think they pretend for the bullying so as to not get caught, Japan is very homophobic and a lot of people seem to forget that just because Yuri is a genre in their media, but irl coming out won't go down as well as it does in these mangas/animes or like in places like Canada or the USA, I can speak from personal experience when it comes to homophobia in school at least.

That said, yeah, it is kind of dumb to go to such extents to not get caught, they can simply completely ignore each other or keep it as friends for show, couple in private, but I'm guessing the author simply wanted to explore a theme like this, it's not like it doesn't happen, a friend of mine and his bf from HS pretended to completely hate each other, but in reality they were going out, they were simply afraid of getting outed, no one ever suspected a thing thanks to it until they got to college at least, if they ever got caught I'm sure they both would had been bullied relentlessly, specially bc one of them was the captain of our football team and the other was in the basketball club, teenagers can be really cruel and gay people getting beat up in the locker rooms was pretty common.

At least it is getting better and I hope Japan gets better as well, their LGBT movement is getting more attention for sure.

People react negatively all the time where I live, I actually even had an old dude come up to me and my date and tell us off while making sexual comments, the goddamn gross bigot. This hits close to home, I prefer cheery stories where being homosexual is not even seen as something abnormal, but these more "negative" ones are a good reminder of what society really is like around the world.

She hasn't changed much in this either tho, the reason why she's so nasty and pretty much a bitch is because she is very judgemental of people and makes fun of them behind their backs, basically fake and a two faced a-hole. It would be ideal if she matured a bit and stopped being like that.

The fact that they're trying so damn hard to make him like dudes (crossdressing or not) and make him feel bad for not liking them made me really uncomfortable, growing in a greatly homophobic environment reminded me of that bigotry, because people would always be like "But what if those girls are actually boys!? See? You're straight!" "Those butchy lesbians look like dudes, so you must like men afterall".

I can't help but feel like if the crossdressers were actually women crossdressing as dudes and the MC was a gay man who was attracted to one of them only for it to turn out to be a woman, who would constantly mock* him and remind him he fell in love with her and that he should feel bad for not romantically liking women in drag, it would be called really homophobic.

I REALLY hope that Ushiwaka realizes he actually likes dudes on his OWN terms, rather than the other characters constantly pushing him towards it and making him feel bad for not liking them romantically. It just feels bad, hopefully he realizes it on his own otherwise I'm gonna have to drop it if it turns out he really does end up accepting his feelings and liking him just because everyone is trying to manipulate him into it, like IE; he analyzes his own feelings and why he carries his pendant and getting his own conclusions, rather than it being on the lines of "oh shit, everyone is telling me that not liking men is wrong, so maybe something really is wrong with me?"

Oh gosh, if only one of these existed in my area, even lesbian bars and parties allow (gay) guys to get in, but a lot try to pretend they are gay so that they can invade our space and make creepy comments or leer at us.

If one of these existed where even the server is a girl, it would be lesbian paradise lmao.
