I certainly agree that Yuri should spread out across all genres. Even better if it's not the focus, because that means it will be normalized to the point where it doesn't have to carry a story, but is still something nobody raises a brow at. When Yuri isn't the goal. but just a component, that is the moment you know it's entered the mainstream.

No there is no other yuri than betwen those two. But additionally to Ymir getting killed off, Historia also gets a man forced on her (more or less) and preggars. That's probably what Hoot is refering to.

@Hollows This manga here is sadly not just light-hearted fluff. So if it's the actual ending (not a doujin) I do not think a harem ending for "It's not my fault I'm not popular" makes sense. I value the canon of a story above even my own preferences or desires. So to me douijins/fanfics that stay within the realm of possibility of the original work are better. This is simply not the case with harem ends. But I respect your preference too, so let's leave it at that.

I can't believe there is only 1 episode left. To think that a short anime with 15 minute episodes that is 99% subtext could somehow be the best yuri of the year (for now lol). I am not delusional enough to believe in a kiss or confession in the final episode, but probably a sleepover and cuddling in bed.

This is the kind of hardcore subtext with lewd handholding that doesn't need a confirmation. Only a blind deaf comatose person wouldn't be able to understand that these two love each other romantically. Anne & Grea contenders for best couple 2019?

Sorry if my words somehow evoked those memories. I would never equate homosexuality to polyamory or harems. Harems just don't work on the personal level, society left aside.
The most I can see feasible are OT3s. Polyamory between three people. And even then only if every partner likes everyone in the triangle, which is already super rare. Poly is always such a painfully tedious balance act.

That's great, if you like to ignore what's actually going on for the idea of "shared love" then that's your right. It goes against the characters you like though. It goes against their dynamic, personalities and doesn't work once we actually think about their future instead of a still image of their current situation. What do they do after they graduate? What do they do once they get jobs and how does that affect an already terribly unstable harem? There is a 100% guarantee that some would grow apart or would seriously get angry with being treated as the "3rd or 4th" member. Suddenly there is favoritism and division of alone time. Factions form etc. Harems. Suck.

If those manga you mention have established that all these people are fine in their roles or that its the kind of crazy universe where this could actually work, fine. But "It's not my fault I'm not popular" is realistic to the point of cringe. It doesnt suit such a mad fantasy.

If you truly love a person, don't treat them like a set. Don't have six concubines in reserve. Tomoko clearly does not even show romantic interest in most of these girls. She is just doing her sexual harrassment thing. Why put this burden on her just so that the other girls don't feel a small pain for a short time (rejection)? Being a harem protagonist is probably the worst curse you can wish on someone.

Because I actually care about the characters. Harems are unstable, toxic and can't last. Additionally most of these girls are the type that doesn't want to share (which is completely normal and legitimate mind you). A harem, especially with this many members, means Tomoko has to divide attention and affection far too much, which leads back to the toxicity and envy route. Harems are simply not an option when all partners are supposed to be equal. It only works in some Sultan's harem of concubines, because they are basically commodities and have no rights.
In short: Rather one painful disappointment than a long stretch of pain.

Honestly, I hate being this negative, but this is just bad writing. There was absolutely no foreshadowing about this, Kano just randomly thought 'oh right I've always been worried about my dad by the way' in the middle of figurative nowhere, and surprise he appears in the next chapter.

To be unecessarily fair, they did talk about Kano's past a few times in the early chapters and how her parents always left her alone, which is the reason she mostly hung out with Miyuu. And that she is rich. And that she has high expectations put on her, but she would rather draw manga.

So it was more or less set up, not that it makes it less cliche.
