Just so we're clear, how long ago was Chapter 2 first published? Was it before the coronavirus?

Three Houses. These two are from the Ashen Wolves, a house exclusive to the DLC.

While it was nice to learn a little more about Kaoru's mother's death, I'm still curious as to why Uta's mother lost her medical license. Her conversation with Kaoru suggests that she'd made some sort of mistake that resulted in Kaoru's mother's death, possibly out of recklessness (considering her cavalier attitude toward performing an unlicensed medical exam on her daughter-in-law), but maybe that's just my imagination.

Just a piece of advice Shimizu-san. If you planning on spending the rest of your life, with someone, you might want to start calling her by her given name.
While I know Japan is a different culture, I still can't get my head around calling someone you're dating by their family name, especially if you get to the point you're sleeping with them. It just feels just so damn impersonal.

She did call her "Akane-san" when speaking to her father, although from what I've heard, it's generally expected to use first names+san on someone if you're talking about them with their family.

Other than that, I'll second your point about the first names. It's true that in Japan, first names are generally reserved for people who are close (although how readily people make the jump to a first-name basis depends on the series; in some series, characters might even get onto a first-name basis with people they've just met), but one would think Shimizu and Maekawa would be close enough by now.

Where is chapter 22?

It's up now.

Personally, I'd like to see the chapters that the anime hasn't adapted yet, but it's always nice to see new scanlated chapters, particularly the ones that show how the manga is different from the anime.

We're now up to the penultimate episode, and something's bugging me. How did Ao fail the screening exam for the Shining Star Challenge, while Mira passed? It seems as though it should be the other way around.

I assume Ao was very formal and showed little passion, whereas Mira probably showed a lot of passion as well as knowledge, she is hardly any less knowledgeable then Ao at this point. Ao was accepted to observe once she showed how passionate she was, by gate crashing.

That's certainly possible.

Now that the first season of the anime is over (without spoiling anything, it isn't anything resembling a conclusion to the story) I have to ask- how many chapters have currently been released? I've heard that there's at least 33 chapters out, and I know that there's a lot that hasn't been scanlated yet, but I'd like to be sure.

Incidentally, I wonder if there'll be a second season, since Chikage and Nana were introduced fairly late in the series. It helps that there's still another year and a half before Ao and Mira graduate from high school, so there's probably a fair amount of material that can be covered (even if Episodes 9 and 10 sped through January through July).

Ahh, I really had hopes for this series. Cute and had good progression. Alas, it seems to be abandoned now and no sign of anyone else picking it up.

At least we've got New Game, which treads similar ground.

I agree. Not only is Honoka similar in some ways to Aoba, Takumi reminds me a little of Umiko, being a brutally honest employee who often carries a model gun. Mari, like Rin, also mistakes their new hire for a child that doesn't belong there.

I personally didn't mind the part mentioning in passing that Erisa had dated multiple girls since Mariya had last seen her. It shows that Erisa has changed, but that in the end, she had a special bond with Mariya that she couldn't get with any of the other girls she went out with.

For a moment, the page numbers were out of order. After Page 1, they went to 10-19 before going to 2, at which point they went to 20-29 before going to 3, and so on and so forth. Luckily, it seems to be fixed now.

As for the manga, it seems like an interesting start, even if it has a similar "Novice becomes friends with a veteran" premise as Laid Back Camp. I'm looking forward to seeing where it goes from here.

Incidentally, this seems to be the first time I've made the first comment for a manga series on this site.

I read the chapter, and it wasn't nearly as confusing as I'd feared. It has two separate but related plotlines and effectively brings the arc to a conclusion. I'm looking forward to seeing where things go from here.

Do we find out what happened after Valentines to Suzu? Also, is she the only gay character or will Ao and Mira get together as well?

There's three episodes to go in the anime, so the answers are "Most likely," and "Possibly the latter."

Page 150:
Mizuno: Wait, don't shoot!
Dahlia: I thought you said no holding back?
Mizuno: Oh, come on! Just hear me out!

Page 157:
Dahlia: I thought we were done playing around, Mizuno!
Mizuno: And I thought I said "no holding back." I told you, Dahlia! There are no rules.

Mizuno's quite a hypocrite and a coward. At least he has the decency not to beg for his life a second time.

How far off is that in terms of chapters? There seems to be a fair amount of material in the manga that's been published but hasn't been scanlated yet, since Episode 7 shows Inose trying to get adjusted to being president after Morino and Sakurai step down, and hosting an astrology event with some young children. Ao ends up getting a cold after watching some stars at night, resulting in Mira becoming worried about her. Since that episode seems to take place in the late fall, as it's getting colder, it isn't implausible for the anime to get that far by the end.

The anime just adapted the valentine chapter, so it isn't so far.

I also saw that episode. I'm personally a bit surprised that Monroe and Sakura graduated and Ao moved in with Mira in Episode 9 out of 12, since that sort of thing seems like it would be more likely to happen at the end of the season.

I'm disappointed by the rushed ending, but it's nice to see the chief start to call Serina by her first name.

I also would have wanted to see more interaction between the sisters apart from the first chapter and Serina going out shopping with Ryou. It might have been nice to see how they get along as sisters with a fairly wide age gap (the eldest two sisters are working adults, while the youngest two are in school) and hear their thoughts on each other's love lives.

Look, there's just one more confusing mess of a chapter to go before things start getting back to normal and we can all stop complaining.

I'm looking forward to the chapter after the next one. Of course, it's worth noting that A)some of the posters were talking about something the incident with Naru that happened late in the second season/the Peco arc, and B)the problem seems to be with said posters attitudes, given their rather condescending replies to my post.

It's nice to see Miho in middle school, a period that isn't so much as hinted at in canon, so we have no real idea what happened between Little Army and when Miho arrived at Kuromorimine.

Actually the first half of the manga Erika's Phase take place in middle school and Miho is featured heavily in that.

Ah, I stand corrected. I personally haven't really kept up much with the post der Film canon, since my interest in GuP isn't what it used to be.

Of course, Miho and Erika hardly seemed like how I imagined them.Miho never struck me as the tomboy type, nor the kind who'd be so familiar with Erika. As for Erika, my personal headcanon was that she might have been willing to accept that Miho was a better choice for Maho's second in command, at least before Miho saved the tank and cost them the match.

Then again, part of the appeal for Erika/Miho seems to be the "cracky" nature of the ship. The first Erika/Miho fic I saw was "Girls und Panzer: Hope Dies," in which their being in a relationship is a major surprise. In that fic, Erika says she initially hated Miho for costing Kuromorimine the victory, but eventually forgave her, and they eventually started a secret romantic relationship. Of course, that's not nearly as unbelievable as Yukari murdering Miho for rejecting her love confession in that same fic.

Has Hotaru landed herself a French waifu?

Maybe, but I doubt that her would be sisters-in-law, Christina and Catherine, would be at all happy about it.

By the way, it's astounding how large the age gaps between siblings can be in this series. Not only is Yun 21 while her twin siblings are 5-6 at the start of the story, but Christina and Catherine are at least in their late twenties or early thirties, while their little sister Sophie is in grade school (probably why Ko assumed she's Catherine's daughter). For reference, I'm two years older than my younger brother, and I grew up thinking such relatively narrow age gaps between siblings were more common.

I love how there are still dumb arguments here about trying to justify plot holes in an industry story written by a guy who has basically run out of experience.

It's still better than people who contemptuously dismiss people discussing the story as a few people here have done. One example is the person at the top of the page who claims that Tsubame, an "experienced programmer,"(in actuality, a talented newbie who's more experienced than Nene but less experienced than Umiko) "forgot" to test her code- more accurately, she did a half-hearted job, partly due to overconfidence-fueled carelessness and partly due to rushing. In that case, if she was convinced she wouldn't make a mistake and had a single-minded focus on getting done ASAP, it's only natural that she'd prioritize speed over quality.

To get things in a more positive direction, I personally liked this chapter, as it has a nice discussion of what it means to draw for someone else's approval, and shows that Catherine's other employees haven't given up on designing the King's Hand enemy just yet.

Well, it was a matter of time before they used the old "Got dizzy for staying too long in the onsen" trope.

I'm personally surprised that they chose to play it for drama, rather than laughs. Of course, the entire school trip arc has been fairly dramatic, what with the love triangle subplot and Fujishiro being forced to come to terms with Izumi having feelings for her.

So is this gay or not? I've heard good things about the anime, but this doesn't even have the subtext tag. I think I'll read it anyway though.

It is gay, you'll see this get the yuri tag once we get to the Valentine's chapter.

There's no new chapter this month.

That's unfortunate. I was looking forward to finding more about Kaoru's mother's death, and how that affected her relationship with Reiichi and Uta's family (It's strange that the manga doesn't seem to mention anyone's surnames).

Gotham2298 posted:

Why is Taiyuki giving us constant mother X daughter? Just finish 1 1/2 already!

Because she wants to do many situations but not all of them fit the same characters

That's true. Yuuki is a lot more forward about her crush on her mother than Asuka was, not to mention that Sayaka divorced her husband, rather than losing him in an auto accident. These differences effectively fit how ◯◯ Yuri is significantly more comedic than 1 x ½.

Guess every single community in the internet has toxic parts of it, even this beautiful yuri community.

Can't believe you're since 5 years and didn't realise it sooner.

I'm personally more surprised by the poster calling people criticisms of Mama Niito's well-intentioned but morally gray ruse to get her daughter to go to work "toxic." Online discussions can get rather nasty, but so far, this is reasonable debate over whether a character's actions are right or wrong, and while I'm in the latter camp, I think there is evidence in support of both sides of the argument (which, for the record, is not "Mama Niito was right" vs. "Mama Niito should get off her daughter's back," but rather, "Mama Niito made the right decision," vs. "Mama Niito should have tried something else").
