The "Bentora" thing is a reference to classic anime Urusei Yatsura, and it's a chant that the self-proclaimed Lum Stormtroopers do in the second episode (they do it in at least one of the movies too) in hopes of calling her back from her home planet, where she'd gone to fill out transfer paperwork to live on Earth.

The original manga translation went with "Bentora", but it's possible they were actually saying "Ventura", which at least kind of sounds like an actual word. The "Space People" part of the original chant was said in English.

EDIT: Ah, found the actual scene:

What's with the ultra-realistic art?

Hey, when you buy ink by the barrel, it really makes you want to use all of it.

Third: They immedietely decide to commit suicide. What the heck? I was also bullied in school albeit for a different reason. It was pretty harsh. But it only fueled my flame of fury. Suicide has never even crossed my mind. However I've considered a different more violent option. You don't want to know the details.

Dunno that I'd call "not being like me" is a flaw in the story. A lot of people don't react the same way you do.

Looking for one about a teenage girl who goes to a school in the countryside, i think it was an orphanage as well. The older girl doesnt like to be touched or something along those lines.

That would probably be Urbane by Fuji Tamaki, although it's a free school in that story rather than an orphanage.

As for the rest, I'm going to echo Blastaar's words here, expanded to include all these various tangents we're off on at the moment. Discussion and debate are welcome, but off-topic derailments ought to be kept...in a different topic, preferably. If your discussions aren't directly relevant to the manga at hand, they likely need not exist in the manga's thread.

That means Blastaar & Nene can't talk anymore about Wild West novels? darn, and here I was hoping to learn more about those devilish Comanche hoss thieves......
just kiddin' :p

Knock yourself out.

Just going to add that I endorse everything said above, and that it's doubly...no, triply...good because it's Pekoe saying it.

Does it have yuri overtones?

Good lord, drop it already. It was a poorly formulated joke. Not worth almost a dozen responses.

I've never had alcohol in my tea before sounds wild o.o

Almost any alcohol would overpower almost any tea, so I don't know if it would taste all that great.

To be fair, aside from the first six episodes which were a brilliant postscript on Super S, the rest of the Sailor Stars anime was mostly crap. It was pretty obvious when Takeuchi wasn't actively involved since both the writing and animation quality dropped sharply, and only picked up again near the end when she got back on board. And that's coming from someone who's long-time handle on the internet is a tribute to Sailor Iron Mouse.

I'm not sure, but I think the bottom implies that Nico photoshopped her own head onto a titty pic of Nozomi in a bathing suit for her PFP.

Back to the series itself, this is about the most contrived, can-only-exist-in-manga setup I've ever seen. I mean the audacity of running with the concept is a bit appealing, but wow.

The art's great though.

The Nazi thing was played out at least three pages ago, so if I see any more of it from here forward I'll just delete it on sight.

I guess this wouldn’t be the moment to jokingly call you a N . . . I’m not, I’m not—I didn’t!

Seriously. Not at all.

Indeed, that moment may never come.

As I recall, the Starlights had the opposite deal from the Senshi. Their fighting forms were their real identities, where the other form was for a specific purpose. So regardless of what body they went to school in, they were alien women at heart.

I mean SS is actually a ship prefix too...
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ship_prefix

And damn if there aren't thousands of things abbreviated with SS. It's not "ignorant" to use SS for anything. Unless Nazi themes are actually present, there is nothing wrong with it and it's a bit weird that so many people jumped on that.

I'm pretty sure the producers of Sailor Moon Super S would be surprised to hear about those sort of connections.

Shipping wars posts deleted.

I, for one, am not on board with a resurgence of that nonsense. If you want a particular pairing, that's what we have tags for.

I have no idea what it is about Bloom Into You that attracts so much of this sort of thing.

Didn’t used to. (I have noticed that generalizations about real-life behavior seem to be a flash-point across the forums—categorical pronouncements about what’s right/wrong/acceptable/not-OK seem to have a way of getting personal awfully quickly.)

That's true, I suppose. I'd just rather keep things from getting too confrontational if possible.

In any case, things are getting a bit too personal (again), so if we could tone things down a bit that'd be great.

“Mandarin oranges” is a marketing term.

No one cares what botanists say when there’s money to be made. Lol

(BTW, I happen to think Cute Little Boy is a pain in the ass. Mostly.)

What's all this about cute little boy's asses?

There are many more varieties of oranges than that, including hybrids, with highly variable ease of peeling.

Where I'm from, citrus is grown year 'round, but even where citrus is not local, an orange is an incredibly common snack to pack in a school kid's lunch.

EDIT: Seriously, I have an orange tree and a tangerine tree in my backyard.

Ooh, yeah. Time for some Orange x Tangerine yuri!
