What the hell are you even talking about Orange? Her point is not valid at all, it has nothing to do with what Esoteric tried to say.

Seriously, I'll be blunt, no offense Foxy Lady, but I honestly don't know if you really completely missed Esoteric point, or if on purpose you twisted their words and used rhetoric to try sound smart, like, really? They didn't talk about the literal feeling of happiness at all.

The point was not missed. It was in fact never discussed. Her comment was not on the content but on the technicality of the meaning of the sentence. And in this context, her comment is valid. If you "do not suffer", it does not automatically mean you are "happy". In a similar vein, being "not poor" does not make you a "rich" person.

Hello Foxy Lady

Basing from these statements, one can't say with finality that the absence of suffering makes one happy, i.e., under reversed argument. In so doing, the illusion of happiness doesn't guarantee as well that people are suffering under baselining the definition of illusion, happiness and suffering.

That's a valid point. Not full does not = hungry XDDDD

Basically, the villagers are killing off anyone who they think will affect the good reputation of the village. You can think of the good reputation as the greater good or harmony. What would you do if you disagree with the majority?

Doesn't it depend on the context? If by defending an idea, you go against everything that the idea stands for, is the idea still worth defending?

To your point of if an idea is worth dying for and if people are prepared to do certain things. This is a fascinating topic. Why would some German risk their life to shelter Jews during WW2? Why would a random man stand in front of a moving tank during Tiananmen Square protest? No one is ever ready to do those things... My theory is they do it because the thought of the regret of staying out is far greater than the preceded consequence of their action. I guess if you don't think you will regret it, then stay out of it for a chance of longer life.

When it all comes down to it, usually it is less about what you're fighting for and more about the things/people you care about. To a man in the front line, while he may die thinking he was protecting the freedom of his country (or whatever the war is for, the war he did not personally start), he may well also die protecting the guy next to him in the trench.

I guess I'm against just accepting the status quo just because it makes everyone else happy?

Haha then I guess the question is, if everyone is happy what is the problem? XDDD

Those penguins better know how to photosynthesize then XD.

Haha people are less kind to plants than cockroaches. Cockroaches would be the last organism standing XD

Also at whose cost, and how do you know if it is enough if you don't do it? The first penguin usually dies, we still need that first penguin to inspire the rest.

Some penguins may just want to sunbathe in the sun and enjoy the ice before global warming melts everything XD

Ever watched Hot Fuzz?

I have not. I had a brief look at the synopsis and I don't quite see the relevance. If you can elaborate that will be helpful.

I think people at different parts of the world already do. At what cost and whether it is enough to effect a real change is a different story

Some people would die for an idea. Some wouldn't. There is really nothing to begrudge -it's a little hypocritical to..because at the end of the day we would also want to have the freedom to choose..whether an idea is worth dying for...whether there are other things in life we value more than the idea..

While I understand the concept of how a revolution needs to start somewhere (and how it won't be easy at the start), things usually don't end well when people are doing things they aren't ready for. Like a shotgun wedding XDDDD

really? Sumin used the pager ?.. I mean she pretty much had a Motorola razr XD

Hahahaha back in the day, there was a special service counter just for the razr series...it was a failure as a product maybe that's why they had to go back to pager XDDDDD

You might not notice but Seju never lies(..yet xDDD), she might threatened Sungji, tricked Sumin, etc.... or sth but she never lies, what she said is the truth and she doesnt push Sumin into the position where she has to go back to her xDDD. Just that she did use that truth to make Sungji feel insecure.

You're right. That is what's endearing about her

Sumin is an insecure person by nature. The author is describing her to be back to the childish, insecure, low self-esteem she used to have when she was with Seju, basically the SuminxSungji's relationship is on the path that SejuxSumin's relationship was on in the past. Question is: will they overcome it?

There is a bit of a role reversal here though. In the past, it was Sumin who needed to take the leap of faith..to trust that Seju didn't do her wrong despite what she saw. In the now, it was Sungji who needed to do this. So now Sumin has been in both positions (if bartender/hypothermia theory holds anyway -because if not then the cheating did happen and the trust was meant to be broken ) and ironically..while she may finally be in a better position to understand where people are coming from sometimes, the ball is no longer in her court..(whether or not Sungji trusts her is out of her hand)

I may be biased (clearly XD) but I honestly believe that whatever is the outcome/her decision, Sungji would make a wiser move than Sumin did in the past. If Sungji goes the Sumin route and enters her own decade-long cycle of hatred...(which I don't think will happen) that will certainly bring a whole new meaning to the saying "what goes around comes around" LOL

Would be totally joy for Seju haters if Seju is behind the plan of making the new team leader to go after Sungji, lolllllllllllll.

Based on Sungji's track record, people generally don't need to be encouraged to go after Sungji, they'll do it of their own accord XDDD

The only thing I really want to see is her limit, what is her limit till she stops thinking that Sumin is worth giving that much and think for herself, lol but well, Seju and Sungji are one of a kind when it comes to love so they might be stupid together to love Sumin blindly, lolll.

Ah Sungji really can do with being a little more self-serving..=.=

Life lesson: one must pay attention to every details when one cheats.

It's interesting that you said the life lesson is how to get away with cheats instead of not to cheat XDD

MacySan
to be honest, Seju is just a plot tool to TeamBlonde and TG is only using her side-story as a filler because WDTFS couldn't possibly be this long without Seju being involved in the story.

What if... What if it is the other way around, Sungji is the actual plot tool to team pink :p

Nah, no one is a plot device for anyone(maybe its Seju if Seju gets a tragic ending while teamblonde is happy ever after, lollll), all three of them are there for the plot. As the story progresses, I realize that if one of them doesnt exist, we dont have what we have right now, like without Seju, do we have SuminxSungji like this? or without Sungji, do we have SejuxSumin like this? Well, they support each other, one is plot device for the other two, lollll

I agree with yoonie ; the dynamic is what it is because the three of them (each with their own idiosyncrasies) are there

ah, you know why? because Seju knows that the problem is not the scarf itself, ch82, but the fact that Sumin doesn't have trust in her. In that sense, the apology itself doesn't matter much giving the root of the issue.

Yeah it's all about trust. If there is trust, even if the pillow was missing nobody would give two hoots about it XD
I quite like the bartender theory because if that holds, Sumin is now in Seju's shoes 10 years ago. "You better not make a mistake"; "I won't", "You won't know , that's why it's called a mistake". This would really drive the point home. Ah the ironyyyy.....Beautiful irony!

Sumin would learn (the hard way) that there's value in giving people the benefit of the doubt and to just trust. That alone would save them 10 years of grief. The question is, would Sungji?

On another note, Foxy Lady you typing almost all your comments from your phone is quite a feat XDDD
I sure hope you have a big ass phone screen XDD

That would be great! But most other works are not up to its caliber yet

I think it's a bit of a chicken and egg thing. Maybe other works are not of this caliber because the expectation (of publishers/fans/people) is not that high and it creates a self perpetuating cycle where work of a not-so-high standard just keeps "making the cut" for publication.

But I suppose there's also no accounting for taste XD...so if that's what the general public likes and expect..that's the kind of creative environment they will create..and eventually that's what they will get as well...No supply with no demand lol

Grape

XD I see that grape is the more popular fruit lol how sad XD

And the lack to definitive "good" and "bad" in the story invites people to bring their opinions and perspectives into discussion,

That is exactly the other thing I like about the story. No definitive good and bad - it's all very nuanced, much like how it is in reality. If everything is so black and white, how boring would that be XD
Even for life in monochrome, you'll need different shades of grey (ideally more than 50 even XD lol)

Been meaning to ask you about what you said here... What do you perceive as beautiful in this story? :)

Jpegandtiff XD..there is something I have to do soon so I can't write too long but in brief, one of the things I'm most intrigued about is the irony. If Sumin comes back to Seju at the end, the irony is complete. The only way Seju gets Sumin back is by letting her go (in the truest sense of the word)

That is sad... and disappointing. The "usual" people attracted to works in this genre are not expecting to read deeply into it, while the people usually not into this genre are better suited to analyze it. What a predicament, that I can't find a good solution for. But that brings me back to an adaptation done right that might widen its audience.

Maybe because there's quite a lot of work out there in this genre that is hard to take seriously lol
I hope this work can kickstart a sort of paradigm shift so people would think differently

mainly childish reading.. taking things at their face value .. double standards, weakness in connecting ideas together

Nora I must admit I was a little like that when I started reading this...XD I mean I didn't think it was a straightforward story and I had a lot of questions left unanswered but I never really did connect the ideas together. And seeing the discussion here, it's been delightful! I don't know what's there for people to complain about X.X

I wonder how would we feel if Sumin or Seju were males.

You know... when I explained a bit of this story to a friend who is not into the genre, I made Sumin a male for reasons said before. Seju's devotion is taken much more harshly when the one she loves is a male, I realized. Double standards for sure. (If it was flipped, the male would seem endearing.)

These are interesting points!
I feel like if Seju were male, she would come across more stalkerish hahaha. Clearly I have my own biases XD

I'm afraid they would judge me for what I read right from chap 1, lol XDDDD.

Yeah... I wish I didn't feel that way, but I do. A part of me thinks that this work is too good to be ashamed of though.
Hahaha this sums it up for me too XD

mpgpeg (I always feel like typing just JPEG LOL), it is too good to be ashamed of -but I guess people won't be able to see that if they don't read past chapter 1 and like yoonie said, the judgement tends to be made right at the start XD (I had quite a bit of a laugh reading your comment, yoonie LOL)

You're hoping for a Sungji ending right? I guess surprise depends on perception.

But what I'm hoping for isn't necessarily what I think will happen XD
Also there's the issue of..if what I'm hoping for happens in a way that destroys the beauty of the story (or rather what I perceive as beautiful in this story) then maybe I'd rather not get what I'm hoping for after all lol (humans are hard to please XD)

Although I must admit I do have a soft spot for Sungji lol

True, it's the most obvious one at this point. Obvious in terms of where the story is going.

At this point I don't know if I want to be surprised by the ending or not XD
